"Hindsight, part 1"

Previously On Lost:

Seasons 1-6

1) EXT. JUNGLE. DAWN.

Someone is running through the jungle and as they run they are dodging trees and
branches and look to be in a crazy hurry. The camera cuts to someone running behind them
just as fast in hot pursuit. The music builds until finally, the person in the back catches up
to the person running in the front and they tackle them! There is a slight skirmish when
finally, the two people are revealed and Kaname has tackled Mikhail! Mikhail turns and
screams:

Mikhail:

Who are you?!

Kaname:

Mikhail, it's me! Kaname! From the 80's!

Mikhail turns over and looks at him. Mikhail doesn't seem to recognize him.

Mikhail:

What kind of lie is this? Who are you?!

Kaname looks at Mikhail as if he doesn't understand why he doesn't recognize him.

As Kaname thinks, Mikhail headbutts him and sends Kaname flying backwards! Kaname
lands on his back and Mikhail gets up, but Kaname grabs Mikhail's leg and Mikhail falls and
the bible, glass eye and movie stills go flying. Mikhail quickly gets up and grabs them all and
runs off. Kaname stands up and looks around him.

Kaname:

What the...

Kaname looks down and he sees something laying in the grass. He picks it up and we see
that it is movie footage. Mikhail must have not got this splice. Kaname picks it up and
holds it up to the dawn light. A smile crosses his face and he turns back from where he had
just come from. The camera cuts to:

2) INT. SWAN HATCH. DAWN.

Jin, Ji Yeon, Charlotte, Daniel and Sayid walk out of the Swan Hatch and stand outside in
the early morning light. Dan turns back to Sayid and says:

Daniel:
 Do you think anyone else has made it?

Sayid:

There is only one way to know for sure.

Jin:

We look.

Sayid:

The Island is a big place... and if we're the only ones left...

Charlotte:

Don't say that.

Sayid:

I am sorry, Charlotte, but I am only stating the likely probability.

Charlotte looks down. Suddenly, we hear a crack come from the bushes off to the side of
them. Sayid and the group flings around and we see a man in a Yellow Bio-Hazard suit walk
out! He is holding a gun! Sayid draws his weapon and points it at the man.

Daniel:

I guess we're not alone...

Sayid:

It's happening.

DI Man:

Put your weapon down! Now!

Sayid:

Who are you?!

DI Man:

Lower your weapon!

Jin is standing there and he looks over at the DI guy. He looks a bit confused as he looks
at the man.

DI Man:

I said lower your weapons!

He cocks his gun. Jin turns to Charlotte and Daniel and Ji Yeon and says:
 Jin:

Run, run!

Daniel and Charlotte look at each-other. Ji Yeon doesn't budge.

Ji Yeon:

Go without me, I'm too weak.... go!

Daniel and Charlotte jump back and then they book it into the woods. Sayid and Jin
stand there looking at the DI Guy. Finally, Jin says:

Jin:

Radzinsky. Put down your gun.

The DI Guy shoots a look at Jin and we can finally see his face. It is, in fact, Radzinsky
from 5.6, "Heart of Darkness." He does not lower his gun though. The music builds and the
camera cuts to:

3) EXT. BEACH. HYDRA. DAWN.

Kate and Nadia are talking. Kate looks at her very directly and says:

Kate:

Why didn't you tell me this before?

Nadia:

I didn't want anyone taking it... just in-case.

Kate:

You know, I'm beginning to think you know a hell of a lot more than you let on.

Nadia smiles. She puts her hand out as if to show Kate the way. Kate screams over to
Zach, Emma, Claire and Walt.

Kate:

Come on! There's a boat. (Kate says this with animosity towards Nadia).

Claire runs over and says to Kate off to the side:

Claire:

What are we going to do?

Kate:
 Go back and see who else made it. Chances are, if they were in underground hatches...
then they had a chance.

Claire:

Where'd this boat come from?

Kate:

Remember the Elizabeth... Desmond's boat? Yeah... that's still around.

Claire:

Kate. What's next? After this? We're never getting off of here, are we?

Kate:

I don't know, Claire... I don't know...

With that, the group takes off towards the beach and Vincent follows. Nadia looks back as
the flash sound begins...

4) --FLASH-- EXT. BEACH. DAY.

The wind is blowing as the camera is focused on the blue sky above. It slowly pans down
and we see Margo Shephard standing there and she is staring at something with a tear
screaming down her face. She walks over to a stone monument and she bends down in
front of it. The camera cuts to the stone monument that has a torch on each side of it. On
the monument we see the names of some of the people that Claire listed off when they
burned the fuselage in season 1. She puts her hand on the monument and she traces the
name of "Jack Shephard." The camera pulls back and we see that it is a memorial on the
beach in LA for Flight 815 that has crashed on September 22nd, 2004. Margo stands up and
she starts to walk backwards as we see another woman walk up and put a rose down on the
memorial. The woman says:

Woman:

Who did you lose?

Margo looks at her and she looks down and says:

Margo:

My son, he was a doctor.

The woman turns around and it is Nadia, normal age for 2004, as she looks at Margo and
flashes a sincere smile. She turns back and says:

Nadia:

I lost my friend seven years ago... but I've finally found him, here.

Margo:
 I don't understand.

Nadia:

We were separated.

Margo:

I'm so sorry.

Nadia:

Yes, but don't be. I know this sounds strange, but... I feel at peace.

Margo:

How?

Nadia:

I know that somewhere... out there... we are finally together.

Margo flashes a warm smile. Nadia steps back and says:

Nadia:

We will always be together. Maybe you should remember that... we all lost someone a
month ago on that flight, but... somewhere and someday, we will be with them again.

Nadia flashes a nice smile at Margo and she walks off. Margo stands there and watches
Nadia go and then turns back to the monument and she smiles as the flash sound begins...

5) --- END OF FLASH-- EXT. STREET. MORNING.

We follow as Jack comes walking out of the coroner's office in Sydney Australia. He stops
for a moment and he looks horribly upset. We then see, from across the street, Sawyer
sitting in a car with a gun in his lap. Jack gets up and he wipes his face and he looks around
then starts to walk down the street towards the hotel. Sawyer, in his car, follows. The scene
cuts to:

6) INT. HOTEL. MORNING.

