1. (a) CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL After warm up the engine and then 5 minutes after the engine stop, oil level should be between the low level and full level marks of the dipstick. If low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark. NOTICE: Do not fill with engine oil above the full level mark.

CHECK ENGINE OIL QUALITY Check the oil for deterioration, entry of water, discoloring or thinning. If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil. Oil grade: Use ACEA B1, API grade CF 4 or CF (You may also use API CE or CD) SAE 5W 30 is the best choice for your vehicle, for good fuel economy, and good starting in cold weather. 3. In addition, used engine oil contains potentially harmful contaminants which may cause skin cancer. S Exercise caution in order to minimize the length and frequency of contact of your skin to used oil. Wear protective clothing and gloves. Wash your skin thoroughly with soap and water, or use waterless hand cleaner to remove any used engine oil. Do not use gasoline, thinners, or solvents. REPLACEMENT
1. (a) 2. 3. (a) DRAIN ENGINE OIL Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain engine oil. REMOVAL & INSTALLATION CHAIN SUBASSY (See page 1449) REMOVE CHAIN VIBRATION DAMPER NO.1 Remove the 2 bolts and the chain vibration damper No. 1.

REMOVE OIL PUMP ASSY Remove the 5 bolts. Remove the oil pump assy and the gasket.

INSTALL OIL PUMP ASSY Place a new gasket on the cylinder block. Align the keyway of the oil pump drive rotor with the rectangular portion of the crankshaft and slide the oil pump into place. Install the oil pump with the 5 bolts. Torque: 9.0 NVm (92 kgfVcm, 80 in.Vlbf)

INSTALL CHAIN VIBRATION DAMPER NO.1 Install the chain vibration damper No. 1 with 2 bolts. Torque: 9.0 NVm (92 kgfVcm, 8.0 in.Vlbf) INSTALL OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG Clean and install the oil pan drain plug with a new gasket.
