Mobile Phones

Mobile phones have become an indispensable part of our daily lives. Mobile phones play an important role in our daily lives. But why are they so popular? Almost everyone owns a mobile phone nowadays as they think that it is an essential tool. People without a mobile phone are thought of as eccentric. There must be reasons why we have become so dependent on mobile phones. Firstly, they are portable. Therefore, it is convenient for us to carry mobile phones and keep in contact with others at any time. We use them very often. For example, when we are outdoors, where there are no telephones, we can use our handy mobile phone. Secondly, mobile phones enable us to call for help during times of emergency. For instance, if you are involved in an accident or if you witness a crime taking place, you can call the police immediately using your mobile phone. There have been some cases in which the police made use of the victims' cell phones' networks to locate the kidnappers. Some people feel uncomfortable or handicapped without their mobiles as they have become a necessity in our daily lives. This is mainly due to the convenience of mobiles and their varied functions such as MP3 players, radios and games. Mobiles are not only a great time-saving device, but they are a source of entertainment too. On the other hand, there are disadvantages of using mobile phones, too. Although mobile phones are convenient, they can be lost easily since they are quite small. Talking on mobile phones can also be expensive because we need to pay high roaming costs when we are overseas. In addition, mobiles are believed by some people to give out radioactive waves and some scientists believe that this radioactivity can cause brain tumors or damage our ears. There is still no solid evidence to prove that mobile phones are safe to use. Another problem is that people can easily become addicted to mobile phones since they are now multi-purposed with different functions. The convenience of mobile phones can also cause a lot of problems such as cheating in tests as it is now easy for students to access the Internet at any time. People start to abuse mobile phones. This may affect the students at school as they may play games and send messages during lessons. Also, there are some places where there is no signal for the mobile phones so you can only make emergency calls, which is sometimes very inconvenient. In conclusion, I think that mobile phones are indispensable tools that we cannot live without, but we should avoid abusing them. Therefore, we should think carefully about the advantages and drawbacks before purchasing a mobile phone, and ask ourselves why we need a mobile phone and whether we will be able to use it responsibly.

The influence of modern technology in terms of computers, internet and mobile phones on teenagers and young people communications and lives
1. Introduction
While technology is often described as the most important influence upon society, it remains a subject which has undergone little study. This situation is gradually changing, however, with politicians, sociologists, industrialists and educationalists alike recognising that technology lies at the very heart of society. (D. Chandler, 1996) The view that the communication technologies we use have effects on how and what we communicate, when we communicate, the frequency of our communication and so on, rather than serving simply as a new medium for us to communicate pretty much the same old content in pretty much the same old style is often referred to as technological determinism (M. Underwood, 2009) Social progress rapidly came to be equated with technical progress, often expressed as the conquest of mind over matter or as the head saving the hands. Critics such as Henry Thoreau (d. 1862) noted that improvements in our technical means are no guarantee of improved ends, and may lead to a mechanistic and fatalistic outlook. He declared in his book, Walden, that 'we do not ride upon the railroad; it rides upon us.' (Cited in D. Chandler, 2000) Technology advancement is one of the most essential factors for teenagers in the western societies. However, under circumstances not all will be directly involve or share the knowledge of these latest inventions of technology. Due to the enormous development of technologies, this era can also be called the Age of Technology. With the purpose of surviving in the social, education and employment world, technology is becoming the most essential tools. (http://www.customessaymeister.com/customessays/Technology/6843.htm) Is it possible to understand teenagers' world without internet, mobile phone (especially text messages) and the rest of modern technology? Teenagers and youth nowadays have a life there modern technology dominates their communications. Teenagers and young generation of these days wants to help change the world and make it a better and more comfortable place to live. They want to be contributors to the peace, economic reforms, the improvement of public services and many other aspects of the society. For them the best way to contribute to these changes is through the modern technology. (S. Kumar, S. Raghav, 2007)

Does it mean youth want to make a huge change on the view of the world there they grew up? Or they just want to split away from the boring norms of the society? Does modern technology have made teen lives easier, safer and even more colourful? Or modern technology has made their lives more difficult and more dangerous? The question about the influence of everyday increasing teen and young people number, who are spending extreme amount of time using modern technology; internet, computer and mobile phones, becomes more and more significant. The new and modern technology is excellent in some ways. Unfortunately is very hard to see the some weaknesses of its impact on teens. From daily live communications to the chats on internet, phones and SMS texts -teenagers and youth of today have been surrounded by modern technology.