Jack is walking down the hallway to his room. He pauses for a moment and he puts his
hand up against the door and rests his head on it. The camera cuts through the eyes of
someone from around the corner of the hall. It is Sawyer and he is holding a gun up to
Jack!!! Sawyer lifts the gun up and he aims it at Jack. He puts his finger on the trigger as
Jack puts his key-card into the slot. Jack is in the cross-hairs of the gun as BANG!!!! The
camera abruptly cuts to:

LOST

7) EXT. BLACK ROCK. MORNING.

The camera follows someone up into the Black Rock through the side hole and they make
their way through the ship. To the left and the right are bodies of people, this time, they
aren't skeletons because the ship had just crashed there. The camera pans up and it is
Richard. He is making his way up to the top deck when suddenly someone grabs his arm!!!
Richard turns and he looks as a young woman in chains and clasps looks at him. He just
stares at her and says:

Richard:

I'm sorry... I... I can't change anything.

Woman:

Please... Mister... are we in Australia yet?

Richard:

No. No, we're not.

Richard takes her hand off of him and he makes it to the top deck. There are bodies of
men everywhere from the attack of the pirate ship as seen in 5.10. Richard looks down and
he sees the body of the head pirate lying on deck. He looks around and he spots the
captain's cabin. He rushes inside and looks around. He looks down and there is a bloody pen
laying on the ground. He looks up and rushes behind the captain's desk. He starts opening
all the drawers and rummaging through the cabin looking for something.

Richard:

Damn it, he said it's in here...

Voice:

The box with the combination 4,8,15,16,23,42?

Richard shoots a look upwards. Standing there is Leonard!! He is wearing his Santa Rosa
robe.

Richard:

Who the hell are you?!

Leonard:

Just a friendly helper.

Richard:

What... why?

Leonard:
 It wasn't until I became unstuck that I know what the equation really is all about.

Richard:

You're... unstuck? Wait... you are Leonard Simms... you're... dead.

Leonard:

Unstuck.

Richard:

....right. What do you mean, what the equation is all about? I discovered the equation.

Leonard:

Yes, but I broke it. You didn't give the numbers their true values, Richard. They must be
used in order.

Richard:

The factors you mean?

Leonard:

Yes, each has a number. And they must follow their path in the correct order until the box is
open.

Richard:

You mean, Jacob's box?

Leonard:

Yes, but quit being so literal. I mean the Pandora's box. Chaos.

Richard:

I...

Leonard:

Use the factors to restore chaos, Richard, restore chaos upon the world!

With that, Leonard points. Richard looks and where Leonard is pointing is the box.
Richard looks back to Leonard, but he is gone. Richard rushes up to the box. There is a
small box with combination key on it. He puts in the numbers and it clicks open. He looks
inside and there are 6 sheets of paper. On the top, it reads "Sun Kwon: 4." There is a list of
details on it. He flips to the next paper. It reads "Hugo Reyes: 8." Richard says to himself:

Richard:

They're going in order... the combination to unlock chaos.

 Richard looks at a sheet of paper that is in the lid of the box. He pulls it out. It reads,
"Emily, use these people, in this order, to stop my rule of fate and return the world to
freedom. To return it to unsupervised chaos." Richard looks up and smiles.

Richard:

Return free will. Chaos.

Richard flips over the box and looks at the next sheet. He opens it and it says: "Sayid
Jarrah: 15."

8) EXT. JUNGLE. MORNING.

We are focused on two people's legs running through the jungle when the camera pans
up to show that it is Charlotte and Daniel. Charlotte stops and turns around and looks at
Daniel and says:

Charlotte:

I... I thought they were all dead...

Daniel:

They are... that wasn't one of them.

Charlotte gets a confused look on her face and turns back to Daniel.

Charlotte:

What are you talking about?

Daniel:

What we were trying to do back there... you know, starting the machine...

Charlotte:

Yeah, which we didn't do...

Daniel:

Yeah, well, the Swan is used for keeping time in a confined zone. It stabilizes time...

Charlotte:

Yeah?

Daniel:

Yeah, that's why pregnant women die on the Island... when they started the button
pressing it wasn't a continuous time because in that 4 minutes when the button could be
pressed, that left open 4 minutes of lost time.

Charlotte:
 What the hell are you talking about Daniel...

Daniel:

That's why you were born on this Island. They had that machine keeping it on a steady
automatic reset of the electromagnetism. Once they switched to the button, time was never
in a constant flow on the Island... which leaves the development of the fetus in the second
trimester to not develop correctly. (this was already covered in 6.8)

Charlotte:

What happens when we don't press the button at all?

Daniel:

This does! Once the Epsilon hit... the Island's electromagnetism isn't being balanced... we're
jumping all over the place, Char! That man, he was from the DI in the 80's. His name was
Sebastian Radzinsky... he came here in 1988.

Charlotte:

Then we're in 1988! We can radio out!

Daniel:

No... we don't know when we are. They could have jumped back here. Things are going to
start getting really strange Charlotte.

Charlotte quickly turns and holds her head in her hands. She then turns back and she
grabs Daniel causing him to drop his pack. She screams to him:

Charlotte:

We need to get off this freakin' Island, Daniel!

Daniel turns to pick up his things and he sees his notebook that he had written
everything in (and notes to himself from the future/past - depending on how you look at it.)
The notebook is laying with the back cover face-side up. There is a note on it "Daniel! Read
this!" He looks at it strangely and he picks it up. He looks at Charlotte who is looking at him
with the same confused expression.

Daniel:

I never saw this before... Charlotte... things are changing.

Charlotte looks at Daniel as the music builds and the camera cuts to:

9) EXT. JUNGLE. MORNING.

We see Mikhail running towards the Arrow and he stops to catch his breath and he looks
around him. He looks down at the bible again and smiles. He says:

Mikhail:
 No reason to worry now, Jacob.

Mikhail starts off again and he steps on something when suddenly he is pulled upwards
by a simple rope trap! He is hanging by his one leg and his body is upside down as someone
walks out of the jungle. The camera is from Mikhail's POV as it swings back and forth and it
a bit blurry. Finally it comes into focus and we see that it is Kaname!

Kaname:

I learned a thing or two from crazy Frenchie's guide to bagging boar and one eyed freaks...

Mikhail just stares at him.

Kaname:

I heard you say something about Jacob... care to elaborate?... or would you rather me poke
out your remaining eye?

