Bearsden Academy

Good Luck, Class of 2011! It was my pleasure to be your Year Head for your S5 and S6 years. In the time I have known you, I been impressed with your loyalty to Bearsden Academy, and your commitment to making your time here count. I have many fond memories of my time with you and the events we shared. Of particular note are the Leavers Day at Mugdock park, with all the bouncy castles and in the main fine weather, and the Prom in the Old Fruitmarket, where you all looked stunning! I have great memories of all of you in your own unique ways! I hope that as you move on in life, you will be true ambassadors for Bearsden Academy, ad that you will remember us often and fondly. I wish you health, happiness and success as you embark upon the rest of your lives.

Alison Boyles Depute Head Teacher

A Note From The Editor They say good things come to those who wait; it certainly has been a wait for this book. Whether its any good is a personal opinion but I hope it proves to be a nice memento of our time we spent at Bearsden Academy. Part of the reason this book was so late was due to being let down by people from our year and companies out with it. However, I realise that as yearbook editor the buck stops with me and I can only apologise for the delay in this being published. That said, the actual content of this book was as a result of a number of people, I am extremely grateful to anyone who helped and in particular Miss Grant and Mr Findlay for their patience and commitment. Best of luck for the future and I hope this book provides useful material for reminiscing about your days at Bearsden Academy for many years to come.

Calum Gordon Class of 11

Bearsden Academy

Holly Allan Holly describes herself as a big massive ringleader and you can frequently hear her shouting aw yeah, f*** yeah! Holly is also known as Hol Balls, unfortunately, her words! If stranded on a desert island, Holly would take a gun with her to help her survive. Hollys most embarrassing moment was her outfit to Mhairis party; Im sure she will treasure the photos for years to come. If Holl Balls was a superhero, her superpower would be teleportation. In ten years time, Holly will be a Roller Derby Champ. Aw yeah!! Nadia Dadrass Also known as Naja and Nads, and is perfectly described in 3 words as cute, giggly and petite. If she was stuck on a desert island it is inevitable that Nadia would just have to take her boyfriend, Russell, with her. How cute! If Nadia was a superhero her superpower would be to have premonitions. Her most embarrassing moment was when she fell down the stairs at a party in fourth year. Its those lovely high heels! Her favourite movie is Walk The Line. In ten years she hopes to be a pharmacologist, fancy! Fiona McPherson Also known as Fi and Effy , she can be described as bubbly, forgetful and friendly. Her funniest moment was when she was at Deep Sea World in second year and tripped and slid down a ramp, somewhat resembling a seal. Oh dear! If Fiona was a superhero she would have the ability to breathe underwater, meaning she could join her shark friends. It comes as no surprise that her favourite film is Finding Nemo. Her favourite song is The Girl by City and Colour and she would bring her trusty snorkel if trapped on a desert island, obviously. Sarah Potter Mostly known by the name of Sazza P, she correctly describes herself as absolutely f****** hysterical so her favourite song just had to be The Steak Pie Tune. Lucky for Sarah she doesnt have a most embarrassing moment from Bearsden Academy as she is simply too smooth. Sarahs most memorable one liner is Die! which hopefully wont apply to her work as she hopes to be a doctor in ten years time, best of luck Sarah! Irn Bru would be the one thing Sazza P would take with her to a desert island. Her funniest moment she will never forget is Hogmanay 2010 where she fell asleep before the bells and missed the party.

Bearsden Academy

Sophie Hogg Hoggatron, the sentient that didnt quite make the cut for the Transformers, is also referred to as Hogg. This newly red head is a quiet, fun-sized member of the year. She sees herself in ten years as being 27. Small Sophie has firm beliefs that penguins can fly, not in the air but in water, isnt that called swimming? If Hoggatron was a superhero her desired super power would be telechinesis, surely she means telekinesis? Sophie describes herself as a midget who certainly slots into our year group. Amy Kingham Amy, or Aims as she is best known, is an awesome, creative and good spirited girl. Her unique personality is reflected by her favourite song Bust a Move. If Amy was stuck on a desert island the one thing she would bring is her Ipod, fully stocked and fully charged. Aims describes her funniest moment as all the conversations between her and Lauren in higher English. Being the sensible, loving girl that Amy is she sees herself in ten years in a relationship and ready to start a family.

Aisha Abdullali Aisha Abdullali or Eesha as she is better known throughout her peers, is a kind, hardworking girl who strives to do her best at all times. She describes herself as talkative but wont reveal her first crush as shed prefer not to say. Daring Aishas favourite film is the The Devil Wears Prada. If Aisha was a super hero her super-power would be speed, which could come in handy as she sees herself in ten years time as married with children and working. Unsurprisingly, Eesha won best smile in our 6th year awards.

