Figure 1 shows a function generator containing a non-inverting integrator in loop with Schmitt trigger/comparator with regenerative positive feedback. Both the non-inverting integrator and the Schmitt trigger are implemented using TL082 Op-Amps from Texas Instruments.

Figure 1 Function Generator V01 is the square wave output and V 02 is the triangular wave output. 1) Show that the time period T of the square and triangular wave outputs is given by

What are the theoretical values of peak-to-peak amplitude and frequency of VO1 and VO2? Simulate the system and obtain the transient response at VO1 and VO2 . Measure the peak-to-peak values of VO1 and VO2. Build the system using ASLKv2010 Starter Kit and observe the nature of the plots on an oscilloscope. Measure the peak-to-peak values of V01 and V02. Compare theoretical, simulated and hardware implemented values of peak-to-amplitude and frequency of VO1 and VO2. Convert the above system into VCO (Voltage Control Oscillator) by inserting a multiplier MPY634KP from Texas Instruments in the feedback loop as shown below in Figure 2. Vary the control voltage and observe the change in the frequency of square and triangular wave outputs. Tabulate the readings. Obtain the sensitivity of the VCO from these readings. The sensitivity of the VCO is given by

4.1. Determine the values of frequency and peak-to-peak amplitude of square and triangular wave outputs from the plots obtained from CRO.

Compare theoretical, simulated and hardware implemented values of peak-to-amplitude and frequency of square and triangular waves. Insert a multiplier MPY634KP from Texas Instruments in the feedback loop in your hardware set-up as shown in Figure 2. Capture the hardware set-up including the CRO plot in the form of picture and include it in the report. 6.1. For different values of control voltages, obtain the plots on the CRO. Use these plots to calculate frequency of square and triangular wave outputs and tabulate the readings.