Mikhail doesn't talk. He just sits there. Kaname, in a sudden and almost uncharacteristic
display of anger, rushes up to Mikhail and kicks him in the head! Mini-flash sound as the
camera is focused on Mikhail:

9B: PIRATE SHIP. DAY.

The scene takes place as we saw in 5.10, "The Eyes Have It," but instead of seeing
through the captain's POV we see his face. He is dragged into his chamber by the Pirate.

Pirate:

Because I admire you so, Captain, I will spare your life... but, I am taking your cargo and
your ship. A good pirate is always looking for a new crew... and under their current...
circumstances... I don't think they'd mind one pence.

The pirate turns and looks out the door and motions for someone to come in.

Pirate:

Thank you for the fine vessel, Admiral. I'll be takin' 'er now...

Captain Jacob:

NO! This is MY ship!!

With that said another pirate comes in and pushes Jacob down onto the captain's desk
where he sees the Journal. He picks it up, quickly, and puts it in his coat. The pirate behind
Jacob, who we can't see, is tying him up, but Jacob grabs a sharp quill pen off of the desk
and turns and shoves it into the pirate.

Pirate 2:

Ahhhhh!!!! My EYE!!!!
 This time we see who Pirate #2 is. It is Mikhail! This is how he lost his eye!! The mini-
flash sound starts...

9C: JUNGLE. MORNING.

Mikhail swings back and forth and he mumbles.

Mikhail:

I'm doing this to free Jacob... free him from cabin.

Kaname:

What?!

Kaname looks around. He realizes something and says:

Kaname:

We aren't in 18 whatever it is... are we? Damn it! The Swan wasn't turned on... crap crap
crap.

Kaname looks at Mikhail and bends down to eye level. He says:

Kaname:

What if I told you that the Captain is already freed. What if I told you that you freed him...
or... will free him. Depending when we are, of course...

Mikhail looks at Kaname, unsure and slightly confused, as the flash sound begins...

10) ---FLASH--- INT. JACOB'S CABIN. NIGHT.

Mikhail comes running up to Jacob's Cabin and he is bleeding from the chest and his
hand appears to be blown off. He had just blown Charlie up. He runs to the side and he
starts kicking the Holmium dust circle away from around the cabin. He clutches his hand
and he rushes inside the cabin where he looks around, but doesn't see anything.

Mikhail:

Master? I freed you! You can come out now!

Mikhail looks around, but we see nothing. He turns and Christian is standing in the
corner. Mikhail backs up.

Christian:

Thank you Mikhail.

Mikhail:

Who are you?!

Christian:
 I speak on behalf of Jacob.

Mikhail:

No one speaks on behalf of the Captain!!!

Christian:

You're so right. However, the captain is preoccupied for the time being.

Mikhail:

What have you done with him?!

Christian:

I've moved him. To the Temple for safe keeping until I'm done prepping my boys for what
they need to do.

Mikhail looks at Christian very confused.

Christian:

He would be very thankful for all your help in keeping him safe from the DI all these years,
Mikhail. Unfortunately, I'm not as grateful and I won't honor the arrangement the two of
you had. Mikhail, you can go now.

Mikhail's eyes get huge as there is a sound outside of the cabin. Mikhail turns to run to
the door, but Christian stops him and Mikhail ends up at the window and he looks out where
we see Hurley standing there looking in as seen in 4.1 "Beginning of the End." It is Mikhail's
eye Hurley saw!!! Christian grabs a long machete and he swings it as the flash sound
begins...

11) --END OF FLASH-- EXT. ARROW STATION. MORNING.

Kaname has cut Mikhail down. He looks at him very seriously and says:

Kaname:

You do whatever it is you have to do. Hide that in there. Do not ever mention that you saw
me. I don't know what kind of thing that could screw up. Do you understand?

Mikhail:

Yes.

Kaname:

Good.

Kaname quickly pulls the roll of film he had stole earlier off of Mikhail and he looks at it
and puts it back in his coat.
 Mikhail:

Stop!

Kaname stops and he turns around.

Mikhail:

You speak of me as if you know me... but I have never met you.

Kaname:

I... I will. I think. We met in 1980.

Mikhail:

My friend, this is 1988... and I've never met you.

With that, Kaname looks very surprised. He whispers to himself.

Kaname:

Things are changing...

Kaname looks back up at Mikhail and now Mikhail is standing right in front of him! Mikhail
takes out a knife and he stabs Kaname in the stomach with it!!! Kaname falls to his knees
then to the ground. Mikhail rushes into the Arrow Station. The camera cuts to Kaname's
face as his body goes limp and his eyes shut. The camera cuts to:

12) INT. HOTEL HALLWAY. DAY.

The camera is focused on a body-bag in the hallway of the hotel where we last saw
Sawyer aiming his gun at Jack. The camera pans up to Malcolm, the police officer who was
helping Boone in 1.13, "Hearts and Minds." He says:

Malcolm:

We have any suspects?

Policeman:

No, sir. We think he was shot from behind.

Malcolm:

Damn it. What is it with these Americans and violence?

Policeman:

Speaking of, the one who attacked the Minister of Agriculture... we got him a flight out of
here this afternoon.
 Malcolm:

Good, the less we have of them around, the better. (sigh) Zip him up, get him to the
morgue. Wait, did you find any ID on him?

Policeman:

Yeah, he had a wallet on him. Turns out his name is (the camera focuses on the ID). James
Ford.

In the background we see Jack come out of his room and look down at the body bag. He
nods at the policemen and he walks past down the hall. The camera cuts to:

13) INT. SYDNEY AIRPORT. DAY.

We see Jack standing at the gate arguing with the attendant about his father's casket.
We then see Cindy walk up and say:

Cindy:

I'll take care of this.

Cindy smiles at Jack as the camera cuts to the background where we see Libby walking
into a woman's restroom. She walks over to the mirror and she swallows hard. She looks
crazy.

Libby:

What did you do Elizabeth?! You killed the man! Who was he?!

Elizabeth:

I did what Hurley said had to be done. We trust Hurley, don't we?

Libby:

You need to go away now... just go away! You are nothing but trouble!

Elizabeth:

Only you can make me go away, Libby.

Libby closes her eyes tight and she opens them. She looks almost calm when someone
walks into the ladies room. Libby turns around and it is Ana-Lucia!!! Libby wipes a tear
away and Ana looks at her and says:

Ana-Lucia:

You all right?

