HOW TO PREVENT CAR THEFT

Statistics have shown that theft vehicles in Malaysia from 1980 to 2005 is increasing every year, but it began to decline from 2005 to 2010. This may be due to the awareness of people about the importance of the safety of their vehicles as well as law enforcement authorities. A few steps can be taken to prevent this crime from happening is such as not leaving any valuables in the car. Many of us are careless or negligent and often leave valuable items in the car, for instance, a laptop. The thieves are fast thinker, they can manage to burst the cars easily. The thieves are also intelligents, they can still find your laptops in hidden places in your car because they have tools to detect your laptops because laptops produced a kind of frequency. Eventhough you have pulled your laptops battery, the battery on the motherboard to switch the memory and clock on your laptop is still available to be detected. The battery charges can produce a frequency that could easily be detected by the thieves. This also applied to other electronic devices like digital cameras and so on. So,the safer way is that you should never leave valuable items in your car. Some of us believe that by locking the steering lock on the steering wheel is the best way to prevent the thieves from stealing our cars. As mentioned before, the thieves are intelligent, so it is easier for them to cut the steering lock and drive away your cars. The best way here is to lock the clutch pedal or gear stick lock to lock our cars. Many thieves will target only the steering wheel as this is among the most porous parts. To overcome this problem, we can provide a switch to turn on and off the engine starter. This switch must be hidden and known only by the owner and those who borrow the car. We can start the engine if the switch is on and it will not active if the switch is off. This switch system is for a lower budget. Therefore, for those who have more budgets, they can install an immobilizer system which is a system that only the owner of car is the key. Sometimes, some of us are show off person, they will tell others that they are using the most secure alarm system, the most expensive alarm system, and so forth. We must know that, each current systems have their own drawbacks. We should keep a secret, so that thieves will not know how to bypass the alarm system quickly. Location also plays an important role in the case of car theft. If you have a garage, always put your car in it when you are at home. Make sure to lock the car although it is in the garage. If we park the vehicles by the road, do parking in the bright area and can be seen by the public easily. Try to park in the light or near security cameras or parking attendants when parking in the public lots. These will reduce the interest of car thef.
