MANILA, Philippines --The body of the pilot of the light plane that crashed off Masbate City with Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo aboard has been retrieved, authorities announced Wednesday. The body, which was still strapped in the planes right seat, is that of the pilot, Capt. Jessup Bahinting, according to 9th Infantry Battalion commander Lt. Col. Julian Pacatan. Authorities initially described the remains as unrecognizable but Bahintings relatives identified it through a ring and a Fossil watch. The recovery of the Bahintings body came a day after divers retrieved the remains of Robredo from the Piper Seneca which plunged into the sea last Saturday. That leaves only the copilot, Nepalese Kshitiz Chand, unaccounted for. Jun Abrazado, Robredos aide, has survived the crash. Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin said a ship was able to pull the plane, which was upside down at a depth of 180 feet, to 68 feet late Wednesday. There divers were able to recover the pilots body. Task Force Kalihim, said it took two attempts before the wreckage was pulled to shallower waters. He said that on the first try, the rope fastened to the wreckage came loose. Divers had to go down again to fasten another rope to the tail of the plane. The one holding was the original rope that was placed yesterday (Tuesday) so we now have two ropes attached to the tail of the aircraft, that rope saved our day, said Del Rosario. Strong underwater currents delayed diving operations in the morning. Naval Forces Southern Luzon chief Capt. Rommel Galang said the dive was aborted on the recommendation of diving supervisor Lt. Ares Camino. Diving operations resumed in the afternoon, when sea conditions improved.
Most Outstanding Filipino-Americans event was a fundraising project spearheaded by Ms. Darna Umayam for Philippine Childrens Charities Inc. in cooperation with Press Photographers PhilippinesUSA, Inc. Tony Olaes, Director of Gawad Kalinga USA, was Saturday, July 28ths recipient of One Million Pesos. Gawad Kalinga, aka GK, is a foundation with a vision of a slum-free Philippines. GK started in Dumaguete City, initially volunteered by Singles for Christ, dedicated to rescue and rehabilitate communities by housing construction for the benefit of homeless families. Backed by heads of our country since Pres. Corazon Aquino until today, this project is still ongoing till helplessness and homelessness is fought and finally won. The Philippine project has now become a global model in development and is adopted by other developing countries to alleviate poverty. Tony Olaes, Creative Director and President of ODM Arts, in his acceptance speech at the event, announced that he will send his personal check and donation of One Million Pesos on behalf of the project and the other 99 honorees to the children of Bantay Bata 163. In his latest communications, Olaes said that it was shocking that Bantay Bata rejected the funds and for him to in turn send one right back to them. He said he chose to do that because he felt it was the right thing to do for the children who were meant to be served - there was no either or. At the end, everyone won except for the perpetrators. The GK Family were overwhelmed by the donation and will make sure the funds go to the most deserving of our people. He congratulated Umayam for an
amazing event on behalf of the tens and thousands of volunteers and beneficiaries of Gawad Kalinga worldwide. Olaes extended their congratulatory message by saying maraming maraming salamat Tita, you are a hero to all of us! PPP-USA officers and members would like to extend their congratulations to Ms. Darna Umayam, All 100 FilAm awardees and all those who have been involved to make this event happen. Being a part of a trustworthy and reliable charity project was the most exciting, overwhelming experience a person could ever be proud of in his lifetime. In her message, Umayam thanked the more than 950 who attended the event, performers from NUEVO School of Contemporary Dance who performed excerpts from Chicago and Burlesque, singers Anthony Paul, Nicole Villalon, Sheila Ferrari Dorothy Rae Gonzales and Antoinette Taus with their rendition of Broadway hit songs, the local and mainstream media who covered the event, sponsors, Temple Hospital, Philippine Airlines, Dole Company, Majestic Vacations, 5 Linx, 24-7 Remit Card, Law office of Atty. From the awardees, ranking from Hollywood to grassroots to community leaders who made a name for their track records, Doctors, Architects, Engineers, Nurses, Young achievers, Ministry, Labor Leaders, Business Entrepreneurs, etc. and to the people who