Lucy Ayre Commonly referred to sarcastically as fat b**** Lucy sees herself in ten years time being obese but happy, but if given a superpower it would be the ability to eat without getting fat. Lucys most memorable moment was her impersonation of a sky scraper in 6th year Modern Studies. Her most embarrassing moment was when she smacked her face off a wall in Holly Alans house. Her first crush was Steward Matheson.

Bearsden Academy

Cameron Campbell Cameron, Cammy, Cambo, Rono, you know, the lyrical genius infamous for his truly touching songs posted on facebook. His inspiring bursts are short lived however, as he is renowned for his heart wrenching status updates. Cambos time at school was made all the more interesting, apparently when he played hotel tig in London. Ronos most embarrassing moment was when he called his art teacher mum shortly after saying his mum was hot. This is the perfect example of Cammys ability to put himself in tight situations which he has difficulty getting out of. If he was a superhero, his super power would be that of invisibility. Rhona Mackay Wee Rhona, who also answers to Rhonda or Randy Rhonda, feels that with her thespian outlook on life, she is utterly impossible to define and sees life on stage ahead of her. Being the good-time-girl that she is she would take a mini bar with her to a desert island. Rhona is an artsy girl who has a carefree, non judgemental attitude towards everyone.

Laura Donnelly Laura, or lad, is a kind, considerate member of our year. She is often known as a quiet, innocent girl but those who know her best know she is quite the opposite. Lad is a closet flirt; she occasionally mingles with our year but also the year below. Laura takes much pride in being ginger describing herself as a red headed beauty. However, she has the characteristics of a blonde, once asking her friend, Who is Jack Daniels? Laura is often seen as a random and energizing character that can brighten up anyones day.

Christopher Davie Chris, despite joining our year late, settled in like hed been around from the start. Known for his easy going nature and intelligence, Chris is now in St Andrews furthering his studies. As an enthusiastic snow boarder, were sure theres snow stopping Chris with whatever his future holds.

Bearsden Academy

Alison Cavin Alison, also known as Ali or A-Cav, was a bubbly, cheerful member of our year group. Aside from a few tearful moments of her Gus, Ali always had a smile on her face at Bearsden. You could often find Alison walking around the corridors trying to avoid going to class.

Alan Wylie Alan, or more commonly known by his second name, Wylie will be remembered for his sarcasm. Alan was an integral part of the yearbook team, reporting on all school events such as prom and leavers day. Alans funniest moment was when he claimed most average boys hit puberty at age 16.

Caitlin Welsh Caitlin, or Welshy, or Miss Bearsden as she now calls herself, didnt hand in a yearbook profile sheet so we asked her friend Misha to fill one out for her. She describes Miss Bearsden as fat, ugly and specky. Caitlin is probably the complete opposite of that.. Well, maybe not the specky part. Fun, talkative and beautiful are probably three much more appropriate words to describe her. Her first crush at school was Mark Sim and her funniest moment was when she thought The Only Way Is Essex was an English version of the scheme.

Shona Smith Shona is known for hosting the best parties and having an odd diet which consists of only Diet Coke and pasta. A valued member of our years European Youth Parliament team, Shona helped them reach the national finals. Shona is now furthering her studies at Strathclyde University.

Bearsden Academy

Nathan Forbes Nathan is an avid Celtic supporter with a great sense of humour. The subject which he excelled most at was PE, as a sporting all-rounder, he is now continuing down this path at North Glasgow College. If youre ever needing to get in touch with Nathan you can usually get him by phoning your local Dominos.

Kerry Hunter Kerry, or Kezza, or even the white Nicki Minaj to some. A hip hop obsessive, Kerry could often be found drooling over Dappy from N Dubz or pretty much any other rapper. A quiet, kind member of our year; we wish Kerry the best of luck in whatever she does in life.

Louise Munro Louise is obsessed with her tan, barely a day goes by where she doesnt tweet about needing to top up her tan. However, she isnt just all looks, she excels at English and left Bearsden to continue this pursuit in Edinburgh. So when she isnt tanning she quite literally has her head in the books.

Jane Pothan If staying at home in bed was a subject, Jane would have been top of the class. However, when Jane was in school she certainly made up for lost time with her great sense of humour and wonderful smile. Although to make up for her regular absence Dayle Hassan always kept a picture of her inside his locker.

Bearsden Academy

Emma Barlow Emma is one half of the Barlow twins, both known for their sporting exploits. Emma represented the school at various sporting events as well as playing Hockey at a national level. Supremely talented in both sport and academics, Emma is now continuing her studies at Caledonian University where she is studying physiotherapy.

Lucy Littlejohn Lucy; musician, EYP-er and all round funny person. Unfortunately Lucy has left Bearsden for the sunny, picturesque climes of Dundee where she is studying Medicine. During her time at Bearsden Academy Lucy was a prominent member within the schools music department and an excellent team member of the schools EYP team which reached the national finals in Durham where Lucy absolutely nailed her old person look for the fancy dress competition.

