in india we need to increase the production efficiency of crops because of the following reasons 1)the increasing population 2)the area of the cultivated land cannot be spread,as the land is limited What are green and white revolutions? green revoluition was meant to increase the production of wheat white revolution was to increase the production of milk What should we take care of when we increase food production? when we increase food production we should take care that the soil does not get polluted by the use of extra fertilizers and does not loose its fertility. The crops should be protected from pest and weeds Will increasing food production lead to food for everyone? increasing food production wold not lead to fod for everyone as those who dont have money to buy the food grains would not be able to buy the grains even if the production is less or more.it does not matter to them as both ways they wont get food What is kharif season, which crops are grown here kharif crop is the crop grown in the rainy seasons,june-october example-jowar,bajra What are the acitivities done to increase crop production activities done to increase crop production aremanures and fertilizers are added to the soil so that the crop gets nutrients from the soil What is hybridization? It reduces the risk of failure and insures against the failure of one crop.the crops will be harvested at the same time.it will get the same amount and type of pesticide 2()intercropping-in this method two or more croips are simultaneously grown on the same piece of land simultaneously.the crops can be harvested at different times.pesticides etc can be added by seeing the need of the plants.it prevents the spreading of disease and pests from one row of the crop to the other row. 3)crop rotation-in this type two crops are alternatively (year after year) sowed on the same field.the crops are neither harvested at the same time.it is not necessary that they are provided with the same tyope of pesticides.it is a good way of controlling pests as some pests are crop specific and leave the field as soon as another crop is grown.