Libby:

I am now.
 Libby walks out of the bathroom and she walks directly into Sawyer! Her facial expression
is surprise as she looks at him. He looks at her and says:

Sawyer:

Hey, watch it, will ya!?

He doesn't look at her twice as he walks away. (This must be the Sawyer from regular
2004 time). Libby thinks about it and she just shakes her head and she walks towards the
gate as we hear an announcement say:

Announcement:

Attention! Flight 815 to Los Angeles is now boarding at Gate 23.

Libby looks down at her ticket and it says 815. The camera cuts to:

14) EXT. STREET. DAY.

The camera is focused on Widmore Industries on the Widmore skyscraper in London,

England. It slowly pans down to reveal a very dirty and Island-looking Juliet laying on the
ground. The camera focuses on her face as the flash sound beings...

15) --FLASH-- INT. FUNERAL. DAY.

The camera is focused on Juliet's face as she stands at a casket looking down in. She
says:

Juliet:

I'm so sorry I wasn't here for you...

The camera pans down to reveal that she is looking at Rachel.

Juliet:

He told me the cancer was cured. He lied.

Juliet puts her hand on Rachel's hand and a tear forms in her eye.

Juliet:

I would have... I would have found a way back if I knew you were sick...

In the background we see Richard Alpert standing in a doorway. He is looking at a

pamphlet and it says: "Rachel Carlson 1969-2006." The camera cuts back to Juliet.

Juliet:

I uh... I'm glad you never knew the truth about Julian, but I'm certain that if you could talk
now... that you'd be happy at the situation... even though I can't raise him myself...
because I have somewhere to be... he will be in good hands. I promise you that.
 Juliet's eyes start to well up with tears as she turns to look at Julian, who is now nearly 4
years old.

Juliet:

James is a wonderful father... and he has a little girl who Julian will absolutely adore. I'm so
sorry Rachel. I love you so much.

Juliet kisses her sister on the forehead and she turns and walks down the isle and picks
up Julian. She turns, and with a determined look, walks towards Richard and she stops and
looks at him.

Juliet:

Do you have it?

Richard holds up a piece of paper. It is the death certificate for Rachel and paternity
papers for Julian.

Juliet:

Let's go.

Juliet, Richard and Julian walk out of the church and as the doors slam shut the flash
sound begins...

16) --END OF FLASH-- Juliet jumps up from the sidewalk and she looks up at the Widmore
building and says:

Juliet:

Of course... she was thinking about her father when she sent me here...

Just then, Juliet looks down at the doors and Charlotte comes walking out! Juliet jumps
back and she shields her face. She turns and she walks to a newsstand and watches as
Charlotte walks to a car with Charles Widmore. She overhears them.

Widmore:

Take care of yourself, Charlotte.

Charlotte:

Thank you for funding this, uncle. I've never been to Tunisia.

Widmore:

Well, money is no object, my dear. Remember, be safe... I need you alive when you return.
We have much to talk about.

Charlotte:

Oh?
 Widmore:

One thing at a time, my dear.

Charlotte gets into the car and Widmore slams the door shut. The car pulls off as Juliet
watches. She looks up at Widmore and he turns and he makes direct eye contact with her!!!
Juliet jumps back and hides on the side of the news-stand. She looks flustered. Then, we
hear what sounds like a television broadcast. Juliet listens and we hear a snippet that says
"Oceanic Flight 815." Juliet turns and stands directly in front of the news-stand where there
is a TV. People start to crowd around and Juliet watches as the announcer says this:

Announcer:

This just in, Oceanic flight 815 from Sydney to Los Angeles has went missing somewhere
over the Pacific. Air Traffic Control has said that they last spoke with Pilot Seth Norris an
hour ago before the plane went into radio silence. This is a recording of the final
conversation:

The newscaster plays the audio:

Seth:

This is 815, come in tower.

Tower:

This is tower, what's your 20, 815?

Seth:

We've seemed to have lost... (static)... We don't have a bearing... (static, but what sounds
like a struggle)... Hey!...

Tower:

815, are you all right?

Stewart:

This is co-pilot, Joseph Stewart, we just hit some turbulence...

Tower:

What's the pilot's status, Stewart?

Stewart:

Shutting down radio so we don't lose comm in the storm. Over and out. (Stewart abruptly
shuts off radio).

Juliet stares at the TV as she says:

Juliet:
 Damn it, Joe... You shut it off...

Juliet says this because we know that Joe Stewart was also the one who tried to adopt
Aaron for the "Others" as seen in 5.2 "Genesis." He shut the radios off and took the plane
off the radar. We already knew Joe was "Others" in 5.2, but we didn't know his actual role in
the plane's trip to the Island. Now we do.

Announcer:

We will continue live coverage until we locate Flight 815 or have any further details... I am
Conor Baulzack, signing off...

Juliet turns and walks through the crowd until she gets through and she looks up at the
street. Sitting there with her back window down is Ms. Hawking! Juliet looks at her with
wide-eyes as Hawking says:

Ms. Hawking:

Please, Juliet, get in... it looks like you could use some answers... and a shower.

Juliet stands there looking at Hawking's car as the flash sound starts...

17) INT. SWAN. DAY.

Jin, Ji-Yeon and Sayid are sitting in the Swan at the breakfast nook across from
Radzinsky, who has taken off his DI suit. Radzinsky, in his British accent, says:

Radzinsky:

You claim you know me, Jin... is it? I'm sorry, but that day we crashed here... I... I was
captured by the Others when I was alone.

Jin:

No, you found me in the water!

Radzinsky:

I'm sorry, lad, but no... no I didn't.

Sayid:

What are you doing down here?

Radzinsky:

After they captured me, they put me down here, to push the button.

Sayid looks over at where the huge machine was, but it is now gone. In it's place is the
computer with the button.

Sayid:

Where did it go?! The machine?!

 Radzinsky:

I'm sorry?

Sayid:

There... there was a huge machine... that automatically pressed the button.

Radzinsky:

They covered that up back in 1979... when there was an incident.

Sayid:

None of this is making any damned sense! I have to put these rocks into that machine or
the Island will continue to jump around in time!

Radzinsky:

I'm sorry mate, but I have no idea what you are talking about...

Sayid looks around. He turns to Jin.

