I have not read Angelica Panganibans blogs/posts, but according to some colleagues, it seems that somewhat bitter statements pertain to her ex, Derek Ramsay. Just last week on her Instagram post (which I printed in a previous column), Angel could not contain her joy as she described the perfect Sunday she had with John Lloyd Cruz. If her heart is truly happy now, there should be no more room left for ill feelings. Then again, only Angel and Derek know why they broke up. Derek has only good words to say about Angel and he wants wonderful memories to stay that way. Since Derek is still in London, I asked his manager, Jojie Dingcong, about his sentiments. Its hard to assume, Jojie said. But theyre really about Derek, I know hes a gentleman and will handle the matter properly. Wouldnt it be better for Angelica to go derek to the point? Some questions are better left unanswered, but not those pertaining to love and goodbye.

Joy pursued. Welcome everyone especially those who are smiling out of warmth.
At press time, Angel and JLs pic has garnered 6,139 likes on IG. It has elicited 506 comments, ranging from positive to cynical ones. At this point, both of them may not know yet for sure where they are headed but they are sure having fun getting there. Instead of passing judgment on Angelica and Lloydie, lets wish them well. Aprs tout, everyone, even superstars like them, deserve a second crack at love and happiness because it can get very lonely at the top.

THE late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo will have a state funeral, Malacaang announced yesterday saying Robredos family had agreed to the highest kind of funeral a Filipino can have. Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Undersecretary Manuel Quezon III bared the state funeral for Robredo in a bulletin of the Committee on Funeral Arrangements and Burial. The panel was created on Tuesday. The late secretary will remain at the Archbishops Palace in Naga until tomorrow, and on the same day will be flown to Manila to lie in state in Malacaang until Sunday morning when he will be brought back to Naga City. Quezon said Robredos remains will not be brought to the DILG office in Quezon City anymore to minimize movement of the body as requested by the family. The Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Presidential Security Group, and the Philippine National Police will render departure and arrival honors in Naga City and Manila. The Committee on Funeral Arrangements and Burial is yet to announce whether Robredos remains in the Palace will be open to public viewing. Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr., who was also designated as officer-in-charge of the Department of Interior and Local Government, also announced the state funeral for Robredo. President Benigno Aquino earlier signed Proclamation No. 460, proclaiming a period of six days starting Aug. 21 as Days of National Mourning for Robredo. During the six-day period, the national flag shall be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset in all government buildings and installations in the Philippines and in our posts abroad.

MANILA, Philippines --The body of the pilot of the light plane that crashed off Masbate City with Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo aboard has been retrieved, authorities announced Wednesday. The body, which was still strapped in the planes right seat, is that of the pilot, Capt. Jessup Bahinting, according to 9th Infantry Battalion commander Lt. Col. Julian Pacatan. Authorities initially described the remains as unrecognizable but Bahintings relatives identified it through a ring and a Fossil watch. The recovery of the Bahintings body came a day after divers retrieved the remains of Robredo from the Piper Seneca which plunged into the sea last Saturday. That leaves only the copilot, Nepalese Kshitiz Chand, unaccounted for. Jun Abrazado, Robredos aide, has survived the crash. Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin said a ship was able to pull the plane, which was upside down at a depth of 180 feet, to 68 feet late Wednesday. There divers were able to recover the pilots body. Three of the divers are from the Philippine Navy and the rest are South Korean volunteer divers. Diving operations were stopped on Tuesday after a German volunteer diver, Danny Brumbach, 31, suffered decompression sickness after making a very rapid ascent. Brumbach has since recovered. Close to 600 divers from government agencies and civilian groups took part in massive search for the missing plane. Strong currents and poor visibility often hampered the divers. Retrieval work at a depth of 100 meters requires specialized equipment such as trimix, a combination of oxygen, nitrogen and helium. Trimix enables divers to stay longer in deep water and minimizes the risk of decompression sickness (DCS) or bends. Bends is caused by the formation of nitrogen bubbles form in a divers bloodstream because of severe pressure underwater. Open water and advance divers normally limit their activity on depths of 150 feet where they stay for less than 10 minutes using ordinary compressed air. @ThePinoyInsider

