Diliman 1101 Quezon City Member: International Council on Archives, SEAPAVAA 05 October 2012 __________________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ Dear Sir/Madam: With the successful implementation of the 1st SFA Workshop held at the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in Manila early this year, the Society of Filipino Archivists has decided to enhance the module and thereby conduct the "Workshop on Preservation of Paper-Based Collections: Series 2" on 5-7 December 2012 at the Hotel Supreme Convention Center, Baguio City. Preservation is the heart of all undertakings in the care of records. With this as its central premise, the workshop aims to help participants acquire basic conservation skills in preserving paper-based collections. It will address concerns like causes and control of paper deterioration, condition assessment, physical and chemical stabilization and proper storage and handling among others. Hence, we are inviting all archivists, records officers, librarians, curators, cultural heritage workers, secretaries, administrative staff and other personnel incharge of records and archives to attend. The fee is Php 6,000.00 for live-in participants inclusive of registration, accommodation (December 5, 2:00 p.m. December 7, 12:00 noon), meals (December 5, a.m. snacks December 7, p.m. snacks), workshop materials, kit and other administrative expenses. Live-out participants shall be charged Php 5,500.00 inclusive of registration, meals (a.m. snacks, lunch, p.m. snacks), handouts, workshop materials, kit and other administrative expenses. An amount of Php 100.00 is added to the registration fee if paid in cheque issued outside Metro Manila. Participants are requested to bring damaged/deteriorated paper-based materials as their specimen for the workshop.
