WORLD SERIES OFFICE NUMBER (602) 438-0242

MSBL / MABL World Series Spotlight On Jay Ciambrone (55+ So Cal Fire) In 1968, Jay Ciambrone was playing ball. Living in Detroit, he also was an avid Tigers fan, especially Al Kaline and a middle infielder who, like him, hit left handed. Dick McAuliffe was a scrappy player who hit for modest average but had an uncanny knack of getting on base, one way or another. It was McAuliffe who took exception to Tommy John throwing at his head twice and charged the mound, injuring Johns shoulder with his knee. We all know what happened to that famous shoulder. Ciambrone moved to Southern California and twenty years later got to play hardball again. Since 1988, he has been a part of MSBL and has shared his love of the game with his wife of 42 years, his children (ages 23 and 27), and a 2 year old grandchild. Dont expect Jay to slow down his baseball playing. Along with winning Las Vegas in 2011, he has been on championship teams in 1995 (Cal Cup) and World Series in 05, 09, and 2010. Jays favorite moment could be predicted: sharing with family and many friends the 13th inning win in their first World Series Championship in 2005. With the class of Kaline and the determination of McAuliffe, Jay Ciambrone is the prototype MSBL player. Dedicated, dependable, and a team guy.

MSBL / MABL WS Spotlight On: Chuck Scheidt (Chicago Fire) Chuck Scheidt sees the big picture. As a player and manager, he understands how important relationships are, and how men with busy lives learn to integrate the sports and hobbies they love with family responsibility. He and his very supportive wife, Trina, have three children. They have raised them well, as Samantha and John have both graduated from the University of Texas. Their youngest son, Steve, plays hockey in the Western States Junior Hockey League with the Southern Oregon Spartans. His men's team has traveled to Cooperstown to play on the original Doubleday Field. For a lifelong baseball fan thats like going to the holy shrine. They also have played various charity games, like the ALS fund raiser. Giving to others seems like the natural thing to do when you are blessed with a good life. Bart Zeller was Chucks first coach in the Chicago North League, and Chuck remembers many life lessons from the former pro catcher. Like taking pride in every time you step on the field, and being sure to give your very best. In 21 years, he has been fortunate to share in several championships in the Windy City and St. Louis, and once took home a ring from the World Series. Winning is a good thing to Chuck, as it is to most players. But the big picture is the blending of a good healthy life, family, dear friends, and sharing in a game we all love. Former Cub Billy Williams is a MLB player whom Chuck has always admired, and anyone who visits the confines of Wrigley Field knows they have a good chance of spotting the former all-star somewhere in the park, making new friends, representing his club in a positive way, and being an ambassador of living a good life. After all, isnt that what the big picture is all about?

MSBL / MABL WS Spotlight On: Rick Cantor (REBL Rebels) Baseball really is a family affair. A 17 year veteran who began his MSBL experience in the Bay Area League in 1995, Rick Cantor is now a player, manager, and league president of the Redwood Empire Baseball League in Santa Rosa, California. He has been to Arizona 11 times, and Las Vegas 5 times, where his team won the 45+ Open in 2010. Wife Kimberly and mother Gail enjoy Rick and his fatherin-law David Charp, playing on the same Father & Son team. David also plays in the 55+ Division at home. Rick likes to model his play after some all time greats, although he doesnt regard any of them as heroes, just admires the way they have developed their baseball talents. One of the most skilled player he ever saw play was Barry Bonds, and Rick admired his speed, power, patience and discipline. With their only child, Zeejay (5 years old), the Cantors are not likely to have another MSBL family member join ranks very soon. The family connection did provide a most memorable moment, however, when a few years ago at Hohokam Stadium, Kimberly was invited to the public address booth to introduce players. Rick was leading off that inning, and right after she flirtatiously announced his name, he hit the first pitch over the right field wall for a home run. As he crossed the plate, Kimberly spoke into the mike Way to go, Rick! He says he never was so happy and embarrassed at once!

MSBL / MABL WS Spotlight On: Darren Brucken (Terre Haute Cubs) Successful physician. Married to former NFL cheerleader for the Indianapolis Colts, now a Certified Personal Trainer, and a beautiful person, inside and out. Lives in Terra Haute, Indiana, the heartland of America. Seems like life has been very good to Darren Brucken. Ask him about baseball, though, and hell quickly give you an insight into his character. Hasnt missed a baseball season in his life since the age of five. Plays all out, Pete Rose style. Hustles on routine ground ball outs; will gladly run into a wall to make a play. Plays in 38+ local league, but also challenges himself with play in 18+ MABL. A lifelong Cubs fan, Darren only knows one style of play.giving it your all, win or lose. He served his league as Vice President from 1997-2004, and has been President from 2005 to present. Though he has enjoyed regional tournaments several times in Las Vegas, St. Louis, and Chicago, he has been to every MSBL World Series since 1997. His wife of 12 years, Holly supports his love for baseball, and shared in the most special moment of his tenure with MSBL: In 2002 at Tempe Diablo Stadium, Darrens Father & Son team won the World Series. He recalls celebrating in the rain as the stadium sound system played Toby Keiths Whos Your Daddy and they danced on the mound. Of course, being from Indiana, Darren and his team sang along as Hoosier Daddy.
