Dale Entertainment LLC 1009 10th Street Sacramento, CA 95816 Dear Mr. Robertson, The City of Sacramento is committed to supporting quality events throughout the community. The City is proud to host more than five hundred public special events annually. Your firm submitted a Special Event Application (#455253) to organize concerts and food vending on K Street between 9th and 11th Street on New Years Eve (December 31, 2012), which was to include a total of 12,500 persons. This was to be an entry fee event and include a Diamond Drop at midnight. K Street and the streets connecting between J and L Streets would be closed to the public. The light rail system would be shut down early in the afternoon for setup and during the event, but shuttle buses needed to transfer riders. City staff met with representatives from various City departments, the Highway Patrol and Regional Transit regarding safety concerns. As you may know, every year there is also a New Years Eve fireworks event in Old Sacramento, so additional security and traffic control resources would be needed to handle two large events in the downtown area. Regional Transits system has electrified wires above the concert stages which would make set-up difficult, and the timing for removal of the stages before light rail service was to start in the early morning hours was very limited. After further review of the potential impacts of the event and the resources needed, as identified by the Chief of Police and representatives from other affected agencies, I have concluded that the use of City property as proposed in your permit application would not be consistent with the sound use of City resources, and may be detrimental to the publics safety and welfare. I commend your creativity and your desire to enhance the spirit and vitality of our City. I hope that you will continue to bring forward unique and innovative ideas for our consideration.