2. Advantages and disadvantages of modern technology progress: internet, mobile

The question which appear then talking about technology influence, is asking ourselves is technology in injury our society? As it is an outstandingly complicated question of variety, and the answer to it could be given in the straightforward way. According to D. Chandler ( 2000) extensive social 'effects', both optimistic and pessimistic, have been claimed for many communications technologies before our current computer-based 'information technology'. The so-called 'I.T. revolution' (which tends to be presented as the 'final' communications revolution) can be seen as having been preceded by the 'writing revolution' and 'the print revolution', and as only the latest phase of an 'electronics revolution' which began with telegraphy and telephony. And all of these technologies can be seen as information technologies. Close to D. Chandler (2000), B. Winston (1998) criticizes the technological determinism in his paper "How are Media Born and Developed" and develops his theory of cultural determinism. This paper focuses on discussing Brian Winston's cultural determinism, analyzing its advantages and disadvantages. He believes that technological determinism is a useful theory and technology is a dominant force shapes and changes society. The 21st century has made many changes in the way we work as well as it has changed our private lives. The world in which we are living has changed a lot comparing to the world there our great grandparents were living. All the work, studies and the rest of the stuff that we were doing ourselves have now becomes a very different. The systems and machines like computers, mobile phones and all operating systems, which just involve one, click on the computer or machine to do the things, which we used to for hours or even days.

The use of today's technology is very important. Almost every home has a computer and telephone as well as nearly every single person in the house has a mobile phone. For some people technology is the only technique for them to depend on for patience. Internet, mobile phones play a huge role in every person's life especially for youth. Technology has always been there, in our lives. And it's argued that technology has helped us in many cases. Then we look at the advantages of modern technology one of the most important things comes is globalization, which made the world to be closer in many cases like it did allow the world's economy to become a single interdependent system. This means that we can not only share information quickly and efficiently, but we can also bring down barriers of linguistic and geographic boundaries. technology.(http://www.peerpapers.com/essays/AdvatagesDisadvantages-Technology/97169.html?topic) Internet, which is a big part of our lives, could be called as the main thing in all the technology changes. That maintain isn't meant to steal any thunder from other advances, but the Internet has changed not only how we communicate but also when, where, and how often. R. Zhong (2007) in his article points out that in the days of today's stock markets, financial infrastructure, global news organizations, powerful militarizes, strong governments and big corporations, instantaneous communication is an asset we cannot afford to lose. The Internet allows for our society in modern day times to interconnect and promote globalization and information sharing. Another advantage of using internet is that communication is made very easy, no matter there you are. As an another example could be given is the time then lots of young people going to study abroad, so they would like to communicate with friend which stayed in their home countries, much cheaper is to communicate through the internet, rather than call or fly to see them often. However, modern technology doesn't bring only good things but some bad ones as well. Likeness of lifestyle becomes to the mind of all people. Before people had different cultures and traditions like the way wearing the clothes or building. But people, now tend to build the same models of house and wear the same fashion of clothes. 3. The vision of teenagers and youth life in this day and age
Today's youth are one of the most enigmatic figures in history. Lately with all these growth of technologies as internet, computers, teens are getting more dislocated from society with every single overtaking improve. Stimulating them isn't a matter of making a great speech or a dominant lesson anymore. We have to be brought down to teenager's level of understanding. (J. Ross, 2003)

The need and wishes, of nowadays youth are very different from what their parents want. The most inspiring tool for teens and their lifestyle is internet and computers. The world has moved down so much into teens living with technology that it wouldn't be impossible to take away these things from young people and teenagers Teenagers and young people nowadays are more likely to go ahead to the modern lifestyle then teenagers in the past. Comparing to the past teenagers activities, nowadays youth likes more staying at home and playing computer games, chat on the internet, upload their pictures on such as social websites, as "facebook", "my space", ect. Teenagers and young people also have changed in comparison with the teens in the past, taking into account eating habits, and an active way of life, spending free time and clothes. But the most important thing is that they are a "technology" generation. For teens in today's' world mobile phones, internet, music, movies, television and video games are very important. Most teenagers prefer watching TV and playing computer games to reading books. They don't like reading because watching TV is easier and they don't have to use their own imagination. Computer games teach but they are also harmful to health. Teenagers prefer to spend free time in front of a computer rather than to walk, play football, go to a swimming pool, or just simply meet the friend in the park and have a chat. ( P. Drzewicka, A.Wojciechowska, 2008)