Sayid:

I don't know what to do.

Suddenly, there is a shift in the station. Radzinsky vanishes for a minute. Sayid looks
over and Radzinsky re-appears. He looks at computer. It is now gone and the machine is
back.

Sayid:

Radzinsky gets up and walks over to the machine. He looks ultimately confused at what
is going on.

Sayid:

Time is shifting, Mr. Radzinsky... I need your help to fix it... or else things could go from
bad to worse.

Radzinsky:

I'm sorry... who are you?! And what you are doing in my bloody station?!

Sayid closes his eyes in despair and looks at Jin, who rolls his eyes at the situation. The
camera cuts to:

18) EXT. MAIN BEACH. DAY.

 Kate, Nadia, Walt, Claire, Vincent, Zach, Emma and Aaron are standing on the beach as
they get out of a life-raft with the Elizabeth parked out in the water. Kate turns to Nadia and
says:

Kate:

Where do we go?

Nadia:

Things aren't right here, Kate. Look.

Nadia points in the sky and we see the drug plane coming down from the sky. Kate looks
at it and is very confused.

Nadia:

Sayid hasn't done what is needed to be done in the Swan. It is his job... as a factor. He
must stabilize the Island because Daniel makes his move! I must to go him and help.

Kate grabs Nadia as she runs off.

Kate:

What you said about Juliet... is it true?

Nadia:

Yes, Kate. And... if by chance I do not see you again... you must follow my directions as
they were given to me from Ms. Hawking before she ... and the Island was reset. Find
Richard... he too doesn't know.

Kate:

Why wouldn't you tell him?

Nadia:

Because, Kate... Richard needs to do this on his own.

Nadia starts to walk towards the jungle as Kate turns back to Claire and Aaron.

Claire:

What now?

Kate:

We find Richard... we need to find Richard.

The camera cuts to:

19) EXT. JUNGLE. DAY.

 Richard is running through the jungle. He stops when he hears something. It is Mikhail
coming out of the Arrow Station. He sits there, confused looking, as he watches Mikhail walk
up to Kaname's body and he bends down over it. Richard jumps out of the jungle and
screams:

Richard:

Hey! What do you think you're doing!?

Mikhail spots Richard and he darts off into the jungle. Richard runs over to Kaname's
body and he bends down over it. Richard looks ultimately sad as he looks at Kaname and
takes his hand. Richard looks down and he sees that in Kaname's hand is a film strip. He
picks it up and he looks around as the camera cuts to:

20) EXT. ORCHID STATION. DAY.

Daniel and Charlotte make their way up to the Orchid Station. They reach the top of the
hill and Charlotte moves away some branches and she sees it, she quickly turns around to
Daniel and says:

Charlotte:

What the hell are we doing here?!

Daniel:

I'm so sorry, Charlotte.

Charlotte's eyes well up with tears.

Charlotte:

Daniel, you can not do this to me!

Daniel:

Charlotte... you have to do this. It's the only way.

Charlotte:

The only way for what?!

Daniel:

To set things right. Look.

Daniel hands Charlotte his notebook. She reads what it says. She looks up at him and
shakes her head. She timidly says:

Charlotte:

I told you, I'm not using them again...

Daniel:
 I'll be here with you, Charlotte. I won't leave your side. Charlotte, I love you.

Charlotte:

If you loved me, you wouldn't make me do this.

Daniel:

It's the right thing to do.

Daniel takes off the necklace that Charlotte gave him back when Sanjit took her off to the
Hydra Island after they made love 6.8. He hands it to her. It's the one that her mother left
for her in 5.4.

Daniel:

It's what she would do... what she would want you to do. It's what your father tried to do...
Char, you are the only one left who can do this.

Charlotte takes the necklace in her hands. She starts to cry as she puts it on. She hugs
Daniel and says:

Charlotte:

You're right. I love you.

Charlotte hugs Daniel and lets go of him. She then cold-cocks him in the face! Daniel falls
backwards. Charlotte bends down over him and as she is crying she gives him a kiss on the
forehead. She rushes over to the elevator in the Orchid and she pulls the lever as the doors
open. She steps inside and she closes them and looks out at Daniel who wakes up and rubs
his head. He immediately looks up at her and screams:

Daniel:

Charlotte!!! Charlotte!!!

The elevator doors shut and Charlotte descends on the elevator to the station below. The
sad music plays as Daniel rushes to the elevator and pulls on the gate, but it is too late.
Charlotte is gone. The music builds and the camera cuts to:

21) INT. HAWKING'S APARTMENT. DAY.

Ms. Hawking is in her kitchen. She is holding a kettle as she walks over to Juliet, who has
freshly showered, and is sitting at her kitchen table. The news is on in the background and
we hear the announcer say:

Announcer:

There is still no word on the missing Flight 815 that departed from Sydney, Australia earlier
today. According to the chief maintenance officer, the flight, if still in the air, should be
running out of fuel shortly, if it hasn't already.
 Hawking clicks the television off. She pours Juliet a cup of hot tea. Juliet looks at her and
says:

Juliet:

I know who you... and what... you are.

Ms. Hawking:

And what am I, dear?

Juliet:

The woman who starts up the Dharma Initiative by request of Charles Widmore... it all
starts in a few years when you convince Desmond to follow the wishes of Mr. Widmore after
he loses his memory in a taxi accident outside a pub here in London.

Ms. Hawking spills some of the tea as she looks up at Juliet. She smiles.

Ms. Hawking:

The equations led me to you, you know... a disturbance that Donovan found here in London.
I wasn't expecting you.

Juliet:

What do you mean, you weren't expecting me? I thought you knew everything.

Ms. Hawking:

Tell me, dear, when did you come from?

Juliet:

I... don't know. The last I saw you, you were on the Black Rock.

Ms. Hawking:

Oh dear me! That was quite some time ago. How do you know so much about the future?

Juliet:

I found Richard's journal. The one he left in Isabel's office, "The Lives and Deaths of Richard
Alpert."

Ms. Hawking:

I was unaware he left such a journal.

Juliet:

You honestly didn't know about me?

 Ms. Hawking:

No, dear. Then again, I've done this so many times now that I barely know who I am
anymore.... or what started it all..

Juliet:

The factors, Ms. Hawking. 6 of them. This loop. Any of this ring a bell?!

