Employees at all levels said: Access to information affects their morale. When given more information, they feel respected and important.

Employees resent learning things about their organization through the media. They believe members of the family should know information first.

Can we afford to keep doing what weve been doing? Are we reaching our employees where they are? Are we engaging employees?

What does effective internal communication look like for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools?

Research shows:
Different generations are motivated by different work values. Gen X (born 1965-1980) hold stronger values for leisure time and place more value on work that provides tangible rewards external to the individual, such as income, advancement opportunities and status than Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964). Its even more evident for Millennials (born 1981-1990).
(Twenge, Campbell, Hoffman, & Lance, 2010).

We need to rethink how we engage and retain young workers.

And, what about communicating with employees who have diverse educational backgrounds?

Do they communicate the same way?

If our employees are diverse

Shouldnt we figure out the best ways to engage them?

When we dont, who suffers?
