Personal protection for the person providing first aid. After inhalation: Supply fresh air. If required, provide artificial respiration. Keep patient warm. Consult doctor if symptoms persist. In case of unconsciousness bring patient into stable side position for transport. After skin contact: Wash with soap and water. After prolonged skin contact defatting of skin possible, use skin protecting agent after prolonged skin contact. If skin irritation continues, consult a doctor. After eye contact: Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. If symptoms persist, consult doctor. After swallowing: Rinse out mouth and then drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting! Call a doctor immediately. Information for doctor: Danger: Danger of pneumonia.

5 Fire fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing agents Carbon dioxide (CO), extinguishing powder or water spray/fog. Fight larger fires with water spray/fog or alcohol-resistant foam. For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents Water with a full water jet. Special hazards caused by the material, its products of combustion or flue gases: Flammable gases/vapours Hydrocarbons Carbon monoxide (CO) and Carbon dioxide (CO) Protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Additional information Cool endangered containers with water spray jet. Dispose of fire debris and contaminated fire fighting water in accordance with official regulations. If without risk possible, move drums with material away from dangerous area.

6 Accidental release measures

Person-related safety precautions: Ensure adequate ventilation. Remove all ignition sources. Wear protective clothing and keep away unprotected persons. Do not breathe vapours. Avoid skin and eye contact. Measures for environmental protection: Do not allow to enter drainage system, surface or ground water. Prevent from spreading (e.g. by damming-in or oil barriers). Damp down gases/fumes/haze with water spray jet. Inform respective authorities in case product reaches water or sewage system. Measures for cleaning/collecting: Ensure adequate ventilation. Absorb with liquid-binding material (sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders, sawdust). Remove from the surface of water (e.g. skim or vacuum off). Do not flush with water or aqueous cleansing agents. Send for recovery or disposal in suitable containers. Dispose of the material collected according to regulations.

7 Handling and storage

Handling Information for safe handling: Ensure good interior ventilation, especially at floor level. (Fumes are heavier than air). Do not inhale vapours/aerosols. Make sure that all applicable workplace limits are observed. Avoid skin and eye contact. Information about protection against explosions and fires: Fumes can combine with air to form an explosive mixture. Flammable mixtures may be formed in empty containers. Keep ignition sources away - Do not smoke. Protect against electrostatic charges. Protect from heat and direct sunlight. Do not spray on flames or red-hot objects. Can form explosive mixtures in air if heated above flash point and/or when sprayed or atomised. Use explosion-proof apparatus / fittings and spark-proof tools. Storage Requirements to be met by storerooms and containers: Observe all local and national regulations for storage of water polluting products. Observe storage regulations for flammable liquids. Information about storage in one common storage facility: Store away from oxidizing agents. Observe regulations for storage of flammable liquids. Further information about storage conditions: Store container in a well ventilated position. Store in cool, dry conditions in well sealed containers. Keep container tightly sealed.

8 Exposure controls and personal protection

Components with critical values that require monitoring at the workplace: Applicable PEL/OEL for hydrocarbons to be observed. Additional information: The lists that were valid during the compilation were used as basis. Personal protective equipment General protective and hygienic measures Keep away from foodstuffs, beverages and food. Instantly remove any contaminated garments. Do not carry cleaning cloths impregnated with the product in trouser pockets. Do not eat, drink or smoke while working. Do not inhale gases / fumes / aerosols. Avoid close or long term contact with the skin. Avoid contact with the eyes. Wash hands during breaks and at the end of the work. Breathing equipment: If all workplace limits are observed and good ventilation is ensured, no special precautions necessary. Recommended filter device for short term use: Filter A Protection of hands: Solvent resistant gloves. The glove material has to be impermeable and resistant to the product/ the substance/ the preparation. Selection of the glove material on consideration of the penetration times, rates of diffusion and the degradation. Check the permeability prior to each anewed use of the glove.
