OBJECTIVE To design and build a prototype of a computer controlled sheet plastic (Styrofoam) Hot Wire Cutting Machine by 31st December 2012 with the cost under RM1000.

AGENDA Discussed about the descriptions of the Sheet Plastic (Styrofoam) Hot Wire Cutting Machine project. The details regarding the descriptions are shown as below:

-Project Descriptions (STEPS)

1. Brainstorm about the topics of the project to be worked on. 2. Search for the related information of each brainstormed ideas via internet. 3. Shortlist the ideas and the final topics selected Sheet Plastic (Styrofoam) Hot Wire Cutting Machine. 4. Briefly discuss on the design as well as the specifications of the selected machine. 5. Draft the manufacturing process of the machine by using flow chart and block diagram. 6. Discuss about the interfacing between hardware and software of the machine. 7. Draft pseudocode for the programming coding to test for its functionality. 8. Fabricate the machine setup at the same time develop the coding for graphical user interface (GUI) purpose. 9. Perform engineering run on the machine in order to ensure adequate process flow. 10. Present the completed project to customer/ lecturer and prepare for Q&A sessions. 11. Complete all relevant documentations regarding the project. 12. Submission of report as well as the project information (if necessary) to lecturer.

Brainstormed about the schematic drawing with the rough design of the project. An attachment of the design is being attached at the end of this MOM.

DECISIONS MADE
The programming language has been decided as C and Matlab. Visual Basic will be used as the GUI interface for the project. The types of motor that is going to be used in the project will be DC motor.
