Follow these steps to complete the network setup before returning to the software installation: 1. Before continuing with the network setup, print a self-test from the HP Jetdirect print server by pressing the TEST button on the back of the print server. The self-test will contain information that may be required to correctly finish the network connection setup and will verify that the HP all-in-one and the HP Jetdirect print server are connected correctly. 2. A Network Connection Installation Welcome screen will have appeared. Click Next to continue the network setup. 3. The Network Search Type screen will appear. l The preferred method is to search the network. Select the first option to search for the all-in-one on the network and then click Next. l If the network connections are to be specified, select the Specify your device by address option, and then click Next. This option should be used only if you have a thorough understanding of networks and your network configuration. 4. Do one of the following based on the method selected in Step 3: l If the network was searched for available HP Officejet products, a list of all compatible HP Officejet products found on the network will be displayed. Click the all-in-one in the list and then click Next to continue. If more than one HP allin-one is found, use the IP address information from the HP Jetdirect print server test-page to select the correct all-in-one from the list. l If the network search fails to find the all-in-one on the network, click the Back button to return to the Network Search Type screen, and then select Specify your device by address. Click Next to continue. The Specify Network Device screen will appear. Using the information on the HP Jetdirect self-test page, enter either the IP address or Host name of the HP Jetdirect print server, and then click Next. l If the Specify your device by address option was selected in Step 3, the Specify Network Device screen will appear. Use the information on the HP Jetdirect selftest page, or enter the desired IP address or Host name for the HP Jetdirect print server, and then click Next. l If neither of the above methods is able to locate the HP all-in-one, read the HP document Troubleshooting a Print Server on a Network Connection (BPU03062) to learn how to troubleshoot the problem. 5. The Network configuration option screen will appear. Select one of the following options and then click Next: l HP recommends selecting Do the network settings for me. This option will use the current network settings of the HP Jetdirect print server. l Use the Let me do my own settings option if the network settings are to be changed. Only advanced users who have a thorough understanding of their network configuration should use this option. This can be used to set a static IP address for the print server on a network configured by DHCP. If this option is selected, the next screen will allow users to set the IP address, Subnet mask, and Gateway network settings. 6. Return to the installation steps above and complete the remaining steps from Step 5, the destination folder screen .
Novell clients
It may be possible to have full or partial functionality on a computer running Novell Client. HP does not support the HP Officejet G series all-in-one on client-server network architecture. software should be loaded. The HP Jetdirect Read Me (ReadMe.HTML) file contains some information about the limitations in using NetWare with an HP Jetdirect print server. This file can be found on the HP Officejet G series CD-ROM by browsing to the OJG/Net folder. Visit the Novell Web site for client updates and information, or click here to visit the HP Network Printer Installation Wizard Web page to search for NetWare issues and solutions. Citrix networks
While connection to a Citrix based network may be possible, HP does not support connection through a Citrix network. HP supports the all-in-one in no other networking configuration than the peer-to-peer networking configuration.