The Philippine project has now become a global model in development and is adopted by other developing countries to alleviate poverty. Tony Olaes, Creative Director and President of ODM Arts, in his acceptance speech at the event, announced that he will send his personal check and donation of One Million Pesos on behalf of the project and the other 99 honorees to the children of Bantay Bata 163. In his latest communications, Olaes said that it was shocking that Bantay Bata rejected the funds and for him to in turn send one right back to them. He said he chose to do that because he felt it was the right thing to do for the children who were meant to be served - there was no either or. At the end, everyone won except for the perpetrators. Its a shocker that can rival the dizzying plot twists in the soap operas she stars in. In the same week that the country observed the 40th day of the passing of Comedy King Dolphy (real name: Rodolfo V. Quizon), his longtime partner, singer-actress Zsa Zsa Padilla, was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Padilla herself posted the sad news on her Facebook page over the weekend: She is suffering from stage one kidney cancer. Epy Quizon, Dolphys son from a previous relationship, told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that he and his siblings were praying for Padilla. She has all our support. She has always been there for our family. This time, we will be here for her. We consider her the mother of the entire Quizon clan. The sad news hit them hard, said Epy. We had barely recovered and this happened so soon after the hospitalization and death of my dad. Our hope is that Zsa Zsa gets better soon. Quizon recalled that Padilla had remained by the late comedians side throughout his long battle with chronic pulmonary obstructive disease (COPD) and had never left his dads side until his death last month. Quizon said the 4th Pidol Golf Cup, held yesterday at the Eastridge Golf Course in Binangonan, Rizal, was dedicated to Zsa Zsas quick recovery. We offered a prayer for her. The family is behind her in this time of trial, he added. In her Facebook page, Padilla wrote: When life situations get rough, I find myself taking deep breaths. And I am ready to take on new challenges. Living life one day at a time. Padilla is currently in the United States, accompanied by daughter Zia Quizon and friend Vicki Belo, for a series of medical tests. After the diagnosis, Padillas doctors scheduled her to undergo a medical procedure on August 27, according to her Facebook page. Before she left for the US, Padilla had told the media that a growth the size of a ping-pong ball was found in her kidneys. Although the news was devastating, she said she had come to accept it. She told the press: I cant question God and ask: Why me? Why cant it happen to me nga naman? Friends from the entertainment industry have rallied to Padillas side, showering her with good wishes. Labing-apat na taon na ngayong nagsasama sina Zoren Legaspi at Carmina Villaroel at nabiyayaan na rin sila ng dalawang anak. Hindi pa kasal sina Zoren at Carmina pero noong nakaraang Mahal na Araw ay magpopropose na dapat ng kasal ang aktor nang magbakasyon ang kanilang pamilya sa bansang Japan. Ayon kay Zoren ay naudlot ang kanyang planong ito dahil sa ilang mga bagay. Kinuntsaba ko na yung kambal, yung time na naisip ko yon, it was too late for me to buy a ring. If Muhammad Ali floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee, I should say that Da King, Fernando Poe Jr., walked like a kitten off screen and roared like a lion on screen. Thats one of the things I remember most about Ronnie, his widow Susan Roces once told Funfare. His footsteps were so quiet that, if you were not looking, you felt his presence only when he was already behind or beside you. FPJ, who would have turned 73 today (he was a Leo), reminded me of Harrison Ford whose footsteps at the lobby of Four Seasons in Maui, Hawaii, were inaudible; so soft-spoken that when he talked it was almost in a whisper. It so happens that theyre both superstars. Last Thursday, Aug. 16, Da King was finally belatedly conferred a National Artist Award by Pres. Noynoy Aquino at the Malacaang Palace, received by Susan and daughter MTRCB chief Grace Poe-Llamanzares. The long wait is worth it, said Susan, because it comes from a President duly elected by the people. Da King must have been widely smiling from Up There. The Poe family refused the award when it was given in 2006 by then Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo whom Susan accused of stealing the presidency not once but twice, first from former Pres. Joseph Estrada and then from FPJ. This time, added Susan, wala itong halong pulitika. Best remembered for his screen personas Totoy Bato (the tough boxer) and Panday, Da King was down-to-earth and downright romantic. As a gesture of reconciliation after a lovers quarrel with Susan, he welcomed Susan (who came back from the States where she cooled off) by filling up their sala with flowers and asking Rico J. Puno to serenade her. True to form, Da King was a man of few words (as an Action King should be). But in one rare Funfare interview barely a year before he died in December 2004, he unloosed his tongue like he never did before and casually bared his heart. Some quotable quotes from that memorable interview. The first time I cried really hard was when my brother Andy (the real Fernando Poe Jr.; Da King was Ronald Allan Poe) died in 1995 because it was so sudden. It took me some time to get over his death. Ive never been really angry, hindi yung sukdulan. When I get angry, after a while I cool down na. Madaling mawala ang galit ko. How would people know that Im angry? When Im silent; kapag tumatahimik na ako. The day will come when we will all go, na magkakahiwa-hiwalay tayo, when we will all pass away. I pray that my family and I will be together again somewhere else. I think thats what most everybody is praying for for the grand family reunion elsewhere. My most embarrassing moment?

