Assignment 5: Feasibility Report Rough Due: April 18, 2012. Final Draft Due: May 2, 2012.

You have identified a problem, devised a research plan, conducted interviews using carefully crafted questions and completed other research. You did what you said you would do in the proposal where you presented your project plan. Now its time to tell the decision maker your findings, what they mean and what the decision maker should do given your results. The purpose of this report is to demonstrate that you can summarize research providing a background for your recommendations. It will also demonstrate that you can write a report that incorporates the structure and conventions found in formal reports, including front matter, back matter, and the IMRAD report structure of Introduction, Methods, Results And Discussion. The report will also demonstrate that you can edit a major text for conciseness, parallelism and overuse of passive voice. The report should have:

Front Matter. Front Matter for this report should include the following: o Cover letter of transmittal o Title page o Table of Contents o Executive Summary o List of tables or figures used in the report Introduction. To identify your overall research question for the project, you may find it helpful to return to your Planning Proposal and refine the language found there. Explain the current situation, the existing problem, and why you think the problem needs to be addressed. Methods. Explain the research methods you used to address the problem. Remember that three interviews are required for this assignment plus a fourth method of your choice such as internet or library research. For interviews, briefly identify the people you interviewed and the questions you asked. If you conducted library or internet research, list the topics you researched and what sources you used. Do not share results in this section; only list your methods of research. Results. Share the results of your research. For example, share responses from each person you interviewed, and highlight the findings from any other research you conducted (e.g. internet or library research). Discussion. Provide an explanation of how your results inform the overall research question and problem of the current situation. What have you learned? What conclusions can you draw? What recommendations do you have? Conclusion. Reinforce the recommendation you have to address the situation. Back Matter. For this report, you may have a number of items to include such as: o References of any sources you used, including personal interviews, internet sources, and library sources o List of interview questions o Any other documents relevant to the report
