Signaling for Solaris Sparc HD 3

Signaling Solutions from Tieto provides a turnkey signalling platform for integration with telecom applications like location-based or prepaid services, messaging, voice over IP, softswitch and IMS solutions. Product overview

Signaling for Solaris from Tieto is a server-based signaling solution for Oracle Solaris systems, consisting of both hardware and software. It is designed for system integrators, application developers and network operators implementing SS7 connectivity in an Oracle Sun Server environment. The key benefits of the Signaling for Solaris product are: High capacity Small footprint Distributed signaling SS7 over IP and traditional E1/T1/J1 in one product Executes on Oracle Solaris 9 &10 OS on Oracle Sun Servers using Sparc technology The Signaling for Solaris Sparc HD 3 product is based on the Tieto Horizontal Distribution architecture HD, which provides the following benefits when using SS7: Performance The performance scales linearly by adding new stack instances to new cores in the system. The added cores can be in the same multi core CPU or distributed on several CPUs. Scalability - The system is easily scalable by adding several cores in same or different servers. Traffic load is automatically distributed over the available cores. HW / SW Maintenance - The configuration is not fixed, meaning that it is possible to add or remove instances of the stack in different cores without bringing the whole system down. Redundancy - Redundancy is provided by utilizing several instances of the stack which share one Local Signaling Point (OPC / DPC).

Key benefits

Support for up to 64 Low Speed links / ISR Communication Controller SS7 over IP (SIGTRAN) and traditional SS7 over TDM (E1/T1/J1) in one product Support for HSL (High Speed Link), Q.703 Annex A. Four HSL links supported for the ISR-PMC and the ISR-PMC/ PCI Adapter Communication Controllers Support for HSL (High Speed Link), 2 Mbit ATM. Four HSL ATM links supported for the ISR-PCIe the ISR-PMC and the ISR-PMC/ PCI Adapter Communication Controllers SIGTRAN in compliance with IETF standards, M3UA (RFC 4666) and SCTP (RFC4960) Support for IPv4 and IPv6 Easy integration of thread-safe call back APIs for C/C++ and Java. The APIs can access the signaling servers over TCP/IP to enable distributed system solutions Possibility for multiple applications to use the same protocol stack Signaling Manager: Java based management tool for Configuration, Operation & Maintenance, providing both a GUI and a CLI Distributed C/C++ and Java API for integration with other management applications TvTool: Graphical Trace Viewer tool The ISR SS7 Interface Boards and packaging are in conformance to the requirements of Directive 2002/95/ EC-RoHS and Compliant with Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE)

Features Standalone or High-Availability with HD configu

ration (up to 16 instances in a single system) Host-based solution (runs in Solaris User Space) Protocols: MTP, SCCP, TCAP, MAP, ANSI41, AIN, INAP, BSSAP, CAP and ISUP in compliance with ITU, ANSI, TTC and Chinese SS7 standards Mixed stacks: ITU application parts over ANSI SCCP/MTP ANSI application parts over ITU SCCP/MTP

System Architecture

Tieto Horizontal Distribution architecture is a concept where there are multiple instances (Back Ends) of the stack which perform in parallel. Signaling traffic is load-shared over the available Back Ends. The Back Ends can be distributed onto several cores and/or boards. The link layer processing entities (Front Ends) are collocated on the same core/board as a Back End. All signaling SW and HW are supervised (by the ECS and ECM) and if a instance of the stack malfunctions, traffic is automatically rerouted to other available instances of the stack. The supervisor function will try to restart the failing signaling SW and/or HW. As soon as an instance of the stack becomes available, it will automatically start to process signalling traffic. All Back Ends in an HD system will share the same network address, i.e. Point Code.