bought tickets and for those who were just there to support. Because she has been doing mostly horror films, Lovi Poe has automatically been crowned Horror Princess (with Kris Aquino as the reigning Horror Queen), with Regal Films Guni-Guni (first directorial job of Tara Illenberger who used to be an editor at Roadrunner) as her latest spine-tingling outing. Shes Lovi-lovely Horror Princess, isnt she? Heres a brief encounter with Lovi who should make Christopher Lee (is he still around?) drop his fangs sans resistance: How many horror trips have you taken so far? Guni-Guni (opening nationwide on Wednesday, Aug. 22) is my fifth horror film. I play a challenging role as Mylene. Shes a student of medicine who is haunted by her past. So many years ago, her identical Siamese twin was killed when doctors tried to separate them. Now she is haunted by her dead twin. Is it real or just an imagination? Is she really being haunted or is she going crazy? Abangan! Whats your most memorable horror role? My character Jasmine in last years Aswang. After Guni-Guni, the most anticipated is Tiktik, Aswang Chronicles where I play a pregnant wife hounded by a group of hungry aswangs. My first movie was horror, Shake, Rattle & Roll. We were a family haunted by a Christmas Tree. What was the first horror movie that youve seen? I think it was The Exorcist. I couldnt sleep for weeks after watching it. The image of Linda Blairs possessed Regan haunted me. I was six years old then. After that, I saw Frankenstein and the same thing happened. Sleepless in my bedroom! Favorite horror film? I love Shutter and The Eye, both Thai films. Also, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Omen (the original), The Others and Patayin Sa Sindak Si Barbara with @ThePinoyInsider
Tita Susan (Roces) in the titular role. Favorite horror actors? Christopher Lee, Bela Lugosi and, even if she scared me sleepless, Linda Blair, hahahaha! Are you happy being a Horror Princess? Of course, its an honor! I would gladly take that title. At least may title ako kahit papano, hahahaha! When will you get the Horror Queen title from Kris Aquino? Huwag na. Thats for her. As Ive said, mayroon na ako, eh! Hahahaha!
It happened a long time ago at the Aristocrat Restaurant. May ka-date ako (not identified). I was short of money. The waiter came to my rescue; he helped me with the bill. I went back soon after to pay him back. The first toy I ever played with was Teks. That was the craze at that time among kids. Ang pamato ko noon si Phantom. As an adult, kami ni Susan used to play Pacman, the video game. We also solve crossword puzzles and play Monopoly or Scrabble. When he declared his candidacy in the 2004 Presidential elections. Best lesson I learned from my dad (Fernando Poe Sr.): Never be a quitter. My mom (Bessie Kelly Poe) was a peaceful woman, very gentle and very artistic. She love(s); yes, she love(s). She taught us how to love. She always reminded us siblings to be sincere. Susan and I are early risers. Were up at 4:30 or 5:30 a.m., earlier than the sun. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I would linger in bed with Susan. We just talk and exchange stories. Kuwentokuwento lang kami ni Susan. Or we read the papers together in bed. And then we have coffee together. She tells me kung ano ang lakad niya for the day and I tell her kung ano ang lakad ko. The last thing I do before I go to sleep? I pray. Asked how he wanted to be remembered, Da King broke into a shy smile. I want to be remembered simply as a man who held no grudge against anybody and, hopefully, against whom nobody held any grudge.

empress of Horror
EMPRESS Schuck is now tagged by some writers as Empress of Horror since shell be seen in two horror films that will be shown in quick succession. Regals Guni-Guni opens today in theatres while next week, its Amorosa: The Revenge from Skylight Films. How does she feel about being called Empress of Horror? Okay lang. Si Kris Aquino daw ang Queen of Horror, si Lovi Poe ang Princess, so Empress naman ako since its my real name, she laughs. But Im glad magkaiba ang roles ko in these two movies. In GuniGuni, Im a nursing student with a third eye at nakikita ko yung bad spirit who disturbs Lovi, na kanya palang dead twin sister. The film is also about abortion and theres a second ghost in the movie, that of an aborted child na binaon sa garden ng bahay where Lovi lives. In Amorosa naman, Im a rape and murder victim at ako yung nagmumulto sa pension house na tinitirhan nina Angel Aquino and her sons Martin del Rosario and Enrique Gil. So, sa first one, nakakakita ako ng multo, but sa second one, ako na yung multo.