Greg Collins Gregs early years at Bearsden Academy mostly consisted of him working on his rap career. Unfortunately there isnt much room in the industry for white Glaswegians. So, Greg turned his hand to starring and directing his own short films including Martin backfarting which surprisingly was not nominated for an Oscar. You can find Gregs work on youtube. He is now studying at the City of Glasgow College.

Dayle Hassan Dayle, also known as Dayleykins, Dayo Haich, Daryl, Doyle Hussein, Dizzle, Gayle, is a boy genius who gained 10 As at Higher, all thanks to his magic glasses which make him incredibly intellectual. Dayle is probably the hairiest man in Bearsden, if not the world, if he shaves in the morning he is virtually guaranteed to have a full beard by lunch. Daryl is now continuing his studies at Glasgow University.

Bearsden Academy

Adam Reid Man in chippy: Do you want vinegar on your chips? Adam No thanks Erin Crawley Me neither Adam Youre my perfect girl *Kisses* - No further profile is needed-

Kirstin Halliday Kirstin, or Keeks, is a super-indie-alternative-feminist-super-model. Not just known for her modelling and winning our years best dressed award, she also loves debating. A girl of many talents, she finds time to balance her modelling career, cause she is a model, with various other cool indie activities that youve probably never heard of. She is now continuing her studies at Glasgow Uni, naturally.

Sarah Gray Sarah the ginger one, as stated in her email address, was a jack of all trades during her time at Bearsden Academy. Athletics, Music, Debating all filled up Sarahs time and she excelled in each. Regularly representing our school in debating and sporting events as well as attending Gartmore with the music department, its a wonder she found time to do much else. Sarah is now doing portfolio preparation at Cardonald college.

Andrew McNee Andrew, or Neeser, is a lovely individual with an extremely questionable choice in clothing, footwear and females. From his And1 basketball trainers, which he thought said Andy, to his pink slouch beanie, Andy is a real trendsetter in his own mind. Andrews most embarrassing moment was undoubtedly dressing up as a woman for his Boys Brigade play. He still indulges in cross dressing from time to time for attending Scotland games where he dons a skimpy tartan skirt.

Bearsden Academy

Struan McBride Struan was voted the Class of 2011s Head Boy, an outstanding candidate that was a shoo in. I suppose hes just lucky that the picture of him dressed as a pirate with his rum and cigar never made its way into the hands of those selecting who would be the ideal candidate. Coincidentally, when Struan wasnt at school youd often find him sailing. Struan is now studying how to build ships, or some form of engineering, at Strathclyde University.

Mark Sim Mark, or Simmy as he was most commonly known, excelled both academically and for the schools football and rugby teams. Marks talent saw him become an integral member of both sports teams. He was also known for his sense of humour, youd find it difficult to find anyone with a bad word to say about Simmy. Mark is now at the University of Strathclyde.

Laura Jean Struthers Surprisingly, the already nicknamed LJ has various other nicknames such as Smell Jay, Elle Gay, and Ullgiji. Dont ask. She can be described in three words as jolly, ginger and gullible. Her most embarrassing moment was when she was caked in orange make up for her role as a ned in the school play. If she was a superhero her power would be to turn everything she touched into orange glitter. (submitted by Lewis McLean)

Amy Prior Amy Prior, the most effiecient, duty hungry prefect in the year group, which is not difficult at all, claims that her funniest moment was throwing coffee around the staffroom. It seems there is a side to Amy Before that has been revealed to very few of us, as she is known as the quiet, well respected one in our year. Prior once embarrassed herself by falling unconscious in physics. Amy Louise Prior, or ALP as she is known to her friends, feels that her Prior Knowledge may not stand her in good stead as she dreads future employment.

Bearsden Academy

Kerry Young Daughter of legends; Fleli and Litre, Kely (occasionally known as Kerry Young) is often seen as a sarcastic joker famous for her one liners. She is kind, considerate and a fun loving gal. Kerry sees her future being spent snuggled amongst her familys collection of miners in their very own attic. One can assume various records of her activities will be kept on her phone which she goes nowhere without.

Fraser MacLeod Fraser, also known as Fra, sees himself in ten years time in a mirror. Its fair to say he will be remembered from his time at school as quite the joker! Just like his partner in crime, Lewis Cumming, Fraser also his first crush on Mrs Nicol (Poor Grant) and describes himself in 3 words as MAD.WAE.IT. His favourite moment was in first year when someone shouted Mr Rentons name before football to which Mr Renton replied STEP FORWARD YOU COWARD.

