EUROPUB EUROPUBHEALTH - European Public Health Master


Duration: 2 years Course description: Seven renowned European universities and the prestigious American Mailman School of Public Health are collaborating to deliver Europubhealth, an innovative integrated 2 year Master course (120 ECTS) for high quality students who wish to embark on a career in public health at the local, national or global level. Students are trained to undertake different public health functions such as health surveillance and protection, health promotion, planning and regulation, organising, delivering and evaluating the effectiveness of health services. Interdisciplinary by nature, Europubhealth is open to students with diverse but complementary profiles drawn from medical sciences (including doctors, nurses, pharmacists) or social science backgrounds (including, for example, sociology, economics, psychology, anthropology, geography, political sciences, law). Students completing Europubhealth will acquire the competences to: - analyse and address the determinants of health problems from a population perspective - propose, plan, implement and evaluate culturally appropriate, evidence-based policies and interventions for the effective improvement of population health in international, national, and local contexts. Students are required to study at a minimum of 2 European institutions. Their first year foundation course in public health takes place either at the University of Sheffield (UK, in English), or at the University of Granada-Andalusian School of Public Health (Spain, in Spanish). In their 2nd year, students have the opportunity to gain further key public health skills and competences through carrying out research work and a fieldwork/placement while pursuing one of the following specialisations: - Health Services and Prevention (University of Copenhagen, Denmark) in English - Health Economics and Governance of Health System (University of Krakow, Poland) in English - Health Promotion (University of Granada/Andalusian School of Public Health) in Spanish - Environmental Health (EHESP-Paris, France, with a possible mobility to Columbia University, USA) in English - Advanced Biostatistics and Epidemiology (EHESP-Paris with a possible mobility to Columbia University, USA) in English - Law, Health and Ethics (University of Rennes 1/EHESP) in French - Health Policy and Programmes Management (Institut d'Etudes Politiques-Rennes/EHESP/University of Rennes1) in French. At the end of each academic year, an integration module, at EHESP Rennes brings together all the students and focuses on international aspects of public health and developing crucial cross-cutting competences. All students are offered personalised student services and practical language courses in the countries in which they study. The final qualification consists of an officially recognised double or joint Master's degree (according to the pathway) awarded by the European institutions in which the student has studied. The criteria for eligibility are a good Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field and language proficiency matching the mobility combination.