CHRIS Leonardo from Laguna was the first Artista Academy student who was kicked out. It was a tense evening last Monday, especially for the Bottom 3, Chris, Benjo Leoncio and Brent Manzano, and also for other lowest pointers during the week, Nicole Estrada, Aki Blanco, Steph Rowe and Jon Orlando. They were called by Asian Academy of Television Arts Principal Wilma Galvante to her office to remind them of the need to connect with the audience. Even if Chris is out, his studies at the AATA will continue to train him in becoming a professional actor. The 16 students also got to meet TV5 boss Manny Pangilinan in person. Hes so pleased with them and promised all of them a free trip to Hong Kong next month.

On GMA7, he immediately got the opportunity to work alongside GMA7 star Marian Rivera as alongside her, Rafael has been assigned for a Pinoy adaptation of one many famous Korean novels. But we ask how much of a big deal is this transfer knowing ABS-CBN has much more other talents? TOP TV talk show host Boy Abunda has reacted to what Bourne Legacy director Tony Gilroy has said about the city of Manila. Although the director and his team brought us some worldwide prestige by saying the last 20 minutes of the film featured the country, he made a blunder by calling the place ugly and stinky. In his interview on Bloomberg TV with Charlie Rose, he described the country as Bourneish, adding, Its just so colorful and ugly and gritty and raw and stinky and crowded. This made Abunda call the director walang- hiya. He said in the ABS-CBN news broadcast show that was just his own opinion. Itoy personal na opinion ko lamang, he added. Its respectable to raise opinions if theyre all true. But does the director not entitled to his own opinion, too?

MANILA, Philippines Actress Lovi Poe may have willingly shot a love scene with leading man Benjamin Alves for their upcoming movie GuniGuni but it seems she has had a change of heart about it and is now bothered by it. The thing isang nangyari kasi while we are shooting it...of course hindi naman kasi ako kumokontra kapag sinabi ng director namin. But then I really noticed after na parang it was too much, parang I did so much there, Lovi said on H.O.T. TV, Aug. 19. Not detailing what she was complaining about in particular, Lovi just shared that, May mga shots kasi at saka may mga movements na parang kailangan naming gawin doon. It dawned on her that they may have gone overboard. Na-realize ko nga na parang gusto kong umupo doon (editing room), she stated. But she clarified, Hindi ko naman gustong ipatanggal completely but then I just want to sit down [and see] kung paano nila ie-edit. Unrehearsed Before doing the love scene, Lovi and Benjamin were unable to rehearse for the shot. Biglang halikan na lang, Lovi quipped, although she related that her director asked her kung kailangan daw naming dalawa na magkakilala pa. Benjamin was asked if he felt some sense of awkwardness while doing the scene.
lovi Poe Wants To Guide editing dingdong Of love scene With benjamin alves snubs Politics for showbiz
She noted, Ive done it beforemay mga nagawa na akong [love scenes] especially sa My Neighbors Wife. Yun yung feeling ko na kaya ko na but then mas grabe pa yung ginawa ko dito. Describing the scene as very animalistic, Lovi nevertheless justified, Kailangan talaga siya. Kumbaga, I transformed into someone [else]. Benjamin feels the same, saying hindi naman siya scene na para ang magawa yungtheres a love scene in the movie. It was necessary for the scene to be there. Mother Lilys reaction Mother Lily Monteverde, Regal entertainment matriarch, did not allow Lovi to sit in during the editing of her love scenes in Guni-Guni. Its art and Lovi should learn how to trust us. After all, kami ang nag-build up sa movie career niya, Mother Lily was quoted to have said in an interview. When asked about her relationship with Mother after airing her complaint, Lovi said, Were good, actually, Okay naman. I will see her tonight. Upon hearing Mother Lilys statement, the actress was left with no choice but to just trust her. After that, nakinig na lang ako. Wala, tiklop ako, she said. I do trust them naman but then I was just really nervous.
