Oracle Fusion Project Portfolio Management

3.1. Oracle Fusion Project Foundation
3.1.1. Product Overview
Oracle Fusion Project Foundation includes common components that are shared across products within Oracle Fusion Project Portfolio Management. It includes the basic project plan structure and components such as resource breakdown structures, rate schedules, pricing, burdening, and cross-charge processing.

3.1.2.

New or Changed Features

The following features are changed in this release. 3.1.2.1. Project Status Service Project status changes are often triggered by external events or systems. This is especially true when the Fusion application coexist with legacy or custom systems. For example, you may receive a work authorization for a project in a custom work authorization system and need have the project status automatically changed to indicate authorization has been received. Requiring manual updates to each project is prone to inaccuracies and delays. In 11.1.4.0.0, the project service is enhanced to support project status changes. A method is provided to retrieve the current project status and the next allowable statuses. Another method is provided to change the status. This method validates that the status change is allowed and initiates the work flow approval if enabled. 3.1.2.2. Project Service Descriptive Flexfields Descriptive flexfields can be used to maintain project information that is not captured in the standard Oracle Fusion data model. This information supports unique business requirements, including accounting, reporting, business processes, and statutory compliance. Oracle Fusion Project Portfolio Management now provides a service which allows customers to initiate the project creation process outside of the application. For example, you may need to initiate the project creation process from a custom proposal management system. In this release, the project creation service includes attributes for descriptive flexfields segments so all pertinent project information can be captured when the project is created.

3.2.

Oracle Fusion Project Costing

3.2.1. Product Overview
Oracle Fusion Project Costing captures commitments and costs from across the Fusion applications as well as supporting third-party integrations. The unique cost collection and processing needs of different sources are streamlined to provide timely insight into validated project costs.

3.2.2.

New or Changed Features

The following feature is new in this release. 3.2.2.1. Capture External Commitments Project managers and project accountants need to have full visibility to all costs related to a project. These costs include commitment transactions (requisitions, purchase orders, and unpaid invoices) which are managed in external systems such as PeopleSoft Procure to Pay. In earlier releases, visibility to commitment transactions is limited to purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and invoices in Oracle Fusion Purchasing and Oracle Fusion Payables. There is no insight into the commitment transactions in third-party applications. In 11.1.4.0.0, new functionality is available to import, view, and summarize commitment transactions from third-party applications. This complete visibility allows for quicker and better decision making.

3.3.

Oracle Fusion Project Control

3.3.1. Product Overview
Oracle Fusion Project Control provides full-function project planning, progress management, budgeting and forecasting, as well as delivered integration to Microsoft Project.

3.3.2.

New or Changed Features

The following feature is changed in this release. 3.3.2.1. Spread Units and Cost by Number of Days In earlier releases, Oracle Fusion Project Control spreads units across multiple periods based on the number of periods in the spread rather than by the number of days in each period. Spreading by the number of periods could be inaccurate and misleading, especially if an organization uses a 5-4-4 or a 4-4-5 calendar or has short periods at the beginning or ending of a fiscal year. In 11.1.4.0.0, units and costs are spread by the number of days in a period, which more accurately reflects the costs or amounts for each period. If planning start or end dates are in the middle of an accounting or project accounting period, the system correctly allocates the amounts for the partial period by the number of days in the period.

3.4.

Oracle Fusion Project Billing

3.4.1. Product Overview
Oracle Fusion Project Billing accelerates invoice processing while reducing billing errors through a functionally rich work area offering visibility into formatted invoices with estimated taxes. Embedded analytics for contract revenue, invoice, profitability and margin give insight into potential contract and payment problems.

3.4.2.

New or Changed Features

The following features are new or changed in this release. 3.4.2.1. Automatic Tax Calculation Oracle Fusion Project Billing provides robust functionality to view the net before tax, tax, and gross after tax invoice amounts before submitting the invoice to Oracle Fusion Receivables. In earlier releases, the billing specialist needs to manually initiate the tax calculation on every invoice before the amounts are available. In 11.1.4.0.0, the generate invoice process automatically calls the tax engine so these amounts are immediately displayed on an invoice without manual intervention. 3.4.2.2. Transfer Additional Attributes to Oracle Fusion Receivables If Auto Accounting in Oracle Fusion Receivables uses inventory items to derive accounting, the inventory item must be populated by all sources. To co-exist with other Fusion and non-Fusion application sources, Oracle Fusion Project Portfolio Management must pass the inventory item identifier to Oracle Fusion Receivables. In 11.1.4.0.0, the inventory item from the contract line is now passed to Oracle Fusion Receivables. 3.4.2.3. Drill Down to Oracle Fusion Receivables Oracle Fusion Project Portfolio Management transfers released invoices to Oracle Fusions Receivables, which then generates the final invoice to the customer. In earlier releases, billing specialists are not able to drill from the accepted invoice to the final invoice in Oracle Fusion Receivables. To quickly view the final invoice, the billing specialist needs to remember or write down the draft invoice number, navigate away from the contract invoice work area to the receivables invoice work area, search for and select the final invoice, navigate back to the contract invoice work area, and search again for the draft invoice. In 11.1.4.0.0, a single-click drill down is available from the accepted invoice in Oracle Fusion Project Billing to the final invoice in Oracle Fusion Receivables. A single-click then returns the billing specialist back to the accepted invoice in Oracle Fusion Project Billing.

Oracle Fusion Transaction Business Intelligence for Projects

3.5.1. Product Overview
Oracle Fusion Transaction Business Intelligence for Projects provides an intelligent and intuitive self service, real-time reporting tool, built on Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition technology, which enables users to enquire and report on project transaction data using pre-packaged content.

3.5.2.

New or Changed Features

The following features are new or changed in this release. 3.5.2.1. External Commitment Availability in OTBI The Commitment Real Time subject area in Oracle Fusion Transaction Business Intelligence allows you to query commitment transaction data for cost and project performance analysis. In earlier releases, commitment transactions are limited to transaction from Oracle Fusion Procurement and Oracle Fusion Payables. Transactions from third-party applications such as PeopleSoft Procure to Pay are not available. In 11.1.4.0.0, the commitment subject area has been enhanced to include external commitments imported into Oracle Fusion Project Costing. This enhancement makes all committed costs associated to a project available for reporting in OTBI. 3.5.2.2. Revenue Journal Availability in OTBI The Revenue Real Time subject area in Oracle Fusion Transaction Business Intelligence allows you to query transaction data and to prepare reports for revenue analysis, monthend close, and reconciliations. In earlier releases, the Revenue Real Time subject area does not contain accounting information from Oracle Fusion Subledger Accounting. In 11.1.4.0.0, the Revenue Real Time subject area is enhanced to include subledger accounting information, including events, journal lines, accounting classes, and account dimensions. This information allows you to effectively report on all areas related to revenue and to prepare detailed account reconciliations between the general ledger and Oracle Fusion Project Billing.
