Study of Hindi Language Creativity of Class IX students in relation to their achievement in Hindi

A B S T R A C T
This study aims to find out the Hindi Language Creativity among class IX students in relation to their achievement in Hindi. This is a descriptive survey research in which the sample comprised of 100 students of class IX selected from five Marathi medium schools of Aurangabad city randomly. The data was collected through Hindi Language Creativity scale of Malhotra and Sucheta Kumari. The scores were analyzed by using Pearson's coefficient of correlation. The findings revealed that there is positive and significant correlation between Hindi Language Creativity and achievement of students in Hindi. Key Words: Hindi, Language Creativity, Achievement Etc.

Interoduction:Creativity is an ability of an individual to put the common things together in an uncommon way. It is a skill that dwells in every person in a unique way. According to Generatic studies on creativity it is revealed that every human being has creative ability. It is a mental process in which Head, Hand and Heart work together to bring out something new and innovative ideas/products. In 1950, Guilford opened a new area of research through presenting 'structure of Intellect Model' with 'Creative Behavior'. In 1976, Freeman observed and differentiates creative elements in several fields. Then many researches on creativity related to many areas and ideas have taken place throughout the world. The language creativity is also studied for various languages. There are few studies which were reported here related to concerned component of creativity. Malhotra and Sucheta Kumari (1990) in their respective studies reported that synetics model of teaching affected the improvement in all five aspects of language creativity of various languages. N. Sumangla (1990) reported that there is significant relation between the language creativity and teachers' involvement and I.Q. of students is a major cause for creativity in language. Uvaraj, T. (2011) reported that there is no significant differences among language creativity of college students on the basis of gender, nature of institution and subject disciplines but there are variations among language creativity of rural and urban college students whereas Rao, V. & Satyapal (2011) revealed that the flexibility dimension of language creativity of Scheduled Caste students has been affected by gender, place of living, marital status, type of family, category and mother's occupation etc. Apart from these, the present study focused on the relationship between

Hindi Language Creativity and achievement in Hindi of class IX students. Objective:1. To study and find out the relationship between Hindi Language Creativity and achievement in Hindi of class IX students. Hypothesis:There is no significant relationship between Hindi Language Creativity and achievement in Hindi of IX students. Materials and Methods: Sample: The sample comprised of randomly selected100 students of class IX selected from five Marathi medium schools of Aurangabad city. Tool: The Language Creativity Test standardized by S.P. Malhotra and Sucheta Kumari was used to collect required data. Procedure: The researcher has sought permission from Heads of schools for collecting data from class IX students to solve language creativity test. Then she has collected I semester's marks in Hindi subject of class IX students from their subject teacher. The collected language creativity tests were scored and scores were analyzed further. Result S and Discussion: The data was analyzed with the help of Pearson's coefficient of correlation between Hindi language creativity and achievement in Hindi (I semester scores in Hindi) the calculated value of coefficient of correlation is +0.79, therefore the null hypotheses is rejected and it is concluded that there is positive, good and significant correlation between Hindi language creativity and achievement in Hindi of Class IX, students. It means the student with high Hindi scores have high level of Hindi language creativity also.

Conclussion Generally, it is observed that creativity is concerned with good cognitive abilities. Therefore, if every student should be judged in such a way to recognize his/her creative potentials in a particular subject matter, it would bring excellence among them. For

this the teachers must do some extra efforts for developing creativity among school students through various co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The subject wise and activity wise creative groups of student must be nurtured in the schools for improving their underlying potentials.
