This evening is for parents to discuss curriculum, classroom goals, Discipline with Purpose, and
homework.
Two sessions for Grades K-5: Session 1: 5:00 - 5:30 Session 2: 5:30 - 6:00 p.m.
Teachers in grades K-5 will give a 20-25 minute presentation and then time will be available to ask
questions.
Grades 6-8 6:10-7:45 p.m
All Middle school parents will begin in the lunchroom for an overview of homeroom protocol. You
will learn more about our new advisory program. You will then travel to all classrooms to learn more
about the curriculum and classroom expectations.

Thank you for all you do as a volunteer at Sacred Heart. Your time and effort benets our children in countless
ways. In order to ensure the safety and well being of all our children, volunteers who have contact with children
must attend a one-time Virtus Training.
What: Virtus: Protecting Gods Children - Training Session
October 11 in the Marian Rooms, Sacred Heart, there is no cost.
You must pre-register using the following steps:
1. Go to www.virtus.org
2. Click on the Registration link in the left hand column
3. Select Saint Paul and Minneapolis from the dropdown box.

Food treats at Sacred Heart
Due our Wellness Policy and the number of students that have food allergies, we will eliminate most food rewards for our students
with the exception but not limited to the all school Halloween party, Catholic Schools Week, Valentines Day, Marathon class
parties.
We are not allowing food birthday treats, treats for Junior Achievement, class rewards, etc. Teachers will be asked to direct parents
to the school ofce.
Athletic Fundraiser-Buffalo Wild Wings, Crystal
Wednesday, Sept. 26 3:00-10:00 pm
Join us for a great meal and our athletic dept. earns 10% of all sales. Bring the attached coupon with you on Sept. 26th. Money
raised from dining and concession stands help purchase equipment and uniforms.
New Middle School Counselor
We have a new counselor for grades 6-8: Shirley Backman. She will be at SHCS on Friday to introduce herself to the students.
She is available to help students with some of the following topics: study skills, preparing for high school, organizational skills,
bullying, friends, conict management, coping skills, goal setting, attitude, and much more.
Sacred Heart policy regarding counseling:
Counseling Opportunities
Counselors may see a middle school student up to three times without parental notication and consent. After the third visit,
parents will be notied. Counselors help students with organization skills, monitor homework, address issues with peers, address
issues at home, etc. Parents may also request the counselor to talk with their child. If serious concerns exist, parents will be
promptly notied whenever the concerns arise. Parents are welcome to contact the counselor at any time. All information stays
condential unless the students are harmful to self or others.
High School visits-Tuesday, October 2nd 9:00 a.m. Marian Rooms
The following high schools will be present to talk to our 8th graders: Providence Academy, DeLaSalle High School, Benilde-St.
Margarets, Totino Grace, and Christo Rey. Parents are welcome.
