Let the prayers of the faithful remain so

The prayers of the faithful are made to stay. In the bible there are examples of many servants of God whose prayers were recorded and have remained as an example of how we should approach God in prayer. One of these faithful servants was, of course, King David. Many of his prayers are recorded in the psalms not because they were made by a king, but because they represent an exclusive insight into the intimate relationship of a man close to Gods heart and a faithful worshiper. Lets take a look at some of these prayers in which David shows his commitment and devotion to God in response to His faithfulness.

Prayers of the faithful: Faithful prayers

In Psalm 5 David joins the faithful worshipers who in the morning come to the house of God to pray. Those who put their trust in God will be blessed, but those who rebel against Him will be destroyed. In Psalm 12 David laments that the faithful are scarce on the earth. The oppression of the poor and needy by those who proudly boast of their power over them is a burden in Davids heart. Nevertheless he knows that the Lord will make justice and that Gods word will be exalted and those in need will be vindicated. In Psalm 31 he is still troubled by those who oppose God, but he knows that the prayers of the faithful avail to much and believing that he can say confidently, O love the Lord, all you his saints: for the Lord preserves the faithful, and plentifully rewards the proud doer. Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all you that hope in the Lord. Psalm 89 is a cry for help to those in distress. David is reminding God of the promises made to him and his house during a time when the kingdom is falling to pieces. The king is imploring Gods help and he does it first by thanksgiving and praise, exalting God for his faithfulness. It is good in times of affliction to remember all that God has done for us. The prayers of the faithful must give thanks to God, whose faithfulness is everlasting. In Psalm 101 David is inviting to all those who fear God and trust in Him to be alongside him, but these words can also be applied to God Himself. God is willing to hear the prayers of the faithful who come to Him with a pure heart. His invitation goes like this: My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land, so that they may dwell with me; he who walks in a perfect way, he shall serve Me.

All this prayers that David said have remained written in the bible to guide those of us who want to join in the prayers of the faithful. In praying like this, we will make Gods promises real in our life.
