RESEARCH Syllabus

I. COURSE IDENTIFICATION Course Title Modern Communication 1 Course Credit 3 units Course Prerequisite Course Corequisite None Course Description The course provides the students with activities that will help develop their research, oral and written Communication skills. This includes outlining, note-taking, citing sources, giving conclusions and recommendations. Lessons and activities emphasize mastery of English grammar and acquisition of skills in writing a research paper in a specific discipline. II. COURSE OBJECTIVES General Objective At the end of the course, the student should be able to acquire knowledge in basic research and writing skills. Specific The students should be able to: Objectives 1. apply the knowledge and skills in the use of library resources; 2. formulate thesis statements; 3. construct, analyze and interpret non- prose texts; 4. utilize interview or survey as a tool in research writing; 5. write project papers (descriptive reports, instruction reports, case analyses); 6. engage in individual or collaborative projects; and 7. write a research paper.
