A New National Policy Partnership: Broader. More Inclusive. More Consultative.

You are invited to be a part of Labors new National Policy Forum - a new way of conducting our policy discussion and development. The Forum was created at the last National Conference, so that policy would be discussed and developed in a broader, more inclusive and more consultative manner. The National Policy Forum seeks to actively encourage a partnership between elected representatives, trade unions and rank and file members as well as involving academics, research institutes and members of the public. The Forum will comprise 20 rank and file members, 20 union representatives and 20 federal MPs. The new policy process will be broader, more inclusive, more consultative. In the recent National Survey of Members you told us that you want to be more involved in Labor policy discussion and development. Now is the time to get involved. The National Policy Forum (NPF) will directly involve members and unions in discussing and formulating party policy ensuring that our policy has an even stronger connection to local communities and trade unions. The Forum will develop, explore, assess, evaluate and prioritise policy ideas across Party members, MPs, unions and community. It presents an opportunity for all members to build Labors platform for the future

VOTE
You are encouraged to vote for your states representative/s. 20 members will be elected from around Australia.

The NPF is based on British Labours successful National Policy Forum, which has been operating since 1997. It led to the production of two election-winning Platforms; provided a model to facilitate policy development at all levels of Government; and provided a framework for a strong partnership between Labour MPs and the wider movement.