I think to get the scene done with, I took that out before the awkwardness, bago pumasok sa scene, Benjamin reasoned out. In the end, he feels that we were able to do it, execute really well [and] smoothly, I think. He also felt that the scene called for it na spontaneous so I think it was better not to [have us rehearsed]. Gut fee Trusting her instincts, Lovi immediately called her manager Leo Dominguez to bring up her concern. Sabi ko nga nababother lang ako because its a bit, yun nga, really too much.

Manila, Philippines DINGDONG Dantes categorically denies the rumor that he is considering a career in politics. I am swamped with both TV and film work. Paano ko pa mahaharap ang pagpasok sa ibang mundo like politics? he says. DINGDONG Dantes Right now, I dont want my showbiz career to suffer by joining politics. I still want to excel in this field bago ako sumubok ng iba. The rumor is not exactly new. It has been whispered for some time since he became active in the youth organization YesPinoy Foundation. But the whispers grew especially loud recently after he took part in the foundations flood relief operations. Dingdong says he was just doing plain and simple charity work. Yes Pinoy, he says, is a scholarship foundation that regularly reaches out to the poor during times of calamity. And hes been doing that even before he joined the group. So people shouldnt take it na parang may political motive ako. Walang ganon dahil matagal na tayong tumutulong kahit na noong wala pa ang YesPinoy Foundation, the 32-year old actor says.

incessant calls and reminders from the Influential Mentor of her Cute Partner. Overbearing IM kept insisting that CP and PS turn their reel romance into a real affair. PS got turned off big-time, especially since persistent rumors link CP with IM. And before IM could raise a racket, PS found a new Onscreen Beau, leaving CP out in the cold.
Everyone thought Veteran Hunk had retired from the flesh trade, especially since he now occupies a respectable position in society. But its hard to teach old dogs new tricks, as they say. VH has just found a new steady benefactor in Wealthy Gay. No wonder VH now looks like a million bucks, always impeccably dressed, often in three-piece suits and smelling of expensive cologne. Credit goes to WG for VHs makeover.
Moonlighting, too
Elmo Magalona on his Just One Summer costar Julie anne San Jose: Sensitive talaga. Mabilis siya maapektuhan. (But thats a requirement for actors!) Zsa Zsa Padilla on shooting I Doo Bi Doo, Bi Doo not long after the passing of life partner Dolphy: Ang show business commitment yan, eh the show must go on. (Gotta love old school show biz.) (Leave us out of this.)
Vic Sotto, asked if hes running in the 2013 elections: Diyan sa Quezon Memorial Circle! (Sounds like a no.) lovi Poe on meeting the parents of rumored boyfriend Jake Cuenca: Yes, nakilala ko lang sila. Ayoko nang magsalita! Were not actually dating. We are close. (This line is really old.) Megan Young, asked if The Reunion costar Xian lim is a slow kisser: OK lang! (You dont seem impressed.) Julia Montes, asked if Enchong Dee has a shot at her: Boyfriend-material naman siya. May pag-asa! (Honesty! How refreshing!) Kean Cipriano, asked if hes courting Bangs Garcia: Timing lang yan! (Always.)

She may be one of the most visible and sought after Filipino-American Talk Show Host in the U.S. and Asia, but Jannelle So retains her bona fide beauty inside and out. Read how she shares her secrets to a happy life.
Los Angeles, CA (August 2, 2012) Lights. Camera. Hustle and bustle on set as the picture-perfect, Jannelle So, 34, prepares to broadcast the latest hot topic & special guests in her longest-running Filipino Talk Show, Kababayan LA, airing 4:30pm PST daily on KSCI (LA18) television. Her career first soared in the Philippines, covering top local and international events such as the 1997 ASEAN Informal Summit in Malaysia, 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok and 2002 Asian Games in Korea, 1998 Philippine Presidential Elections, and the 1998 Centennial Celebrations in the Philippines including coverage in at least 10 fights of Philippine boxing pride, Manny Pacquiao. Could it be that the distinguished downto-earth journalist has turned diva over the years with all her success? Lounging in sweats and sipping water with lemon, she talks workouts, growing up bullied, and her secret weapon to overcome personal struggles. I try to be a bit below my ideal weight so on TV I get to look like I have my ideal weight on.