Ms. Hawking:

Of course it does. I suppose that you maybe on the course to stopping the loop. Am I right?

Juliet:

I... I don't know. I think so.

Ms. Hawking:

How many factors have died?

Juliet:

Two.

Ms. Hawking:

Then the loops must be converging. Once the third factor completes his job the loops will
start to mesh creating a sort of connection between them. You see, dear. This loop... every
time it is re-set I don't remember the loop previous to it... unless of course I leave myself
little clues. I throw the numbers around in a new place right before each loop ends and
Maxwell resets the Island. It appears, however, this time... this time the factors make the
trip back to the restart.

Juliet:

They have! And... what you need to do is stop the rest of this from happening! It will stop
the loop!

Ms. Hawking:

Oh, no dear. I can't do that. I must continue on with my plans for the DI and Desmond.

Juliet just stares at her in disbelief.

Ms. Hawking:

You see, Juliet... things are changing, slowly. If where you came from is behind us in time in
this loop, then the things that occurred at the end of the last loop will not change… Whoever
went back will be there, regardless of what they do. If your friend Sayid is now behind us in
time, he will still end up on that Island when that plane crashes tonight. Until they make all
6 changes and stop that loop, Sayid will still exist on that Island in two places. No matter
how your friends interfere in the past, the loop will find a way to course correct the
 important events until the final factor does his job. The plane will still crash despite what
Sawyer did. Henry Gale will still crash on the Island. Radzinsky will still take his own life and
Desmond will still take his place on that Island to push that button. Everyone who has done
something important in Jacob's fate will live or die as they had in past loops, until the final
factor stops him. Do you understand?

Juliet:

What you're saying is that even though I'm here right now... I will still be taken to the
Island in 2001?

Ms. Hawking:

It is 2004 now, Ms. Burke. You are already on that Island... and here with me drinking this
lovely tea I had made us. Your friends haven't completed their jobs yet.

Juliet:

And Sawyer... he left the Island too! You mean, there are two of him out there now?

Ms. Hawking:

No, dear. I'm sorry, but this time I have word that Sawyer, the one who moved the Island,
was shot dead before his flight.

Juliet's eyes well up with tears. She takes a moment and looks down.

Ms. Hawking:

Don't worry dear, the Sawyer that crashes on the Island tonight is the very same that you
will come to love.

Juliet shoots a look up at her.

Juliet:

You're saying you can't stop what you are doing because if they don't stop this loop... then
this will all happen again?

Ms. Hawking:

I can't change anything, not at least until the factors all do their part. I have to keep doing
what I’m doing or … we could lose everything. If your factors fail this time, then where
would that leave me for the next cycle? I'm sorry, but no matter what happens, I can't
change my course or anything major without repercussions.

Juliet:

But I can.

Ms. Hawking:
 Dear, I don't know what you could possibly do to change anything from happening.

Juliet stands up and she walks to the bathroom. Ms. Hawking looks down and she follows
Juliet. Ms. Hawking opens the door and we see Juliet has taken her towel off and is putting
on her shirt. Ms. Hawking looks down and she sees that Juliet has the mark of the Epsilon
on her back. Ms. Hawking smiles and says to herself:

Ms. Hawking:

You are the fail-safe.

Juliet:

What did you say?

Ms. Hawking:

You are the fail-safe. The one that Richard had branded... the one to help him in the future.

Juliet:

Yeah... what help, I have no clue.

Ms. Hawking:

Ms. Burke. You maybe the key to helping your friends in the past after-all.

Juliet just looks at Ms. Hawking as the camera cuts to:

22) INT. SWAN STATION. DAY.

Sayid and Jin are at the machine as they look it over. Radzinsky comes in and says:

Radzinsky:

What are you doing now?

Sayid:

Tell me, Radzinsky, what are these paintings of?

Radzinsky:

The things that I've come across since being on this hell.

Sayid:

You say you work for the DI, yes?

Radzinsky:

Yes.
 Sayid:

I'm sorry, Mr. Radzinsky, but they have been lying to you all along. You're Dharma Initiative
is nothing more than a hoax. Nothing going on here is even within their grasp.

Radzinsky:

What are you talking about?

Sayid:

The Cerberus Monster... it isn't a mythical creature. It is a DI experiment from your future
that has gone wrong. It travels in the Island's old Volcanic vents.

Radzinsky:

That is not true! The hieroglyphics say it has been here from the dawn of time.

Sayid:

That maybe true, depending on how you look at it, but I assure you... it is from the future.

Radzinsky looks up at his paintings and he seems confused and a bit upset. Sayid
finishes something on the machine and he takes the stones in his hand. He turns to Jin and
Ji-Yeon.

Sayid:

You two must go now.

Jin:

What?

Sayid:

This is a suicide mission, Jin. This is a job that I must do... I am a factor and Nadia said that
I had a job to do... I believe this is it. In fact, Mr. Radzinsky should go with you.

They all walk outside of the station and just then, we hear something running towards
them. They all turn and Richard runs out of the jungle.

Richard:

Thank God! You guys are all right! Where's Daniel and Charlotte?

Sayid:

They ran off... I have no idea.

Richard:

Look, Kaname found this.

 Richard holds his hand out and in it is the roll of film. He hands it to Sayid.

Richard:

I believe this may help us.

Sayid turns.

Sayid:

I'll be sure it gets into the proper hands.

Richard:

What are you doing?

Sayid:

What must be done.

Sayid shakes Richard's hand then Sayid turns to Jin.

Jin:

I won't let you!

Sayid:

Jin, you must. Sun died for this cause and I will not let her death go in vain. Now, please,
don't you let it go in vain either.

With that, Jin shakes Sayid's hand. Jin, Ji-Yeon and Radzinsky walk out of the Swan
Station. Ji Yeon stops and says:

Ji Yeon:

I forgot something important, I will be right back.

Ji Yeon hobbles back into the station. Sayid shakes both Jin and Radzinsky's hands. He
says to Jin:

Sayid:

I'll see you in a different life, perhaps.

Jin:

Yes.

Jin smiles at Sayid. Sayid walks inside and down the hall.

Sayid:

Ji Yeon, you must go now.

 Suddenly, at the door, Ji Yeon closes the hatch and locks it! She looks out the window to
Jin who rushes to the window and screams:

Jin:

What are you doing?!

