FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CHEER LOS ANGELES to Raise Spirits and Funds at Greater Palm Springs Pride 2012

Festival and Parade Sat., Nov. 3 & Sun., Nov. 4; Donations to Benefit AIDS Assistance Program LOS ANGELES (October 30, 2012) The spirited men and women of CHEER LOS ANGELES (Cheer LA) are honored to bring their brand of charitable cheerleading for community causes to the 2012 Greater Palm Springs Pride Festival and Parade Saturday, November 3 and Sunday, November 4 to raise funds for the AIDS Assistance Program, which provides support for people living with HIV/AIDS in the Palm Springs area! For over a decade, Cheer LA has performed for hundreds of thousands of spectators lining S. Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs during the annual Pride Parade as well as the Pride Festival. This year, Cheer LA will kick off its weekend performances by returning to the Pride Festival with a brand-new, high-flying stunt show and an energetic dance routine at the Festivals Rainbow Stage (Saturday, November 3 at 5pm). After Saturdays Festival performance, Cheer LA will also help kick off the nights festivities at the Arenas Block Party on Arenas Road in Downtown Palm Springs (Saturday, November 3 at 6pm). On Sunday morning, Cheer LA will bring another heavy dose of spirit to the Palm Springs Pride Parade (Sunday, November 4, at 10am). Team members and their helpful volunteers will march along the parade route with blue Spirit Buckets in tow to collect donations on behalf of the AIDS Assistance Program, a local organization that provides support to low-income women, men, and children affected by HIV and AIDS in the greater Palm Springs region. Cheer LA will return to the Pride Festival that afternoon for TWO Rainbow Stage performances (Sunday, November 4 at 2:30pm and 5pm). Joining Cheer LA for the weekend will be our sister squads of the Pride Cheerleading Association (PCA), including Cheer San Francisco, San Diego Cheer Elite, Sacramento Sirens Cheer Elite, and Cheer Salt Lake. In 2011, PCA collected $2,000 on behalf of the AIDS Assistance Program through several performances during Pride weekend. PCA is excited to surpass that amount in 2012! About CHEER LOS ANGELES: Since 2001, Cheer Los Angeles has provided a philanthropic outlet for adult men and women interested in the sport of cheerleading. Cheer LA, as well as other squads in the Pride Cheerleading Association (PCA), is an active group of volunteers seeking to promote pride, spirit, and diversity in the LGBT community through dynamic cheer, dance, and stunt performances. At each performance, Cheer LA raises money for its CHEER FOR LIFE fund, which benefits local charities with an emphasis on those serving people affected by HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. To date, Cheer LA has raised over $100,000 for local organizations, and that amount continues to grow.
