2. Achievement of programme aims

Knowledge and understanding outcomes of the courses were achieved as most of
the teaching and assessment methods are still conducted in a traditional manner
(through direct lectures and written exams). Also intellectual skills were achieved
through the assignments that gave the chance to the students to define problems,
analyze, and get the proper solutions.
The achievements of the practical skills were not that efficient due to lack of the
survey instruments and computer labs.
Most of the general and transferable skills were achieved through the reports
required for the different courses and through the graduating project in which the
students are working in groups and presenting their works both written and oral by
the end of the project
3. Assessment methods
The assessment methods used in the program courses were as following:
1- Written Exams (class exams, mid-term, and final exam).
2- Practical exams especially for surveying courses.
3- Oral exams for the project and some other courses.
4- Writing reports.
The practical exams are still very limited especially we still have no labs.
Also the availability of computers labs in the college is weak almost each six
students have one computer in the lab.
The availability of scientific equipments also very weak; the existing equipments
are old and give no sense about the present technology in the world.
Some other courses should also include both oral exams and reports in their
assessment methods to better reflect the transferable skills.
4. Student achievement
Concerning the jobs that the program graduates had after graduation, there is no
data base available in the department regarding this issue. However, it seems that
the market demand nowadays is high. Most of the graduates work at private
sectors since the public sector employment chances is very limited.
Quality of Learning Opportunities

5. Quality of teaching and learning
Most of the teaching methods are still traditional since it depends mainly on the
black board and chalks. This may be due to lack of the recent teaching tools such
as data shows and overhead projectors in the department or in the faculty as a
whole. The staff members should have very qualified assistant team to help them
in preparing the lectures in a power point format to be more attractive for the
students. The other teaching methods through labs and site visits are still very
limited due to lack of lab equipment and due to inflexibility of the administration
and financial procedures in the faculty to prepare for a site visit by the staff
members.
As for the learning methods, they can be achieved for example through library
books, internet search or practicing. These learning methods are very limited due
to several reasons. Some reasons can be referred to lack of computer labs that are
accessible to the internet network or due to lack of appropriate text books in the
faculty library. However, the limitation of using such learning tools can be referred
to the staff members themselves who should give more concern to the importance
of these learning tools. Weakness of the student English language also can be
considered one of the obstacles since most of the text books and relevant internet
sites are in English.
6. Effectiveness of student support systems
Commentary on both academic and pastoral/personal support for all students

Concerning the outstanding or at risk dropping out students, there no definite and
clear system in the program for support; however, it can be on the individual staff
member level. The faculty also arranges a small group class with low cost based
on the students needs and for any course in the program. As for the low income
students, the faculty financially supports some of them based on social evidence
introduced by the student.
7. Learning resources
a. No. and ratio of faculty members and their assistants to students
Scince the mechatronics is a new section the staff member is very little for the students' number
We almost have two Dr's and three instructors who are specialized in mechatronics.
So we need to send more scholarships for abroad to get new courses and to increase the no. of staff.
b. Matching of faculty members specialization to programme needs.

Faculty members specialization is adequate to programme needs. All fields of
specialization in the program are covered by more than one staff member
c. Availability and adequacy of programme handbook

d. Adequacy of library facilities.
The books are not enough. Not all books are recent.Text books are available. The
library is not equipped with computers for the use of students. (No computerized
search, no internet). The space is not enough compared to the number of students.
Lighting and ventilation are not available.
e. Adequacy of laboratories
We still havn't laboratories so we need the financing to construct laboratories for
students.
We need also scientific aids and equipments for the students.
f. Adequacy of computer facilities

We still havn't computer facilities so we need the financing to construct computer
facilities for students.
g. Adequacy of field/practical training resources
Practical training outside the faculty premises is organized mainly by personal
contact between department members and service centers or vehicle
manufacturers. Students also get trained due to their personal contacts.
h. Adequacy of any other programme needs
Most of the lecture rooms are not well equipped (no sound system, no white board,
no overhead projector, no data show) Ventilation is not suitable for the number of
students attending the room.
8. Quality management
a. Availability of regular evaluation and revision system for the programme
There is no regular evaluation and revision system for the program. However, the
program in the past was revised and evaluated every five years. The proposed
modifications were then transferred to the Engineering Sector in the Universities
Higher Council to be approved.
b. Effectiveness of the system
The old evaluation system is not flexible enough since any course modifications
can not be made before at least seven years from starting the program. In addition,
there were no adequate and effective tools to evaluate the program. On the other
hand, the new evaluation system is more effective and flexible. The evaluation
system is based on a rational procedure based on the opinions of all relevant
stakeholders concerning the program.
c. Effectiveness of Faculty and University laws and regulations for
progression and completion
1- Faculty and program types should be taken into consideration in distributing the
annual budget.
2- Lack of full independency for the departments to manage their affairs.
3- More flexibility is required for purchasing the necessary department equipment.
d. Effectiveness of programme external evaluation system:
i- External evaluators
The external evaluators have not been nominated so far. The university is in the
process to set the criteria for selecting external evaluators and then nominate the
external evaluators based on these criteria. Their roles will be activated in the
next year.
ii- Students
The student evaluation was to some extent adequate and effective since this is the
first time to conduct such evaluation. However, there is no uniform methodology
for distributing the evaluation forms. Some staff members distributed the forms
in the class and some others distributed in the lecture rooms.
iii- Other stakeholders

e. Faculty response to student and external evaluations
9. Proposals for programme development

a. Programme structure (units/credit-hours)
1- Semester system should be cancelled to have whole year courses instead.
2- In case of having more adequate labs, more practical hours for the relevant
courses are needed.
b. Courses, deletions and additions and modifications
1- We need to join the course of Logic Design (CSE 314) with the Computer
Organization (CSE 315) in one Course.
2- We need to join the course of Electronic Engineering (ESE 335) with the
Electronic Circuit (CSE 334) in one Course.
3- We need an individual course for Cad (Computer add design).
c. Staff development requirements
1- A computer accessible to the internet network should be available for each
staff member.
2- Improving the computer skills especially regarding the presentation skills by
attending some training programs.
3- Frequent updating of the scientific information by attending the international
conferences and workshops.
4- Enhancing the scientific cooperation with the international universities
through mutual exchange of staff members.
5- Increasing the monthly salary of the staff members.