Ji Yeon:

I love you father, but this is not how it is meant to be.

Sayid:

What are you doing?!

Ji Yeon:

If you stop this loop, Mr. Jarrah, then I should not exist in the future. I should not be here
at all if we save them from that flight.

Sayid:

What are you saying?!

Ji Yeon:

I'm saying that I am going to help you. You need someone to turn the final valve as you put
the stones in the machine to activate it. This is how it must be, Mr. Jarrah. I need to do this.

Sayid looks down. He turns and walks into the station. Ji Yeon puts her hand up against
the window.

Ji Yeon:

I love you, father.

Jin pounds on the window and tries the door, but it is locked. Ji Yeon kisses her hand and
puts it up against the glass and turns away. She walks off with Sayid. The camera cuts to
Jin as he watches her go. Radzinsky looks at him and puts his hand on Jin's shoulder. A
moment goes by and we see a bright flash come from inside of the chamber and the camera
cuts to Sayid as he puts the stones in to the machine and Ji Yeon turns the valve.

Sayid:

I love you, Nadia.

Sayid drops the stones in and FLASH!!! The camera cuts to the outside of the hatch
where Jin is screaming:

Jin:

No!!! No!!!! Ji Yeon!!!!!

 The flash intensifies as the flash sound begins...

23) ---FLASH--- EXT. SWAN STATION. DAY.

Radzinsky is standing there. He looks to his left where Jin just was, but he is gone. He
looks dazed. He walks to the door and he turns it, but it doesn't open. He pounds on it.

Radzinsky:

Damn it! Let me in!!!

Just then, the door turns. Inside is Kelvin! Kelvin just looks at him and he says:

Kelvin:

What the hell?! You're not wearing your bio-hazard suit!

Radzinsky just looks at him. He pushes past him and walks inside as he says:

Radzinsky:

It's a lie. We don't even need them.

Kelvin:

What?!

Radzinsky walks over to his paintings and he throws a bucket of paint on them. Kelvin
runs in and screams:

Kelvin:

What are you doing?!

Radzinsky:

It's all a lie! It's all a sodding lie!!

Kelvin grabs Radzinsky and looks him in the eye.

Kelvin:

What are you talking about?!

Radzinsky:

The Iraqi, Sayid...

The mention of the name Sayid gets Kelvin's attention as he has met him in the Gulf War
as seen in 2.14, "One of Them." Radzinsky walks over to the computer in the domed room.
He looks around.

Radzinsky:
 The machine used to be here... until Sayid fixed it.

Kelvin:

What the hell are you talking about?! Who's Sayid? The guy I mentioned in my old war
stories?!

Radzinsky just looks at him. He walks off. He messes with some wires and he kicks a
smaller machine under the blast door to catch it as he triggers a lockdown. He plays with
some wires and the lockdown happens. He goes outside of the door and gets the detergent
and he starts to write on the door.

Kelvin:

What are you doing?!

Radzinsky:

The Monster... it is no monster... it is a DI experiment! Sayid told me so!

Kelvin:

I think you need to lie down, man.

Radzinsky:

It's all a lie, a bloody lie!

Kelvin looks a bit weirded out and he walks out of the room. The camera cuts to
blackness then opens back up as we hear Radzinsky chanting:

Radzinsky:

It's all a lie... a lie... It's all a lie...

Radzinsky goes into the armory and he picks up a gun. He walks out into the main room
and he grabs something off of the table. He walks over to the couch and he sits down. He
says:

Radzinsky:

I'm sorry, mate, I can't do this anymore...

Radzinsky puts the gun in his mouth and BANG!!!! His body goes limp. In his hand is a
note. It reads "It is all a lie, brother. Find the truth for yourself." The flash sound begins as
the camera shows the blood spatter on the ceiling that Kelvin showed Desmond in 2.23
"Live Together, Die Alone."

24) ---END OF FLASH--- EXT. SWAN STATION. DAY.

The bright light vanishes and Jin looks to where Radzinsky was. He is gone. Jin turns to
the door and he pounds on it as he screams:

Jin:
 Ji Yeon!!! (sobs) Ji Yeon!!!!

The camera cuts to inside of the Swan looking out the window and we see Nadia walk up
behind Jin. He turns and he says something to her, but we can't hear it. We see her
reaction. She closes her eyes and she hugs Jin as soft music plays. The two of them hug
and cry as Jin has just lost the daughter he had come to know and Nadia mourns the love of
her life and the girl that she had raised from infancy. The music draws to silence and the
camera cuts to:

25) INT. FLIGHT 815. DAY.

Nadia and Jin walk into the Swan Station and they walk down the hall. There is no one
there. They turn the corner and that's when they see it. Sayid is on the floor and there is
blood coming out of his nose. He looks very weak. Nadia rushes over to him and she lifts up
his head as Jin tends to Ji Yeon. The camera cuts to Ji Yeon's face and there is no life. Sayid
manages to get out:

Sayid:

She died for the cause, Jin... (cough) you should be very proud.

Jin looks back at Sayid, who is being held by Nadia. Jin turns back to Ji Yeon and he
shuts her eyes. He picks up her body and he carries it out of the Swan Station as Nadia and
Sayid lay there. Sayid says to her:

Sayid:

I love you Nadia.

Nadia:

Sayid, I don't care how many years it has taken you to find me. I always knew you were
with me... we will always be together in our hearts and minds.

Sayid:

Nadia... there is one more thing.

Nadia:

What is it, Sayid?

Sayid looks at Nadia as the flash sound begins...

26) --FLASH-- PLANE WRECKAGE. DAY.

There is a fast paced mini-montage of the events that led up to this day in Sayid's life,
however they go backwards to when the plane crash happened. This is like we saw in
"Flashes Before Your Eyes" with Desmond, but backwards. It stops and the camera is
focused on an eye. It opens and it is Sayid. He looks around and there is silence, but then,
he sits up and looks around. He is laying on the beach next to the mid-section of the crash.
He jumps up and he looks around. He looks across the beach and he sees Boone with Rose
on the sand. He is trying to revive her, but he is failing. He looks over and he sees Shannon
screaming. He jumps up and he rushes past the engine and he sees Gary Troupe standing
there in front of it. He screams to him:

Sayid:

Get away from there, right now!

Gary looks at him, then steps away from the engine. Sayid runs down the beach and he
sees Kate stumble out of the jungle and look at him strangely. He continues, but Boone
stops him.

