We also need to respond to Johns call for repentance. Jesus' Baptism- Matthew 3:13-17 - October 24 Even though Jesus was without sin, he was baptized to identify with sinners. The three persons of the Trinity were present at Jesus baptism. Jesus' Temptation- Matthew 4:1-11 - October 25 Jesus defeated Satan by using the Word of God. Satan makes his temptations very appealing, but we must remain faithful to God. Jesus Calls His Disciples-Matthew 4:12-22; Mark 1:14-20; Luke 5:1-11 - October 26 Jesus called his disciples to follow him and to fish for people. We too are called to follow Jesus. Sermon on the Mount - Loving Enemies-Matthew 5:17-26,38-48 - October 28 Jesus taught the people that the Law of the kingdom is the law of love Sermon on the Mount - Acts of Righteousness-Matthew 6:1-24 - October 30 Our prayer, praise, and acts of love should spring from love for God, not from desire for other people's approval Sermon on the Mount - Do Not Worry-Matthew 6:25-34; 7:7-11 - November 6 God, who created all things, cares for his creation We don't have to worry, because God cares for all our needs Jesus Sends Out the Disciples - Matthew 9:35-10:42 - November 7 Jesus sent his disciples to the Jewish people to tell them to repent We are responsible for telling others about Jesus and helping them

Assessment - in class on November 8 and 9 ! Students will work in groups to create a book or pictures to retell one of the
stories from the unit. They will be graded on collaboration, content and presentation.
