sustained severe injuries that required his hospitalization.

He was bailed out by the husband of his sister and fled to Switzerland where he was granted asylum (together with his mother, while his father remained in Iran in prison). He lived in Switzerland for 13 years during which he engaged in political activism against the current regime in Iran. He claims that Iranian agents attempted to kill him in Switzerland and he had to live hidden for two years. Meanwhile, he states that the husband of his sister was executed because he had helped Mr. Moazzen to get out of prison and Iran. Three-four years ago Mr. Moazzen's father was released from the prison and his mother went to Azerbaijan to bring him to Switzerland. Instead, she was captured and imprisoned together with her husband. Mr. Moazzen went back to Iran to get them out, but he was again imprisoned for 9 months, having endured very severe torture. During this time he met his wife who was also a political activist and they got married. Somehow, they managed to come to Turkey (the details are not known to this clinician). Mr. Moazzen wanted to take his wife to Switzerland but she was not granted residence permit by the Consulate General of Switzerland. In desperation and partly due to the pressure of his wife he approached to or was approached by smugglers. The smugglers kidnapped him and his wife together with some other people, kept them in a house for 41 days tied up, beat them up, and threatened them with death. His wife lost their baby in this house because she was kicked in the stomach. The nature of the questions the smugglers posed to him and their threats suggested to Mr. Moazzen that they were Iranian agents. They were saved by the Turkish police but he was kept in detention for 2.5 months (nb: This event was covered by the Turkish media which could be located on the Internet). Finally, he was released; he registered with the UNHCR, and started to live in a satellite city. His lawsuit with the smugglers is still active. Due to the above events he lost his citizenship in Switzerland and his wife abandoned him. Current Living Conditions Mr. Moazzen currently lives in Istanbul, in a little room in a hostel for men, under very precarious conditions. His room is infested and smells bad because it is close to the shared toilet. He has difficulty paying the rent and some days he sleeps in the parks until he is able to cover the rent. He has nutritional problems due to his financial troubles. In addition, due to his living conditions, he lacks proper hygiene. Physical health Mr. Moazzen has a complicated medical history. As a result of his torture history he sustained soft tissue damage, fracture in his right ankle, and chronic pain problems. A thorough report could be obtained from the Human Rights Foundation of Turkey which provided health assistance to him. By the end of 2011 he received a spinal operation; however this operation required diligent post-op care which he lacked. He was left all alone in his room, had difficulty getting up from bed and moving, had no food or water,