Jamie Lessani Also known as Lessanchu or Pauly D, he sees himself in ten years time living it up in Jersey Shore. Megan Fox would be what Jamie would take with him to a desert island. Passing out at a party and waking up without his clothes was Jamies most embarrassing moment. Jamies favourite movie is Lion King (aww) and his first crush at Bearsden Academy was Mrs Zaoui and Hollie Hanlan. Easy tiger, we only asked for one!

Lisa McLeod Lisa McLeod, or Leeza is a rather different character within the year due to her obscure and loud personality. She describes herself as fun, but putting her favourite song as Wow by Marilyn Manson might suggest differently. Loudmouth Lisa states that in ten years time she will be on a desert island with Marilyn Manson. Surely by then he will have filed for some sort of restraining order.

10

Bearsden Academy

Rebekah Hemming Also known as Bex or T Rex. Rebkahs most embarrassing moment was in 6th year chemistry when she dropped a thermometer and the whole class had to get evacuated. Oh dear! Three words to describe Bex are giggly as hell. Her first crush at Bearsden Academy was Lewis Cummings and her favourite movie is How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. If she was a superhero she would want to be invisible, but we would all be able to still hear that cheeky giggle Bex!

Scott Conlon Also known as Sconlon, this car obsessed boy knows everything about going from 0 to 60 in less than a minute. His other obsession is James Bond, if youve ever been in Scotts car youll see why... Its not an Aston Martin, Scott. Scotts most embarrassing moment was definitely his Justin Beiber rip off haircut.

Jessica Faulds Jessica is known for her distinct laugh and sense of humour, in fact shell laugh at pretty much anything. A prominent member of the prom committee, Jessicas hard work certainly paid off. Jessica is now studying economics at the University of Strathclyde.

Mhairi Mactier Mhairi, or M-Hairy, must be one of the few people in Scotland who has actually hosted a pool party. Known to be fun loving, Mhairis claim to fame was being featured in multiple newspapers for walking about herself in the mud at T in the Park. Mhairi is now in Dundee studying medicine.

11

Bearsden Academy

Kerri Hughes Kerri looks back on her funniest moments in Bearsden Academy being in Mr. Fallons class with her best pal Eilidh. She wishes that she has the power to be invisible which would certainly came in handy in an experience which she classes as her most embarrassing moment being skanted in front of everyone at the ski club.

Russell McGhee Known for his great sense of humour, his family being responsible for the best yum yums in Glasgow and of course his seriously long relationship with Nadia Dadrass. In ten years time Russell will probably still be next to his one true love.. Buckfast.

Millie Gough Millie or Camilla, is a unique individual known for being creative and fashion forward. Her outgoing sense of style puts her up with the best dressed in the year. Millies favourite song is Bed Intruder which probably explains her desired superpower of being able to see through walls. Millie is often seen as exciting and unpredictable.

Sean Dick Sean will always be remembered for his Didier Drogba style celebration in the middle of class when he got an A for his politics essay. Cheerful and funny, Sean is now continuing his studies at the City of Glasgow College. Hopefully he hasnt continued his talent of being able to fall asleep in pretty much every less, even when the teacher is repeatedly saying his name.

12

Bearsden Academy

Lauren Doyle Lauren is currently studying Astronomy at Glasgow University, which comes as no surprise with her dream to one day work for NASA. It seems very ambitious; in fact, some would say shes wired to the moon. Lauren is also known for her dancing and violin skills, a future musical Star maybe?

Fraser Crumless Fraser is more commonly known by his second name and for his lack of crumbs, or as his prom place card said, Fiona. Not to mention his uncanny resemblance to Millhouse in the Simpsons, or pretty much anyone with glasses according to his friends. Fitness fanatic Fraser is now studying at Anniesland college.

Jonathan Barlow Jonny, the other half of the Barlow twins, is much like his sister in that he is supremely talented when it comes to sports. A top class hockey player and a sailor, with the same voice as Stewie from Family Guy; Jonathan was part of the group of pupils who visited Borneo for a month. He is now at the University of Strathclyde.

Laura Gillies Known for doing a spot of modelling and being part of our schools Borneo challenge, Laura is now studying Earth Science at the University of Glasgow.

13

Bearsden Academy

Anna Ritchie Anna, or JD (junior dux) was undoubtedly the most studious pupil in our year. She regularly scored highly in pretty much every test she sat. Although, instead of going straight to Uni, Anna is still busy travelling the world on a gap year.

Calum Martin An all round intellectual, Calum could often be heard over the Politics teachers as he argued with Elliot Porter over Scottish Independence. Calum is now continuing his studies in Edinburgh.

Maddie Edwards One half of the Edwards twins, a nightmare for most teachers as she shared classes with her identical sister. Maddie is now at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.

Sophie Wayt Stylish Sophie is now studying Fashion Design at Cardonald College, yet more proof that the fashion industry is heavily determined by Wayt.

