IMPORTANT TERMINOLOGY
Alternative Frequency (AF) An RDS program is transmitted simultaneously on several frequencies. The radio automatically searches for the transmission frequency with the best reception. A short interruption of playback may occur during the process. This allows user to retune automatically to different frequency providing the same station when the first signal is too weak. Amplitude modulation (AM) Audio signal amplitude is modulated with the carrier signal. Frequency band is from 530KHz to 1650KHz (Region specific). Automatic station search In automatic station search operation, the tuner searches in the operating frequency band until a station is found. ID3 tag ID3 tag includes the following data based on the text available on CD tracks. - Track title - Artist name - Album name This information can be stored in the MP3 file with a PC.
4

International organization for standardization (ISO) ISO is the worlds largest developer and publisher of International standards. Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) LCD is an electronic visual display used to convey visual information to the user. Manual station search There is a distinction made between coarse tuning and fine tuning. MP3 CD audio data compression allows reduction of the data to around 10 % of the original volume without audible losses in sound quality (at a bit rate of 128 kbit/s). If lower bit rates are used to convert the CD audio data into MP3, then the files become even smaller, but sound quality is reduced. Sound settings(Jazz, vocal, Disco, Dance, Classic)

IMPORTANT TERMINOLOGY
These are the predefined bass and treble sound settings Jazz : Bass 0, Treble 4 Vocal : Bass 5, Treble 0 Disco : Bass 0, Treble 2 Rock : Bass 0, Treble 0 Classic : Bass 2, Treble 2 These settings are applicable to the existing infotainment system. Speed Dependent Volume Control (SDVC) To compensate for ambient and rolling noise, the radio volume adjusts to the speed of the vehicle based on the SDVC settings chosen in the system. Synchronized clock: Using this feature, user can Synchronize the vehicle clock with the time transmitted via RDS. TA Volume Volume of the Traffic announcement (TA). Automatic storing (AS) In auto store operation, system searches the complete operating frequency band for stations and stores the stations in the predefined memory locations based on the order of the signal strength. AUX In connectivity Playback of any auxiliary device such as MP3 player. Balance Volume distribution between the left and the right. Bass Low-frequency audio sounds. Bluetooth Bluetooth is a wireless technology standard used for exchanging the data over short distances operated at 2.4GHz frequency range. Compact Disc (CD) Compact disc is a optical disc storage media to store digital data. CD-DA Compact Disc-Digital Audio. Digital audio is an audio CD recording format. ON volume ON volume setting is to set the switch ON volume for the Infotainment system.

IMPORTANT TERMINOLOGY
PS (Program Service): Displays the program name. Some stations provide additional information if the station is RT(Radio text) based FM station. PTY (Program Type): Many RDS stations transmit a PTY code indicating the type of program broadcast (e. g. news). The PTY code allows station selection by program type. RDS (Radio Data System) RDS is a service provided by the radio broadcasters which makes it much easier to find an FM station and helps to ensure reception is free of interference. RDS stations are identified by the name of the station in the display instead of the frequency when RDS is active. RDS stations transmit information which is automatically evaluated by the RDS radio if RDS is activated. Random mode (RND) CD/USB tracks are played in random order. Traffic Program (TP) Some RDS based FM stations transmits Traffic program (TP) in which traffic information is transmitted. Treble High-frequency audio sounds.
6

Universal serial bus (USB) USB is a protocol to establish communication between device and controller device. Contrast Contrast is the ratio of the luminance of the brightest color to the darkest color.(Applicable for display systems). CD-Text Information stored on an audio CD which can include the following data - Track title - Artist name - CD name Digital Video Disc (DVD) Digital Video Disc which can be used for storing the video and data files. Ext. in volume External in volume is the volume of externally connected device such as Bluetooth device. Fader Volume distribution to the front and to the rear.

IMPORTANT TERMINOLOGY
Frequency modulation (FM) Audio signal frequency is modulated with the carrier signal. Frequency band is from 87.5MHz to 108MHz (Region specific). RED Book Red book is the standard for audio CD which contains the specification for all CDs and CD-ROM formats. REG (Regional programmes): At certain times some RDS stations transmit different regional programs on different frequencies. User can continue to listen to the regional programme to which the radio is tuned even if the vehicle is passing through the area covered by the neighboring regional programme. Repeat mode (RPT) CD/USB tracks are played in repeat order. Reverse Parking System(RPS) RPS system is a driver assist system which gives the information about the objects present near by the parking sensors based on the designed sensor viewing angles. Scan mode(SCN) In scan mode, each CD/USB track is played for 10sec until a track is selected.