Boone:

Do you have a pen?!

Sayid:

What?

Boone:

I need a pen! I need a damn pen! Do you have one?!

Sayid:

No, Boone, let Jack take care of this.

Boone looks at Sayid.

Boone:

Who the hell's Jack?! How'd you know my name?!

Sayid just stands there, a bit dazed.

Sayid:

I uh...

Boone just looks at him until he spots a pen in Sayid's shirt pocket. Boone grabs it and
runs back to Rose. Sayid looks around looking for something, but he looks as though he
can't find it. He looks over towards the water and he sees pregnant Claire laying on the
beach. He rushes over to her and he helps her up and takes her to the place in the sand
where Jack took her. Hurley is standing there and Sayid says:

Sayid:

Hurley! Come here!

Hurley looks at him and runs over.

Sayid:
 Stay with her! Don't move!

Sayid rushes over to Kate, who has stepped out into the jungle. He says to her:

Sayid:

Kate, where is Jack?

Kate looks at him strangely. She appears that she has just been crying.

Kate:

Sayid? How'd you know my name?

Sayid looks at her and his eyes widen as she actually knows who he is.

Sayid:

I was just in the Swan. I activated at the machine! I think... I think.... what happened to
Desmond when he turned the key is happening to me.

Kate:

You did what now?!

Sayid:

Kate, listen to me! You need to get to the Swan station. Inside there is a roll of film that
Richard found. You must find it and look at it.

Just then, one of the engines explode!! BOOM!! Sayid turns and he sees the wing start to
fall over Claire and Hurley. He runs back to the wing frantically, as we saw Jack do in the
"Pilot" episode. Kate watches as Sayid rushes to the two of them screaming:

Sayid:

Get out of there! Go!

Hurley and Claire look up. The wing is falling on them! Sayid makes it to them in time
and helps get Claire up as Hurley and Claire run towards safety. Sayid trips and falls and he
turns back as the wing falls down on top of him!!! Cut to the POV of Sayid as the wing
comes rushing down and the flash sound begins as it hits him... there is another fast paced
montage of Sayid's life events, but this time in order until he snaps out of it:

27) INT. SWAN. DAY.

Sayid looks at Nadia as he says:

Sayid:

Promise me, that you will move forward after we stop all of this.

Nadia:
 I...

Sayid:

I've spent my whole life looking for you... (cough)... and I'm glad I found you before it was
too late.

Sayid coughs some more. Nadia hugs him close as Sayid takes his last breath of air. She
sobs as the camera cuts to:

28) INT. ORCHID STATION. DAY.

Charlotte runs out of the elevator and over to the machines. She has Daniel's notebook
as she starts to set the device. She looks into the room where she watched her mother
move Richard back in 5.12. She thinks for a moment then she looks back down at the
notebook. She sets the machines and she rushes into the room where her mother was and
she puts the device on her head. She runs back out and looks very unsure of what she is
doing. Just then, we hear the elevator go back up the shaft. Charlotte sits down and she
thinks. She bends down and she sees the file photo of her mother, Annie. Charlotte looks at
it and she smiles and starts to cry. The camera cuts to:

29) EXT. BAR. NIGHT.

Juliet walks down the street and looks up at an awning to a bar. The name of the bar is
"Fate's Fool." She smiles to herself and she looks down at the chalkboard outside and it
says, "Playing tonight only: Liam Pace from Driveshaft." Juliet smiles again and says to
herself:

Juliet:

I'm fate's fool, all right.

She walks into the bar and looks around. Standing on the stage is Liam at the
microphone. Juliet makes her way through the crowd in the background as we see Liam
standing up front.

Liam:

As you all know, my brother's plane went missing this morning over the waters of the
Pacific. I just saw Charlie a few days ago in Australia. He came to my house and asked me
to start the band up with him again... I basically told him to piss off. After a night of restless
sleep, I asked him to stay in Sydney for another night...

Juliet takes a seat towards the back of the bar. Liam continues:

Liam:

... he said he was flying out that day so I caught a plane to meet him here in London. To my
dismay, I guess he changed his mind and stayed... he wound up on flight 815. We've had
our shortcomings, the Pace boys... but Charlie was always the rock in the relationship. He
had some turbulent times this past year... (he looks down) ... most of them revolving
around me...
 Liam continues, but his voice is muffled from the crowd in front of Juliet. Just then, a
woman bumps into Juliet and she walks over to the table next to her. Juliet looks up and
she sees who it is. It is Naomi Dorrit!!! She is on a cell phone as she says:

Naomi:

Yes, I got his stuff from his lab. When are you gonna to tell me what this is all for, Mr.
Abaddon? Well, you can tell Mr. Widmore that I'd like to meet with him myself.

Juliet's eyes light up. She looks at the bags that Naomi has and sure enough, Daniel's
notebook is sticking out. Naomi says:

Naomi:

Yes, I'll have it to you first thing in the morning.

Naomi hangs up. She looks at Juliet and smiles. Juliet smiles back awkwardly. Naomi
looks at her and says:

Naomi:

Would you mind watching this stuff while I use the ...

Juliet doesn't even let her finish.

Juliet:

Sure!

Naomi nods and says:

Naomi:

All right then, thank you.

She walks off. Juliet eyes up the notebook and then Liam continues:

Liam:

in the eyes and she nods and they kiss.

(1:15) Cut to Charlotte sitting in the chair connected to Machines as Daniel looks at her and
turns a switch.

(2:27) The light in the Orchid vanishes. Daniel looks up and Charlotte looks lifeless inside
the room. In slow motion he drops his notebook and we see it is a note from Juliet that
reads, "Charlotte must move the Island to September 22nd, 2004.-Juliet"

(2:34) Daniel rushes into the room and he unhooks Charlotte. He holds her in his arms as
she smiles faintly. He holds her close.

(2:57) Nadia lies with Sayid as the light vanishes, she appears to be dead and there is a

(3:09) The camera cuts to the Other's village as the light vanishes. The camera is focused
on Ben as they all look up into the sky.

(3:21) Cut to Desmond running through the jungle to the Swan Station after had just killed
Kelvin.

And the sign flashed out its warning,

In the words that it was forming.

(3:32) Daniel closing Charlotte's eyes. She has died from moving the Island, just like her
mother.
