JV Blue Bearkats vs.

Klein Collins Tigers 11/1/12 What a great way to end the season with a solid win over Klein Collins. Both the offense and defense played one of their best games of the year. The offense had a great first half with the runs up the middle, around the edge and timely passes keeping the Collins defense out of rhythm. Norales started off the game at running back and picked up chunks of yards, 10 -12 yards at times. The offensive line opened some great holes and sealing the edge. Way to go Smith, Babbitt, Lusk, Coatney, Kirincic and Stelter! Upchurch completed several passes to Halliday picking up a couple of first downs and then hit McHugh for a 60 yard touchdown. On another drive in the second quarter the offense moved the ball down the field with a similar mix of runs and passes. Halliday made a one handed catch as he fell to the ground at the 8 yard line to keep the drive going. Then, a pass to McHugh in the end zone scored the 2nd touchdown. Kats were up 13-0 at the half. In the 3rd and 4th quarter Hunt came in and one of his first plays gained about 40 yard down to the Collins four yard line. Kats settled for an Ables field goal. To finish game the Bearkats were running plays to keep the clock going so the Tigers would burn their timeouts. On one 3rd down Upchurch completed a 20+ yard pass to Halliday to get a new set of downs. Then on another 3rd and long Hunt broke a run for 19 to set up 4th and 1 and Upchurch picked up the first on a sneak to seal the victory and run out the clock. The defense came ready to tame the Tigers offense. Solomon set the tone making big tackles including several behind the line of scrimmage. Tywon also broke up a pass play that forced a punt. Bullock and Matthews were strong in the middle filling the gaps and squashing some quick hitting runs. The defense also forced a QB fumble late in the second quarter stopping what had been a solid drive. The Tigers received the ball to start the 2 nd half but the Kats quickly killed any momentum by stopping them on 4th down. Morgan began to find runners in the backfield and tackled the QB one play and the running back on the next one to limit Collins options. The Tigers offense scored on a reverse and a short run but Klein stopped a 2 point conversion. When the Tigers attempted an onside kick the special teams made a great play and secured the ball.

The final score was Klein Bearkats 16 and the Klein Collins Tigers 13. It was a great season with a record of 6-4 overall and 5-3 in district. Thanks to the JV coaches, especially Coach Anderson and Yates.
