I would like to thank Mr. Dilip Katkar (H.O.D. My principal thanks to my project guide Mr. Girish Nage without whose help, support and valuable guidance, it would have been impossible for me to reach this far in my endeavor. I thank and Mr. Pravin Nagare and Mr. Tryambak Giri for the technical discussions I had with him. Last but not the least I would thank the operators who co-operated and answered all my queries to a great degree of satisfaction when I was getting acquainted with the assembly lines. Unfortunately sources are not always noted or known. Hence it becomes near about impossible to provide an accurate acknowledgement. Regardless of the source, I would like to express my gratitude to those who may have contributed to this work, even though anonymously.

ABSTRACT

An assembly line is a manufacturing process in which parts (usually interchangeable parts) are added to a product in a sequential manner using optimally planned logistics to create a finished product much faster than with handcrafting-type methods. The assembly line developed by Ford Motor Company between 1908 and 1915 made assembly lines famous in the following decade through the social ramifications of mass production. For an assembly line to be efficient and deliver maximum output, it is important to plan each stage of the line very carefully. Hence the assembly of every part is planned in such a way to avoid all possible process constraints. My contribution was done a detail study to found problem regarding to scratches in assembly of car models assembled in SAIPL, Aurangabad plant and minimize them and also observed the operations done by the line operators and checked their operations according to the correct Process Sheet. Along with this I did a study on all specification study on all models made in SAIPL. I was involved in Quick Rejection Knockdown for minimize the product quality related issue on production line.
