RHYTHM REVUE MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Rhythm Revue and Felix Hernandez have developed the Rhythm Revue

Merit Scholarship program to encourage students within our community to pursue a higher education. Up to two $2,600.00 scholarships will be awarded to students entering or continuing full time college in Fall 2012. The selection of the recipient(s) will be based on (1) the student's most recent school grades, (2) an essay, and (3) a letter or letters of recommendation from a guidance counselor in the case of a graduating high school student, or from a college instructor in the case of a continuing college student. Standardized test scores will not be a determining factor in the decision. ELIGIBILITY Applicants must be currently enrolled in high school (senior year), or in an accredited college program (full time). GPA minimum 3.0 or B. A complete application must be submitted and postmarked no later than April 28, 2012. Each award recipient will be awarded $1,300 at the beginning of the Fall 2012 semester/term, and then another $1,300 at the beginning of the next semester/term at the same institution if a GPA average of at least 3.0 has been achieved during the first awarded semester/term, and if the student continues on a full time basis. Verification of enrollment in an accredited college or university is required. Scholarship funds are paid directly to the institution in which the student is enrolled. Scholarship funds will not be paid directly to the award recipient. Scholarship recipients may not be employees, partners, sponsors, or family members of the aforementioned, of Rhythm Revue or any of its business affiliates, including Emmis Communications, Roseland, and Newark Public Radio. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS All applications must include: (1) A current certified high school or college/university transcript that contains GPA, average grade, or class rank if applicable. (2) A two or 3 page personal essay, "What Music Means to Me." (3) At least one letter of recommendation from a high school guidance counselor or college instructor or professor. SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION All completed applications must be mailed through the U.S. postal system as First Class Mail (no dropoffs, overnights or express mails will be accepted). Applications must be postmarked no later than April 28, 2012. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Except for the initial application request, email or other internet-based submissions containing application materials, or email regarding the application process will not be accepted and will disqualify an applicant. Award recipients will be announced in June at Roseland and at classicSoul.com. Award recipients must provide a photograph that can be projected at Roseland and published at classicSoul.com.