14

Bearsden Academy

Megan Donnelly Keen swimmer Megan came to Bearsden relatively late in school life. However, she took to our school like a fish to water. She is now studying Biomedical Science at Caledonian University.

Fiona Brown Fiona is now studying social sciences at Caledonian University.

Elliot Porter An avid debater and rabid communist, Elliot is certainly a character who wont be easily forgotten from our time at Bearsden Academy. Elliot has represented the school at various debates and has a reputation from never shying away from an argument, it is quite fitting that he cited his most memorable quote as Youre wrong, youre wrong, youre wrong and this is why.. For the majority of our time at school with Elliot, his long hair was one of his defining features. However, those long locks came to an end this year as he had his head shaved in front of the whole school, all in the name of charity. In the weeks to follow his shaven head earned him the nickname of Voldemort by some of his classmates, fortunately Elliot loves Harry Potter and didnt mind too much. In ten years time Elliot reckons hell be stuck in some boring Government job. Either that or heading up a revolution in Latin America. Charlotte Attwood Charlotte Attwood, or Shattwood as shes sometimes known, is yet another character that has never been a shrinking violet in our year. Tall, blonde, beautiful and, on occasion, extremely loud, Charlotte named her most embarrassing moment as when Kirstin Halliday set her hair on fire on her 17th birthday. Fortunately, she survived and continued being loud, opinionated and out-going. Charlotte has never been short of attention from guys, but the lucky fella who she had her 1st crush on at Bearsden Academy was Lewis Mclean. In ten years time she sees herself somewhere not in Scotland. Were not quite sure what shell be doing yet but being a speaker of multiple languages, shell not be short of options and opportunities.

15

Bearsden Academy

Jenny Thistleton JT, or even Jim as she once called herself in French when asked to use to the word Gymnasium in a sentence, describes herself as bubbly, caring and talkative. Jenny is extremely ambitious and hopes to be in a successful, well paid job in ten years time. When asked who her first crush at Bearsden Academy was she replied, Im not telling you! However, the answer to this secret may lie in her choice of her chemistry buddy Struan to take to a desert island. Were not ones to speculate but they do have chemistry together. If Jenny was a superhero shed like to have the ability to listen to everyone except teachers. Luckily, during our time at school she hasnt had this power or shed have missed out on her funniest moment; calling Miss Cassidy a tube. Darren McAllister Darn is one half of the least similar looking twins most of us have even seen. If Darren was stuck on a desert island surrounded by water hes decided the one thing he wants to bring with him is water. Hopefully this desert island has a bit of sunshine so there wont be any repeats of his most embarrassing moment when he slipped and fell on the ice. Fortunately, Darren wasnt the only one with balance issues with his funniest moment being when Wee Waz (thats Waqar by the way) fell. Darrens favourite film is Braveheart and if he had to pick a super power it would be the ability to fly; I suppose its better than falling.

Alastair Doull Me Ally, me love you long time. We can only assume this most memorable quote was directed at Neil Fullarton who Ally sees being in a solid relationship within 10 years time. Ally also said Neil is the one thing hed take to a desert island with him and has already given him the affectionate nickname of the cookie monster. Allys favourite song is Dj Pauly D - Beat that beat up, this comes as little surprise since Neil and Ronny from Jersey Shore were separated at birth, allegedly. The Jersey Shore theme continues with Ally describing himself as Fresh to Death. Ally, a prominent member of the school rugby team, has been al all-round great guy during his 6 years at our school. Lachlan Carter Lachlan Carter, or Lachie as hes known, is a boy forever with his head in the books, quite literally. The boy really does love his literature, often bumping into people in corridors because he wont take his eyes off the page. He described his funniest moment as sumo wrestling in an inflatable suit for children in need. In 10 years time Lachlan sees himself exploring the world and if on his travels he became stranded on a desert island the one thing hed desperately want is a satellite phone. Lachlans favourite song is Hell Song by Sum 41 and his favourite movie is Back to the Future.

16

Bearsden Academy

Sean Mcaneny Wee Sean describes himself as happy, fun and chatty. His favourite song is Summertime by My Chemical Romance and sees himself in a job or in a band in 10 years time. Maybe Sean will be gracing our TV screens with his band in the future. Not in keeping with his care-free, rock star image, if Sean was stuck on a desert island the one thing hed take with him is his girlfriend Sarah Young (I just hope theyre still together by the time this goes to print). Seans most memorable quote is booyah! and his first crush at Bearsden Academy was Jennifer Lyle.

