Tawheed

is the Ultimate Truth

BY: Shaykh Abdur Razzak Bin Abdul Muhsin Al-Badr Translator: Nasrin As.Salafiyah English Language Refining Support: Umm Omar

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. All the praises and thanks are for Allaah, the Lord of all that exists. And I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah alone without any partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger, may the salaah and salaam be upon him, his family and companions. To proceed: Allaah, the Blessed and Exalted, said in Soorah An-Naba: The Day that Ar-Rooh [Jibraaeel (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, they will not speak except him whom the Most Gracious (Allaah) allows, and he will speak what is right [78:38]. Whoever reads the books of Tafseer that are transmitted and passed down from the Companions may Allaah be pleased with them and from those who followed them upon goodness - regarding the meaning of this noble verse, will come to know the status of Tawheed in the hearts of the Companions may Allaah be pleased with them, their great concern for it, and attention to its rank. It (The Tawheed) is certainly the greatest of the goals and the most sublime of them. It has been transmitted from more than one of the Companions and the Tabi`een concerning the meaning of His saying: ...and he will speak what is right [78:38], that it is, He will say: Laa Ilaaha Illallaah (None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah). And they said that it (None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah) is the ultimate truth, and the foundation upon which the religion of Allaah, the Blessed and Exalted, is established. There is nothing correct except what is built upon None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah. Every action built upon other than this foundation is incorrect and rejected because it is not standing upon its foundation and its pillar without which there is no standing for it except upon it. The religion of Allaah stands upon None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, and it is to the religion like the roots to the trees and the base to the buildings, See you not how Allaah sets forth a parable? A goodly word as a goodly tree, whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches (reach) to the sky (i.e. very high) [14:24]. Therefore, in this religion, the word of Tawheed (None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah) equals to the principle upon which the religion of Allaah, the Most High, is established. And in the saying of Allaah, the Most High: The Day that Ar-Rooh [Jibraaeel (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, they will not speak except him whom the Most Gracious (Allaah) allows, and he will speak what is right [78:38], the intercessors are mentioned, and from amongst them are the angels the angels of the Most Merciful they do not speak with Allaah, the Most High, about the intercession while the angels that intercede are many as the saying of Allaah, the Exalted, points to it: And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allaah has given leave for whom He wills and is pleased with [53:26].

And what came in this verse is completely similar to what came in the verse of Soorah An- Naba mentioning the two conditions of acceptance of the intercession. And it is not accepted except with two conditions as He says: And there are many angels in the heavens, whose intercession will avail nothing except after Allaah has given leave for whom He wills and is pleased with [53:26], the permission of Allaah for the intercessor and pleasure of Allaah for whom intercession is done. Therefore, there is no intercession with Allaah except with these two: the permission of Allaah, the Most High, for the intercessors, and the pleasure of Him, the Exalted, for whom intercession is done. And similar this is His saying in Soorah An-Naba: The Day that Ar- Rooh [Jibraaeel (Gabriel) or another angel] and the angels will stand forth in rows, they will not speak except him whom the Most Gracious (Allaah) allows, and he will speak what is right [78:38], (It is the proof for) His pleasure for whom intercession is done in his correct saying, and the foundation of correctness is the Tawheed, and there is no correctness except by it, and there is no standing for the religion except upon it. Similar to this also is the explanation of the Salaf for the saying of Allaah, the Most High: None shall have the power of intercession, but such a one as has received permission (or promise) from the Most Gracious (Allaah) [19:87]. More than one (of them) said: the promise (is): None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah. And the explanation of the promise and the truth with None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, is the best and most excellent explanation, and its evidences are the status of None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, and the status of Tawheed with the Companions may Allah be pleased with them. Also, it is the foundation of this religion beside which there is no standing for the religion except upon it. Hence, whoever does not come on the Day of Standing with Tawheed is free from the promise. Additionally, he is not from the people of the truth. As a result, he will not attain intercession regardless whatever was his worship as He, the Most High, said: (It will be) the Day when no person shall have power (to do anything) for another, and the Decision, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allaah [82:19]. The verse comprises of three indefinite nouns from the context of denial and all of them refer to generalization; because when the indefinite noun comes from the context of condition or prohibition or negation, they refer to the generalization, when no person shall have power, meaning a person whatever greatness his standing is and whatever high his statues is, for another, also regardless how much he loved that for him, to do anything, even if something simple and even if something small, and the Decision, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allaah, the decision is in His hand. There is no intercession with Allaah, the Most High, except with permission from Him for the intercessor, and pleasure from Him, the Most High, for whom intercession is done. This understanding clarifies the verse the understanding of the Companions may Allaah be pleased with them for the verse. The hadith of Abi Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with