4. The impact of modern technology( computers, mobile phones and internet)on teens and young people lives and life style
According to K. Croxton (2000) the internet expands and reaches more people. As a society we may find improvements regarding literacy due to the growth of the internet. With the power of this medium we find that it has an impact on many issues like no other medium which has existed before. As this medium grows we may find that social pressures concerning the internet may force people (especially young generation) to survive by the new medium whether they like it or not.

Influence of internet

It is getting more and more difficult to do whatever thing to not to force people use internet. Young generation cannot imagine their days, homework's without the support of the one of most important modern technology aspects-internet, that is why teenagers and young people are the most important features, then arguing the influence of internet technology nowadays. According to M. S. Eastin (2005) in order to incorporate social influence models teenage rs internet users were sampled. Teenagers represent age group more likely than other. ( eg. Adults) to have their media exposure influenced by social outlets like parents and peers making them logic group to study. Teenager's social life becomes social networking, especially all the life chats, social network. They would rather say that this is the easiest way to communicate with each other, as well as

learning new things and having fun. Many things could be done through the Internet. Young people can download music and other files and play on-line games with their real or virtual friends. According to C. Jhonson (2007) the internet influences teen view to the world and its future. The internet is very useful and important tool for youth studies, as there they are able to see the latest report, articles, find and practise with exercises, which are relevant to their studies, as well as submit assignments and other works. It also gives them an opportunity to act together with other teen and discuss relevant issues. One of the most important things of teens using internet is their freedom to post all critics for the government leaders. As it known that youth can't do much for criticising the government and give their beliefs about what is wrong and what is right on their point of view, no they have all the possible liberty to do it through the internet. Teenager and youth like to spend their free time on very popular these days' social internet web sites. On the social websites youth can have relations and communication with their friends or just someone who is far away from their homes and around the world, using chatting on the worldwide web, emailing or just playing games. Very popular and useful thing these days is a commencement of digital camera for computer mobile phones, where one can chat and on the mean time see the person whom they are having a conversation with. Also using the internet youth can go for shopping with their friends, using the same website, even microphones or cameras to film themselves, teens who are using online shopping can have a speak, nearly in the same way as they would go out together for real shopping. Another aspect is teenagers are normally stepping on the period where they want to belong to one of the internet groups, associations or circle of friends; they are aware of informing about the subject of the conversation. Furthermore, there are also the features of conferencing new people/friends, which is one of the most important topics preferred by teenagers nowadays. Only one click of the mouse on the internet, chat rooms etc. Youth is available to meet and have the conversation with all variety of people with the same or different curiosity, hobbies, gender and other. However according to J. Elliot (2007) Cyber bullying is the new tyrant on the block. Cyber bullying targets sexuality, physical attractiveness and friendships of our children and teenagers. Victims do not know what to do or where to turn. Cyber bullies harass victims anonymously. The psychological damage is horrific. The victim's own peers have turned traitorous and there is nowhere for them to go. Teenage suicides have been linked to cyber bullying as well. G. Elliot (2007) also gives an example of Facebook and MySpace, which is following it with the commencement of protections against cyber bullying. These safeguards against cyber bullying are steps in the right direction. But of course the real preservation begins at home. Another negative side of using internet - the realistic benefits of technology are indisputable, especially when talking about young and not yet to expand socially people. The individual costs can be negatively high: youth learn to communicate mostly through text messages or online, so they don't learn important thing such as accepting nonverbal signals from any of the humanistic contacts, which could be able to give fundamental evidence to what your chat partners are

