Birth of Lolek - Chapter 2: After his mother was ill and advised not to become pregnant again, Karol

was born on May 18, 1920. Church bells rang when they opened the window, which were the first sounds he heard. Death of his Mother Emilia - Chapter 2: At 9 years old, Lolek's mother Emilia dies after along illness. The time he spent with his mother before her death affected him greatly and made a deep impression on him that would change his life forever. Karol sees Edmund's Sacrifice - Chapter 4: Lolek learns the true meaning of love, human dignity, and sacrifice by watching his brother Edmund treat a girl with scarlet fever that no other doctors would help. In the end Edmund died from scarlet fever. Lolek discovers theater - Chapter 5 - 8: As a 14 year old Lolek discovers theater and he is a very good actor. Lolek decides that his vocation will be actor, director, and author. Soon Lolek is perfoming religious plays. Brother Albert helps him make a transition from acting to the priesthood. The death of Karol Sr. - Chapter 8: February 18, 1941 Karol Sr. (Captain) dies while Lolek is at work because of nazi rules. Lolek blamed himself for this father dying without the last rites of the Church. Lolek stayed and prayed for him the entire night before the funeral. His fathers death renews his passion for the Living Rosary. Karol becomes a priest - Chapter 9: With the nazi's in Poland, Karol announces he wants to become a priest to Cardinal Sapieha. Karol studies underground, is almost killed by the nazi's twice, and passes all of his exams to become a priest. He became a priest on November 1, 1946. Karol Becomes Bishop, the Arch Bishop of Krakow - Chapter 14: Karol becomes bishop/archbishop after he was left off the list of candidates by Wyszynski, not once but twice. His nomination was supported by the communists even though he was against communism. Pope from a Foreign Land Elected - Chapter 15: Karol becomes Pope JPII on October 16, 1978. He initially refuses but can not refuse when a second vote calls him to duty. Karol chooses the name John Paul II and is loved by his followers because he is so different. He is the first foreign pope born outside of Italy in 400 years. JPII in White Robe is Shot - Chapter 16: JPII was shot May 13, 1981 at the Vatican by Ali Agca. Pope nearly died, from the wounds and then had a difficult time recovering due to infection from blood transfusions. Apparitions Occur and then Come True - Chapter 1 and 18: The Apparitions of Fatima occurred in 1917 before Karol was born. Later in his life he started to understand that they applied to him and the evils of communism. JPII believed the apparitions and fought to end communism. As the third secret implied he would be shot in a white robe moving towards the cross and Russia would be consecrated.
