Authorised Strength' (A) is the number of allocated police positions. Commuter Crime Unit and Traffic & Highway Patrol personnel are included within LACs where they are based. 'Operational FTE' (B) is the number of full time equivalent police officers available for policing duties. Excludes police officers unavailable for the following reasons: Long Term Sick (Hurt On Duty, Workers Compensation, Sick Leave Non Work Related); Extended Leave; Maternity Leave; Leave Without Pay; Suspended; External Secondments. NOTE : Temporary secondments to other commands are included within the home command's Operational Capacity.

'Operational Capacity %' (C) is 'Operational FTE (B)' divided by 'Authorised Strength (A)' expressed as a percentage. Commissioner's Office includes the Protocol Unit, Operations Response Unit and overstrength officers within Awards Unit and the Injury Management Project Team. 5 Region Operational Support may include Region Enforcement Squads, Metropolitan Robbery Unit, Emergency Management Unit, Region Strike Forces and Unsolved Homicide Teams. These officers support LACs across the region. Operational support personnel are not centralised at region level in country regions (i.e. Northern, Southern and Western Regions). Local Area Commands (LACs) are also supported by officers from State Crime Command, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Major Events and Incidents Group (e.g. Public Order and Riot Squad, Mounted Police), Special Services Group (Water Police, Aviation Support Branch), Scenes of Crime Officers (SOCOs), Commuter Crime Units, etc. 6 Corporate Services includes a number of officers in over-strength positions, predominantly in Education and Training Command.
