They are not healed by all the world provides! Knowing that God promises to forgive and heal is such a hopeful thing that must be grasped. We have a duty to preach this truth to the world today that there is salvation from all the hopelessness around if people choose to turn to God through Jesus Christ Introduction 1 GOD FORGIVES & RESTORES We appreciate God more when we realise that we are sinners without hope and that His nature made him to reach out to us. Through His love for us, we are not only forgiven but restored back to a rewarding relationship with him when we seek Him. We realise through his acts of love that He is dependable to keep His promise to not only forgive but to heal our land. Over the ages God has shown he is faithful to keep His covenant with man. When we depart from him by

sinning (our acts of disobedience) we inflict wounds on ourselves as 2 Chronicles 7:13 says (see also Deut 32:39; Job 5:18; Isaiah 19:22 & 30:26), when we return, He forgives and heals us to make us enjoy this covenant relationship again. Conclusion Our God has revealed himself to man throughout the ages as the covenant keeping God who will preserve us if we follow his word and are willing to come back to Him when we fall. No one who calls to Him will he cast away. He forgives and restores today as He has always done. We have a duty to make Jesus known to the dying world that there is hope when people repent and look to Him. He died to give us this hope Reflections Reflect on the meaning of Psalm 107:20 Ponder on the importance of God promising to forgive and heal His people Isaiah 1:18, 19; Exodus 15:26 Compare Isaiah 19:22 with Jeremiah 8:20-22 Why is restoration needful after forgiveness? read Psalm 91; 53:6; Jeremiah 30:17; Acts 3:19 What people or nation can you ask God to bring to repentance today?