Grant Nicol Picol, no one will ever forget Picol. Not even Nicole, as much as she tries. If you dont know what Im referring to, when asked to describe himself in 3 words Grant gave us: Special, Brilliant and Stalker. Im sure you all know what I mean now. But theres more to Grant than meets the eye, an eye which has probably been pressed up against your window at some point. He really is a good guy, and pretty much harmless, not to mention funny. Grants first crush at Bearsden Academy was his registration teacher; Miss Pilley, allegedly. Although, she did leave the school to go 'traveling' for a year. These two things are probably completely unrelated.. Martin Carroll Martin, or Geggs as his mates call him, probably defines the term class clown. His most embarrassing moment at school was falling on the ice. Never the biggest bookworm, when asked to describe himself in 3 words he wrote: sound, funny. Thats only 2 Martin but never mind. His favourite song is Chris Brown featuring Chipmunk - Champion. In ten years time he sees himself in a well paid, secure job. Apparently Martins first crush at Bearsden Academy only came this year; his girlfriend Gemma Louise. If Martin could have one super power it would be the ability to see through walls. His favourite movie is the hangover.

Euan Wilson Euan Wilson, also known as Pigeon due to his uncanny resemblance to a pigeon, sees himself in ten years time as an engineer. His funniest moment at Bearsden Academy was when he slipped on a can and fell. His most embarrassing moment was shortly after when he then slipped on a can for a second time! Euan's favourite film is The Godfather and if he was stuck on a desert island the one thing he would take would be a helicopter.. and there was me thinking pigeons could fly.

17

Bearsden Academy

Alex Pacteua Alex, commonly referred to as Pacto, joined our year relatively late but certainly made up for lost time. His funniest and most embarrassing moments are combined, a fembarrassing moment perhaps? On a geography trip in Arran, while half way up a mountain, he fell into a river and much to the amusement of everyone else, proceeded to fall several more times when he tried to get out. If Pacto was a superhero his superpower would be Mind Control. He describes himself as 'up for anything' and his favourite film is Taken.

Jenni Parr Jenni, or JP, is madly in love with her rugby playing boyfriend Andy Tighe. If he ever makes it professionally, her career choice of a physiotherapist may well come in handy. If Jenni was stuck on a desert island the one thing she would take is Andy, naturally. However, this wasn't always true, her first crush at Bearsden Academy was Kieran Cowling. Jenni describes herself as small, cute and annoying.

Calum McPherson Calum was asked where he saw himself in ten years time, his response was "please don't be a janitor." His most memorable quote was the term "awkward chunder".. I don't even want to know. If he was stuck on a desert island he would take his physics investigation with him, which explains what sort of super-hero he would be, "Science boy, obviously."

Scott McCallum Scotty Boy; legend and all-round good guy describes himself as honest, funny and easy-going. His funniest moment was when he died his hair red for comic relief. Pragmatic Scott would take a boat with him if he was stuck on a desert island, along with 50 other people from our year who picked the same.. what would be wrong with swimming back, Scott? That's what Jason Bourne does in the Bourne Ultimatum; which is his favourite movie. In ten years time Scott sees himself working with computers.

18

Bearsden Academy

Mark Maclean Mark, or 'Polo', spends a lot of time in his car speeding around the streets of 'the den.' If Mark was a superhero he'd want to be 'the fastest man on earth.' If Mark was stuck on a desert island he'd also take a boat, I assume a motor boat so satisfy his need for speed. Mark describes himself as 'funny, sound and sweet' and his favourite film is The Hangover.

Robert Donnelly Robert, known to his friends as Bert, sees himself 'somewhere sunny' in ten years time. Bert's answer sheet for this didn't give us much to go on, maybe reflected by the fact that when asked to describe himself in THREE words he answered "tired, bored and something that looks like a squiggle where he lost the will to live midway through the third word" If Robert was a super-hero he'd like to be able to read minds.

Neil Fullarton Neil 'Big Chief' Fullarton's funniest moment at Bearsden Academy was when Ally held him at the side of the road so that a car drenched him when driving through a puddle. His most embarrassing moment was tripping over the trampoline in P.E and going face-first into the Horse. In ten years time Neil sees himself as either a scientist or a rugby player. If he was stuck on a desert island the one thing he would bring would be Cheryl Cole.

Eilidh Littlejohn Eilidh, or Eliz to her pals or 'mum' due to sensible ways, sees herself 'somewhere hot' in ten years time. Her first crush at Bearsden Academy was Glen Courtney and her most memorable quote was 'come to the dark side.' The lovely Eilidh describes herself as random, out-going and funny. If she was a superhero she'd like to have the power of invisibility and be able to stop time. If you ever find yourself missing Eilidh Im sure you'll be able to find her on youtube..

