1000piecesofartworkbehind.Hewasacompletelyuntrainedartistwhohadaunique
styleofusingboldcolorsandsophisticatedchild-likefiguresinthemajorityofhislater
worksafterhisteenagegraffitiyears.Hewasgreatlyinfluencedbyhisartisticmotherwho
tookhimtoNewYorkartmuseumsandbroughthimthebookofGreysAnatomywhenhe
wasinthehospitalafterbeinghitbyacarplayinginthestreet.Therefore,toillustratethe
timelineofhislifewithinthebodyofthisdarkchild-esquefiguretodemonstratethatmuch
ofhisartworkwasinfluencedfromthetraumaofhischildhoodandtomaintainthetheme
ofexotichumanfiguresandemphasisontheanatomyofbodypartshemakesthefocusof
manypieces.

FortheactualtimelineIwantedittoshowthathislifewasshortandchaoticandoneevent
felloneaftertheother,ratherthanspreadoutwideacrossahorizontalspanoftime.Also
forthecontent,Iusedshortfragments,keepingconsistentwiththephasesofhislife.

IusedaspecialfontcalledJemboHandsthatwascreatedanddedicatedspeciallyforJean-
Michel.Ithasarandom,freehanddrawnspiritasJean-Michelusedinmanyofhisworks.

ForthecolorthemeIusedamonochromaticthemeofreds,blackandgrey,becauseIdidnt
wantanycolorstofightortakeawayfromthebrightandcolorfulpiecesfromBasquiat.
Additionally,Ifeltthesecolorsexpressemotionandsomewhatofadarkeremotion,as
mostofBasquiatslifewasspent.

Lastly,IusedthisimageofBasquiatposingforoneofhisexhibits,toshowthathereached
fameforhisworkandthathisliferevolvedaroundhimaloneforthemostpartandhim
surroundedandencompassedbyhisartwork.
