Green Dream is a new initiative by IEEE.

Its beginning was on the day before of the engineering semester exam, a dream, dreamt by IEEE members which on later period became the dream for all IEEE members associated in India. They all dreamed to create a trend, a lifestyle and love for a greener planet among our youth. They combined their hands with IYCN (Indian Youth Climate Network) and planned to inaugurate the GREEN DREAM. Their aim was to spread the awareness about climate change and global warming in todays generation and thus encouraging them to join our hands to make this dream come true. IEEE conducted a continuous seven day events in major cities in KERALA (Thiruvanthapuram, Kollam, Amrithapuri, Palai, Thrissur, Muvattapuzha and a grand finale in Ernakulam).It was for First time in INDIA where seven colleges combined together organized such a big event in their respective cities. THANGAL KUNJU MUSALIAR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY conducted this event on March 17, 2009. They invited students from both schools and colleges in Kollam district. Auditorium was decorated by both members and non-members of IEEE with greenery in mind. The art works contributed by invited school children were displayed on the walls of the auditorium. The hard works of those involved, their perfection for every minute detail, showed their true passion for the cause and the success of the event. Caroline Howe & Ruchi ( ) from IYCN, S.Sun from ( ), Arun Raj and Varun Raj from (MBT), Dr. M.C.Philipose, the principal of TKMIT were the incvited chief guests. Caroline Howe complimented for the art works and the decoration of the auditorium. Mr.S.Sun in his speech said that todays youth can bring about change in both environment and technology. But it is also their duty to balance them equally. His words THINK GLOBALLY AND DO LOCALLY inspired the audience. He also donated a sapple to plant in college campus. Video presentation made by Caroline Howe on climate change and global warming made an effect on audience. Her positive energy, her radiance and the passion she showed to her work was inspiring. Short movie presented by Varun Raj(?) made deep impression on audience and forced them to think again that how much they are contributing for the destruction the environment. It made them wonder for the survival of the future generation. They showed many eco-friendly gadgets for regular use. On the conclusion of the event, Ca;roline Howe, Ruchi ( ), Varun Raj and Arun Raj taught those present their promotional dance for the GREEN DREAM. In the end, all of them together planted the donated sapple which was named Baby Ayoob after the region co-ordinator of Green Dream of Kollam.