him in the Saheeh Al-Bukhaariyy (# 99): that he said to the Prophet may the salaah and salaam be upon him: Who is the happiest person with intercession on the day of Standing? He said: Whoever said none has the right to be worshipped except Allaah sincerely from his heart. Subsequently, whoever comes with Tawheed on the Day of Standing, and sincerity and actualization of None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, then he has succeeded with the pleasure of Allaah, the Most High, and he benefited from the intercession of the intercessors from the Prophets, angels, and other than them whoever Allaah has given permission for intercession for them. Because, None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah is the foundation of the religion. From the greatest of misfortunes and calamities from (those) affiliated to Islaam and belonging to it, is that their Tawheed of Allaah, the Most High, was made lost by the leaders of misguidance and callers of falsehood in the intercession under the dangerous concepts regarding the intercession. Therefore, they perform major shirk (polytheistic) practices and false devotions to other than Allaah, the Blessed and the Most High. And if it is said to them: What are you doing? They would way: We are asking for intercession, and we seek intercession from them. And they worship besides Allaah things that harm them not, nor profit them, and they say: These are our intercessors with Allaah [10:18], they perform acts of worship, directing them to other than Allaah, the Blessed and the Most High, and if they are asked about that they would say: They are our intercessors, they intercede for us with Allaah, the Blessed and the Most High. And this is the most false of falsehoods and the most misguided of misguidance and the vilest of it without exception. And definitely in this great position, which is the greatest of the positions and the most excellent of them, comes the task of the beneficial students of knowledge and callers to Allaah, the Blessed and the Most High, the reformers to rectify these notions. Even if the inspector inspects them and the examiner examines some of his relatives from the father, or mother, or uncle (from mother side), or uncle (from father side) or other than them, he perhaps would find that similar to these hidden falsehoods has entered in some of them, from that the responsibility and the trust becomes great to investigate this obligation as an advice to the people; as an advice to the father, mother, uncle (from father side), uncle (from mother side), brother, relative, neighbor in explaining this foundation, which is the greatest foundation in asserting the Tawheed and the meaning of the word, None has the right to be worshipped except Allaah, and the desire of the Quraanic verses and the Prophetic ahadeeth that explain the Tawheed and clarify its meaning to remove these from the false notions that reached them by way of the misguided callers. He (The Prophet) may the salaah and the salaam be upon him said: What I fear the most for my nation is the misguided leaders [Assahihah # 1582]. And I mention one more time, I spoke to a man from one of the countries about this topic I heard him calling on the Prophet may the salaah and the salaam be upon him instead of Allaah. So, when I finished mentioning the clear verses and ahadeeth on this matter and that the supplication is an act of worship must not be directed to (anything/anyone) but

Allaah, the Most High, he said to me: no one told me such speech. Thus, it shows that they are very near to good, and enthusiastic for it, eager for the favor of Allaah, and in achieving it and they hope for His Paradise, and fear His punishment; but the misguided leaders entered upon them with doubts and corrupted in them what they wished. The summary of the speech: the responsibility is great, and the obligation is huge, may Allaah aid you all, grant you success, straighten your steps, guide us and you to the truth in saying, and steadfastness in action, guide us to Him (upon) straight path, and rectify for us all our affairs. Indeed He, the Blessed, the Most High, is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful, and Most Generous.
