Automatic Emergency brake (EB) application with EB icon displays on DMI, if current speed exceeds MPS by 10 Kmph. All temporary speed restrictions observance will be the responsibility of the Loco Pilot. Loco Pilot has to follow the G&SR.
PROCEDURE FOR SWITCHING ON TPWS DURING INITIAL ENERGISATION OF THE LOCO BY LOCO PILOT / SHUNTER / MAINTENANCE STAFF.
1. Before energization of LOCO, ensure that TPWS battery switch (provided in EVC rack) is in OFF position. 2. Energize LOCO as per extant procedure. 3. On completion of Loco preparation, the following procedure is to be followed to switch ON TPWS. i. Ensure all MCBs for TPWS (7nos.) inside EVC rack are in ON condition. Ensure TPWS isolation Switch is in OFF position in the EVC Rack. ii. Set configuration switch to desired train configuration as given in table1 as per the extant procedure iii. Switch ON TPWS Battery Control Switch provided in EVC rack.

If speed exceeds MPS by 10 Kmph, EB icon is lit and will automatically apply emergency brakes along with traction cut off and continuous audio alarm. EB Counter reading will increase by 1. EB will automatically be released if speed goes below MPS. Also the continuous audio alarm will be stopped. Accelerate the train once the brake cylinder pressure comes to zero on loco and as per extant procedure.
PROCEDURE FOR PASSING AN AUTTOMATIC SIGNAL AT ON / PASSING A SEMI AUTO SIGNAL WITH A MARKER LIT AT ON
On passing an automatic signal at ON, the OS (ON SIGHT) icon Press the Ack icon as a token of acknowledgement. lits up.
If the Loco pilot does not acknowledge within 5 seconds, TPWS will apply service brake and stop the train. Service brake will be released after acknowledgement by loco pilot TPWS comes in ON SIGHT mode operation. The MPS in ON SIGHT mode is 10 Kmph upto next signal. Loco Pilot is responsible for stopping train on seeing any obstruction on the track.
On passing the next signal in OFF position TPWS gets into FS mode automatically.
PROCEDURE FOR PASSING A MANUAL SIGNAL AT ON WITH AUTHORITY / PASSING A SEMI AUTO SIGNAL AT ON WITH A MARKER IN EXTINGUISHED CONDITION
After getting authorization to pass EOA, press icons in the following order at standstill within 200 meters of the intended (ON) signal. Press Suppress Override EOA Override Override EOA icon lits up.

On passing over a switchable balise within travelling 200m and within 255 seconds, the mode will switch over to SR and the permissible speed becomes the MPS. Loco Pilot must check the track ahead is free, points correctly set and follow existing signalling arrangements as per current directives.
TPWS will change to FULL SUPERVISION (FS) mode at the next signal at OFF position.
on crossing a balise
Note: If the switchable balise is not reached within 200 meters and within 255 seconds after the selection of EOA, the SR mode will appear at whichever condition gets earlier, though switchable balise has not yet been passed. Now, when loco passes over a switchable balise, train will trip as EOA Override facility had already lapsed. In that condition, follow the Post Trip procedure.

While running, if the EB feed back indication (YELLOW Lamp) on DMI panel is OFF & Buzzer is sounded (Intermittently), the TPWS brake interface portion has malfunctioned. There will not be any message on DMI for this situation. After this situation, Loco Pilot has to stop the train and close the isolating cock (fitted with micro switch) provided in both cabs under the driver brake controller nearer to the FTIL interface Relay Box. Also Loco pilot has to turn the TPWS Isolation Switch to Isolation On position. DMI will show IS mode. This failure event has to be recorded on loco repair book for urgent attention. Loco pilot shall work train under his responsibility in IS mode.
c)
Brake Interface Relay Unit (IRU) failure In case of internal failures in IRU, Full service and emergency brake application will take place through E70. Loco pilot has to Isolate the IRU through the Isolation switch provided on IRU. Brakes will be released and SB/EB commands of TPWS will not be executed by IRU but EB will be executed by EP relay valves. In order to have protection through TPWS by way of EB, TPWS should not be isolated in case of IRU is isolated. Loco pilot should be extra vigilant since SB application is not there and train protection is available only through EB application.