sensitivity and thinking about person or the opinion about the conversation topic, and without these characteristics it's easy to be misunderstood. The example which could be very suitable for this case is online dating. How actually the first meeting with the person suppose to look like? People and especially youth are normally aware of the power the person exuded, and they aren't confident to remain in someone's attendance by what they are saying or not saying, the gesticulations and voice tones. Then a new person in the life is met, as a rule it is tried to get closer and to stench this person by hug or even better-dance. As the rule is said that: if someone does not contact his/ her eyes with other persons' eyes - won't go back for another meet. This is why this example was given to understand that anyone wouldn't ever get these feeling buy meeting a person on line-it strain a completely different set of nature. Youth can start feeling not recognized, reviled or teht nobody wants them, when for example the text message or email is nor recieved, or simply there are no replies from those to who text or email was send. As Sj. Heckmann(2007) says:" Technology is one of the main cause of wasted time and mind power that could have been spent reading books, playing outside, and exploring the world with your physical body and getting off the couch at home. The world for a young person to thrive in is getting harder and harder as the years go on"

Influence of mobile phones

Young people have created and developed a communication culture that incorporates many special features, such as a rise in the use of text-based communication channels. Teenagers' intersecting and selective use of communication channels has generated multimedia communication. From the theoretical standpoint provided by symbolic interactions, we can ask whether communication through new media technologies generates new forms of social interaction. If this is the case, how could we describe and analyse these new forms of interaction? The media landscapes created by teenagers serve to articulate their personal space, as well as enabling their presentation of self and defining their relationships to others.( V.Oksman & J.Turtiainen, 2004) As A.Wilska ( 2004) whites about the data trunk from a survey of Finnish young people and teenagers in age 16-20. The results indicate that young people's relationship to the mobile phone is consistent with their general consumption styles. An "addictive" use of the phone was related to "trendy" and "impulsive" consumption styles and prevalent among females. Technology enthusiasm and trend-consciousness was linked to impulsive consumption and "hard" values and prevalent among males. A frugal mobile phone use was not related to gender but to environmentalism and thrifty consumption in general. The traditional gender division in mobile phone use styles that could be observed is interesting in the light of conjectures that genders are becoming more alike in their use of new technology. Technology enthusiasm, usually regarded as a "typically male" thing, was also linked to "female" consumption styles. This may reflect young men's changing relationship to consumption.

5. Conclusion
Technology is one of a number of mediating factors in human behaviour and social change, which both acts on and is acted on by other phenomena. Being critical of technological determinism is not to discount the importance of the fact that the technical features of different communication technologies facilitate different kinds of use, though the potential applications of technologies are not necessarily realized. (D. Chandler, 2000) Enthusiasm for technological 'progress' typically involves technological determinism. 'Among the proponents of the primacy of technological change there is evident an unmistakable tone of moral disapproval directed against cultural interval - that is, resistances to structural and normative adaptations occasioned by innovation' (W E Moore, in Potter & Sarre 1974, p. 485). In the mean time as teenagers and youth growing up and changing, the technological revolutionize will have an advantage to help their lives to be easier, in ways such as: social, education, ect. . The modern technology such computer or mobile phone, will help a lot with the communications everyone who is surrounding nowadays teenager and youth. Consequently, the information about newest technology which young people has these days will help them in the close future in many cases of life. At the end of the day and at this age, many of youth are not openly concerned with a jobs, in which the acquaintance of new and modern technology is very necessarily. Nevertheless, youth have to prepare themselves for their own decision of occupation in the future, and in this case to know the important of using modern technology, its communications nad have some skills is very essential for their future. As much as it could sound excellent, technological determinists aren't always so optimistic. Generally is agreed that new and modern technology is likely bring in new problems and issues. As D. Chandler (2000, p.2) says: "Pessimistic determinism is often little short of a fatalism which tells us that there is no escape. And it is commonly associated with a general antimodernism.. Romancing the future or the past involves denying present realities." Teenagers and young people who could be called as "a cream of the society", who are the biggest influenced part of technology and cannot be must not be left to move on the pathway of destruction. Every single parent, school, and other social institutions must have a strong duty in taking care of teenagers developing process. They all want older generation to advise them and as well as to provide them with activities, which could possible change computing games. The biggest matter is that teenagers and young people nowadays, the youth who is so lost, unhappy or just sad or a group little moral values. It is believed that the main issue is technology. These days teenager is not attending church an unfortunately parents don't spend enough time with their children, as they use to do many years ago.