A: Physically, I run at least once a week, about 3 miles, usually Saturday mornings. And I do a mix of yoga, Barre and dance classes on weekdays. I try to hit the gym 2-3 times during the week. I know its not enough, but its so difficult to squeeze it in a busy schedule like my 12-more hour days. I dont diet but I limit what I eat. I used to crave sweets and my meal wasnt complete without desserts. But I gave it up for Lent last year and after 40 days of living without, I found that I didnt crave it anymore. Also, I only eat when Im hungry and only eat enough. I try to snack healthy, too. TV really does add a few pounds; so
A: I was a geek. I was the student who turned in a 20-page report when the teacher only asked for 15. I was the geek who would spend lunch periods in the library... but it was also because I was bullied in high school. I dont tell this story much. But I think people will pick up a thing or two. I was bullied in high school; starting my sophomore year until graduation. I never figured out if I was being bullied because I was a geek or I was a geek because I was being bullied. No prom for me. I did not go. The schoolmate that started it approached me on graduation day and tearfully apologized for what she did. I forgave right there and then... but it really scarred me. No child should ever go through something like that. But at the same time, parents should be responsible too. Related to this, it is a good thing to admit a wrongdoing and apologize. Its liberating. And its also good for our souls to accept an apology. Life is too short to hold grudges against people. And our journey here on Earth is already wearisome. Traveling light, without bitterness and other negative feelings toward others, enables us to walk happier, be more joyful. And the better we feel inside, the better we look outside :)
Q: any personal Q: What advice can struggle/inspiration you give to girls? that you overcame? A: Cultivate and nurture family
A: Life will never run out of trials. And as human beings, we only have 2 choices, really - resist or deal. There are lots of quotes about this, too - learning from mistakes, turning our wounds into wisdom, and so on. But in my experience, only GOD delivers. And when you are anchored in faith, all obstacles seem easier to overcome, knowing that we get help from above who knows all and sees all and plans all. It is much easier to surrender than fight. I went to Korea early this year for Korean Travel Organization and visited the small town of Naju where a certain Sister Julia Kim speaks of miracles and apparitions. I interviewed her and one of my biggest take aways from that conversation was her advice for spiritual cleansing as we do our normal daily routine: As we take off make up at night and/or take a shower, we pray to God to take away inner impurities in ourselves, especially from our hearts. As we put on make up in the morning, lipstick, we pray that God guides our speech so we may only speak that which is beautiful and positive. As we put make up on our eyes, we pray that He opens our eyes to the things we can do here to help build His kingdom, things we can do to help others.
relationships and friendships. Joys are really better enjoyed when shared; and sorrows easier to get over when the burden is shared. When you surround yourself with people whos got your back, you can face anything with confidence; get tips and pieces of advice on things as mundane as latest make up trends or as serious as surviving lifes trials. Be comfortable in your own skin. Being true to ones self is MUCH better than conforming to society. But you cant be true to yourself without knowing yourself. So spend quiet times alone. Give yourself a break. Take care of yourself. LOVE yourself.
A: Nope. My younger sister was taller, model-esque, and striking. I was more plainlooking then. She was the beauty of the family. I was the brains. Thank goodness I discovered make up and I learned how to draw my brows and attach lashes :)

Pinapangalawahan namin yun.