19

Bearsden Academy

Hannah Martin Hannah, a member of our schools captaincy team is one of the most loved characters within the year. She named her most memorable quote grim which best describes her most embarrassing moments: my list is endless. Hannah says I really enjoyed all the 5th year lunches they were hilarious but described her funniest moment as making Holly take shots of water on her 18th birthday. Hannahs talents in acting and singing will never go a miss and despite the fact that she cant even remember back to 1st year to tell us her first crush we hope that in 10 years time when she is a successful actress she will remember us! Shanelle MacIntyre Shanelle, also known as Nellie, Shanny, Shazza, Nell and Shaneasy described herself as funny, bubbly and happy. This is very true! A very sensible suggestion, Shanelles superpower wish is to be able to tell if people are lying or not! Maybe in 10 years time when shes a successful physiologist in New York City shell be able to! Being the big music fan that she is Shanelle would bring her acoustic guitar to a desert island. Shell be photographed at all the musical festivals so if you guys wanna see her again, head to Rockness! Despite being a total rock chick, Shanelle has her embarrassing moments too in 2nd year when she walked past 6th year boys and their football rolled towards me. When it came I lifted up my foot so it would roll away and I fell on my back Smooth.

Natasha Varghaei Our bubbly head girl is another one who will never be forgotten within the year. She is well known for her infectious laugh, so it comes as no surprise that her most memorable quote is haha. Tasha named her most embarrassing moment crying all the time when I laugh. She described herself in 3 Cs captain, caring and competitive and as a nominee for nicest eyes, these attributes combined we are sure she will achieve her dream of being married in a big house with kids and a car in ten years time. Natashas a bright girl so were sure shes got some future ahead of her!

Bearsden Academy

James Robertson A hugely popular character within the year, James or Jamesy as he is sometimes known is one wholl leave a lasting impression after he dressed up as Jackie Bird for Children in Need. He is fierce, fierce and fierce. Amy Kingham is the lucky lady to be named James first crush! Despite naming Single Ladies as his favourite song we all agreed that James would put Beyonce to shame in a danceoff. He told us that if he was stuck on a desert island the one thing he would bring would be my dancing shoes. As well as his skills on the dance floor, James has brains too and in ten years time sees himself hopefully as a doctor. Were pretty sure you will be James. Calum Gordon Calum is renowned for two things within our year group, an annoying obsession with all things Celtic-related and, more often than not, ineffectively working his way through the year groups girls. The latter of which is perfectly summarised by Calum himself when he was asked to describe himself in three words playa, playa, playa. Being at Bearsden Academy has had some embarrassing moments for Calum but two stick out more than the rest. Firstly, there is being friends with Matthew McGovern and I think we can all guess what the second one is. Calum is quite an ambitious guy and ten years after leaving the school he sees himself as being a Head of a Columbian drug cartel along with being a succesful County and Western singer. Unfortunately for him his desired superhero power of x-ray vision we can all think why it would be that is more likely to happen for him, or ofcourse him becoming an Olympic trampolinist.

Brian Maguire Brian, or Miggy is he has known by his pals, is quite possibly the laziest person you could come across. A perfect example of his laziness is by him saying that in ten years time, instead of working hard, he sees himself as living in the Bahamas after winning the lottery. Fair play to the boy, at least he has a life plan. As a first year Miggy spent many hours helping out in the H.E. department trying to impress his first crush Mrs. Nicol. His feelings for Mrs. Nicol have never gone away and Brian still tries to get her love by becoming friends with her son Grant, its the only reason why they are friends.

Cameron MacRae Cameron sees himself in ten years time as being top of the man league table for the ninth year in a row, he sees him as being manly and laddish and if he had a superpower it would be being the ultimate man. I think this tells us that Cameron is obsessed with being a man, lets hope he has enough money and wish him luck for the operation. Cameron is possibly the most injury-prone person there is. He says his most embarrassing moment was running into a wall, unsurprisingly this resulted in a trip to the hospital for him.

Jack Love-Cuthill Jack will be the first to admit that he has a love for one person in the year, that is no surprise to anyone. What may be a surprise is that he says he loves Tien-Pei he must have miscounted. Jack sees himself in the future as being an entrepreneur in America, he hopes to be selling ice-cubes to Ugandians. This will not surprise anyone, Jack is known for talking utter nonsense. In his later years in the school Jack went from being a quiet boy to being the most annoying person that exists on Facebook.

Gavin Johnstone Gavin will be remembered as one of the funniest people in the year and as someone who just had a laugh. He rates his two funniest experiences at the school as witnessing Ms. Pilley crashing the classroom door and when Danielle and Carly turned up to non-uniform day with the same outfit on not everyone took pleasure in that. Gav obviously loved his time at the school so much that ten years after he hopes to be back there again, not in an unorthodox capacity however. He hopes to be standing outside geein it yaldi. He may be doing that or trying to put together a relationship with his first crush Mr. Renton. Gavin fell in-love with the now retired French teacher after constantly being held back after class.

