Reconnected brand with its outer-borough roots and historic urban voice, instituted top-tobottom culture of enterprise, devised and instituted first-ever initiative to converge print and web staffs and create universal, platform-agnostic copy and layout desk, fostered the growth of social media to engage readers, increase audience and enrich local news report, managed staff and $44 million newsroom budget through three painful rounds of downsizing. Hired, fired and trained key editors and columnists; ran daily news, planning and enterprise meetings; chose stories, angles and art, suggested designs and wrote headlines and subheads for page one every night.