MANILA, Philippines - Korean pop group 2NE1 held its first concert in the US on Aug. 17 (Aug. 18 in Manila) at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The US concert is part of the 2NE1 Global Tour: New Evolution, which kicked off in Seoul, South Korea last month. 2NE1 performed the groups hit songs before 7,000 fans, including Fire, I Dont Care, and Dont Stop the Music. In a concert review, the New York Times said, 2NE1 is a girl group in the Destinys Child or Spice Girls mold, but it also incorporates plenty of rapping and some reggae for good measure, as well as production thats indebted to arenasize dance music. It said 2NE1 has become a huge
success in the last three years, thanks to the efficiency by entertainment conglomerates. K-pop moves at a speed faster than late capitalism, hybridizing styles and sounds at will and pivoting quickly, the New York Times said. The newspaper said, During the twohour show this fuzzy center held up impressively, hitting a lull only late in the night during an ill-advised ballad run. However, the New York Times said the concert was more about visuals. Despite all the pageantry there was still something slightly unfinished about this performance, with its emphasis on scale and spectacle, not on polish and finesse, it said. It described CL as the spark plug, who sought the spotlight more aggressively. During her solo turn, she mock-D.J.ed
Rihannas We Found Love on a platform high over the stage, fooling no one though enjoyable to watch all the same, reviewer Jon Caramanica wrote. Caramanica praised Minzy for being 2NE1s anchor, singing with confidence and a rich tone, and even dancing in a way that kept up with the hyperactive backing
troupe. He described as Sandara Park as the most coy of the group. She sings in a thin, velvety tone thats best as an accent. The New York Times, however, criticized Boms singing. Bom, for her part, aimed higher, with ambitious vocals that didnt always hit their marks. She appeared less and less steady as the night progressed, it said. There were bright spots during the concert though. It shined on the restrained pop-house of In the Club, and also the Kylie Minogue-esque disco of Stay Together and the winning I Love You, the newspaper said. The New York Times said of the whole concert: There were dance moves not quite executed to their finish, sporadic lip-syncing and some vocal parts rendered shakily. 2NE1 will be appearing on Facebook Live at 5 p.m. PDT on Aug. 22 (Aug. 23 in Manila) to chat and answer questions from fans. They will be the first Asian singers to visit the Facebook headquarters in California. 2NE1s next concert will be on Aug. 24 at the Nokia Theatre LA Live in Los Angeles

followed by styling products that form hair into brush-able curls, Kevin said. For almost any hair type or length, the Denman Paddle Brush ($11.95, Folica. com) is great to help detangle hair and very easy to use for a fast blow outit creates a smooth, sleek look, Kevin said. This brush is great for most hair types and textures, fine or thin hair textures, or hair that has low density.
When it comes to tight curls, the trick to smoothing out your locks is to loosen things up. If you have tight curls or curls with a lot of kink, the wider youll want the spaces between bristles, Kevin said. He recommends Denman Classic Styling Brushes ($10.75, Soap.com) with six to nine rows of bristles. These brushes feature white, nylon pin-like bristles, Kevin said. It is great for most hair textures, except fine or thin textures or hair that has low density.
Its not uncommon to step out of the shower with knotty, messy hair, and unless youre Heidi Klum, brushing it out with your fingers is not an option. Brushes that have wider spaced bristles are best to help detangle hair, however in some instances, a comb works best for detangling. Brushes that have natural bristles, flexible nylon bristles, padded/ cushioned brushes and bristles are gentler on wet hair. One of his favorites? Mason Pearson Nylon & Boar Bristle Brushes ($115, Sleekhair.com), which are medium cushion brushes with natural bristles and single nylon quills that provide good grip and control for smoothing hair.
My heart goes out to the big-haired girl who wants a sleek, straight look. It can be near impossible to get a frizz-free blowout. The best way to control a curl when manipulating it with a brush or your fingers is to first care for your hair with the right shampoo and conditioner,
Tired of the Jennifer Aniston look, and longing for body? Theres a brush for that. While big, round brushes are great for smoothing fly-aways, little, round brushes are the trick to adding more texture. In general, round brushes are best for adding shape and volume; the smaller the diameter of the brush, the more bend and wave youll add to the curl, Kevin said. He really likes YS Park Brush ($44, Precisionshears.com) from Japan, because it has natural boar and nylon bristles that give a glossy look, without losing volume in your hair.