Fintan Cuthbertson A quiet boy inside the school, Fintan was not outside of the school. When not at school or playing rugby, he was being fascinated by his idol Georgios Samaras. If he could have one power it would be the power to be Samaras, if he had take one thing to a desert island it would be Samaras and his favourite film is Samaras Greatest Goals Volume One. Fintan is often on the end of jokes within his group of friends due to being rather slow and simple at times, earning him the nickname of Simples. He once even managed to cut his hand open putting his shoe, leaving it gushing with blood. Something like that could only happen to Fintan.

Ryan MacAllister Ryan goes by the name Fancy Ryan, and no wonder why he wore jeans on non-uniform day. When asked what one thing he would take to a desert island, he simply said a football it looks like Ryan plans on spending most of his time playing with himself. Despite being such a fancy, classy individual he is a modest and hard-working guy, and hopes that in ten years in time he will being living with a reasonable income.

Yearbook Committee The yearbook committee this year was run by Miss Grant and Mr Findlay. The Yearbook committee gave pupils the chance to be apart of making this years yearbook through either taking photographs at in-and-out-of school events, writing profiles on other pupils or reporting on school events. The yearbook committee was a great way in which pupils had the chance to get to know other people who they wouldnt normally have associated with. Friends at Bearsden FAB ran on a Tuesday and Thursday lunchtime throughout the year and had a great turnout from the first and second years. Sixth years had the opportunity to play games such as Jenga and connect four or use the arts and crafts materials. The first and second years had fantastic fun with many coming back week after week. Young Enterprise Young Enterprise was an opportunity for pupils to set up their own business in school. The members bought and made products to sell at the Christmas fair, during school and a day at the royal concert hall in Glasgow. They were very successful and were allowed to keep some of the profits that they made, however some of the money had to go to the investors. Young Enterprise helped everyone involved experience what it was like to run their own business and was enjoyed by everyone who took part. Children in Need The Children in Need fundraising this year was a big success. A number of events were planned to occur across a five day period. Such events were Are you Smarter than a 1st year which resulted in a sixth year team claiming victory. The following day a karaoke was held which was enjoyed across all years. Although the singing was not so good, the audience had a good laugh at their expense. On the Wednesday sporting activities were enjoyed by both staff an pupils with the women playing netball and the men winning the football. On Thursday, many sixth year males took part in the leg waxing and head shaving which provided some entertainment. The hopper race and sumo wrestling were enjoyed by all years, and overall making the week a success. Christmas Ceilidh The Christmas ceilidh was enjoyed by all who attended. There was a mixture of traditional ceilidh dancing and a disco in the middle. It was an opportunity to mix with the year below and different groups within the year. It was a fun night and a great send off into the Christmas holidays. The ceilidh band was superb and the dancing didnt stop all night.

Burns Supper

46

Bearsden Academy

On the 26th of January we gathered at the school to celebrate Burns night. When everyone arrived we sat down to a fantastic meal with great speeches and music from Olivia Naio. Then once everything was cleared up there was a ceilidh with everyone up and dancing. As the night drew to a close we joined in a circle to sing Auld Lang Syne. Overall everyone had a fantastic evening. Fashion Show The 19th and 20th of January saw the fantastic 'Kaleidoscope' Fashion Show for 2011 take place. The theme of 'Kaleidoscope' set was in complete contrast to last years making this year all bright and colourful. The show included models from 1st to 6th years who were modeling clothes from shops such as George, Urban Outfitters, Just for you.., Pink Poodle, Number 1, Slaters, New Look, Catherines of Partick, and many more. A lot of hard work and many weeks practice took prior to the nights and nerves increased as the dates approached. Both nights went superbly though and all the models enjoyed getting their hair and make-up done by Gillian Copeland and the Clydebank College make-up crew. All proceeds made went to the charity Cash for Kids. One of the biggest and most memorable events that a large number of the sixth years had a part inone which will be hard to forget! Leavers Day Leavers Day was held up at Mugdock Country Park for all sixth years. There we had hired a bouncy castle, a bouncy slide, gladiator pole and blow-up racing lanes. The day was enjoyed by most of the year as there were a few that could not make it. During our time at Mugdock the captaincy team presented the Bearsden Academy Awards at the top of the slide. At lunchtime we were served with a delicious buffet of sandwiches and crisps. Although the weather was a bit unpredictable at times, everyone managed to have a fantastic day, which will not be forgotten for a long time. Prom On the 6th June gathered in Glasgows Old Fruit Market for our much anticipated Prom night. With everyone dressed to impress, the night kicked off with some drinks and the buzz of conversation filled the entrance hall where we had our photographs taken by Roddy Mackay. After that we headed downstairs to the hall where the main events of the evening took place. We were provided with a delicious meal of which the staple was mixed leaves. The night ended with a ceilidh followed by a disco and was enjoyed by all. What a way to end the year!
