Self-Presentation
You are a new employee at a well-known company called DRIVESURE Limited. Unfortunately you have not been introduced officially and you havent had the chance to make acquaintance with the Board of Management so far. Today you and some of your colleagues have received a letter from the board requesting you to come up with a solution for a tremendously urgent problem, which you will find in the attached letter!

You will be allowed to speak 10 minutes in total to introduce yourself as well as to make a proposal with an adequate solution for the DRIVESURE Limited. Please allocate approximately half the time of your speech to the case study and the other half to your self presentation.

All your colleagues are supposed to present their solutions and action plans for this case in just one (the scheduled) meeting. Thus, be aware that you will be interrupted after 10 minutes sharp since the boards daily agenda doesnt allow overtime.

Since most of your senior colleagues have already conducted a Self-Presentation in the past, they have provided you with some hints, which you can refer to in addition to the most important stations in your life. But please do not answer those questions one after the other. They should only provide some ideas for a creative presentation: - What was the outstanding success/biggest disappointment in your life? Why do you think, this success/disappointment happened? And what have you learned from it? - In which situations do you get under pressure? How do you usually cope? - What does your job/work mean to you? - Which job related/private targets do you pursue in the next 5 years?

For the Case Study, your additional task, please refer to information provided in the following letter.

You are an associate of DRIVESURE Ltd. a medium-sized producer of car technology solutions for customers worldwide. The company has close to 10.000 employees who generate a yearly turnover of close to Rs. 5000 crore. For years, the company has relied on the recruitment of excellent young personnel who help to generate innovative ideas and products. This focus on innovation helps to secure and further improve DRIVESUREs premium position in the market.

One the key business area of DRIVESURE is Active Mobile Security with its prime products, the anti-skidding system (ESP), the traction control system (ASR) and anti-lock brake system (ABS). After DRIVESURE has introduced ABS into the market some decades ago, it is now established as a standard safety feature in most new cars.

Due to ongoing process-innovations, the increased demand for ABS systems could be met with less and less employees: While the last version of ABS D still required ninety employees to assemble, test and package the product, the current version ABS E only requires sixty. This tendency was reinforced due to increased competition and a corresponding decrease in sales prices along the product-cycle.

The following table shows the planned employee development in the business area Active Mobile Security: Year Employee demand Actual headcount Reasons 2012 3.555 3.551 Start of production ABS E 2013 3.468 3.512 Process improvements 2014 3.440 3.500 Automation of new production line 2015 3.320 3.440 Series production

We are convinced that with your expertise and knowledge of the market, you can develop medium- and long term strategies in this context. Please consider to balance economic and social aspects when you compare different options and chose suitable measures.