On February 19, 2012 and May 26, 2012, respectively, two males of Filipino descent committed driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI) as first offenders in Glendale, California. The Mercedez Benz of the first Filipino driver was subjected to enforcement stop by the Glendale Police Department for swerving within its lane. The Honda of the second Filipino driver entered a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint in the City of Glendale, conducted near the intersection of Brand Boulevard and Vassar Street, by the City of Los Angeles Police Department Emergency Operations Division, assisting the City of Glendale Police Department. Both Filipino drivers exhibited odor of alcohol, red, watery eyes, and slow, slurred speech. They did not pass a series of Site Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs). Arrest And Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC): Based on the observations of the police officers and the results of the SFSTs, both Filipino drivers were arrested for violation of Vehicle Code Section 23152(a) driving under the influence of alcohol. Both were also read the chemical admonision, and both provided breath samples. The first Filipino driver had a BAC of .13/.13. and the second had BAC of .16/.16. The first also had his blood sample taken at Glendale Memorial Hospital, which showed BAC of .13. A BAC of .15 or above results in enhancement of the alcohol treatment program from AB 541 First Offender of three (3) months to AB 762 First Offender of six (6) months. Plea Bargaining, Waiver Of Constitution Rights, And Sentencing: This Author represents both Filipino drivers each accused of two counts of misdemeanor: Count 1 in violation of Vehicle Code Section 23152(a) on driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and Count 2 in violation of Vehicle Code Section 23152 (b) on driving while having a 0.08% or higher blood alcohol. On July 26, 2012, this Author plea bargained the case of the second Filipino driver with Deputy District Attorney of the LA County, Sam Abourched, prepared the advisement and waiver of rights and plea form for DUI First Offender, and asked Com. Nori Anne Walla of Department 1 to sentence the defendant. DUI Sentence For Both Drivers: Accordingly, the second Filipino driver was sentenced to: suspension of sentence, one day credit, thirty-six months of summary probation, fine of $ 390 plus penalties and assessments, and enhanced alcohol treatment program for six months (AB 762 First Offender, $ 683.00 enrollment fee). On July 27, 2012, this Author likewise plea bargained the case of the first Filipino driver with Deputy District Attorney of LA County, Elizabeth Karb, prepared the advisement and waiver of rights and plea form for DUI first offender, and asked Com William V. McTaggart of Department 2 to sentence the defendant. Likewise, the first Filipino driver was sentenced, to: suspension of sentence, thirty-six months of summary probation, one day credit, fine of $390 plus penalties and assessment ($1,757.00 total) and regular alcohol treatment program for three months (AB 541 First Offender, $473.00 enrollment fee). Both Filipino drivers were given six months by the Commissioners to complete their alcohol treatment programs and fully pay their fines, penalties, and assessments. Dont drink and drive!

After Guni-Guni, the most anticipated is Tiktik, Aswang Chronicles where I play a pregnant wife hounded by a group of hungry aswangs. My first movie was horror, Shake, Rattle & Roll. We were a family haunted by a Christmas Tree. What was the first horror movie that youve seen? I think it was The Exorcist. I couldnt sleep for weeks after watching it. The image of Linda Blairs possessed Regan haunted me. I was six years old then. After that, I saw Frankenstein and the same thing happened. Sleepless in my bedroom! Favorite horror film? It happened a long time ago at the Aristocrat Restaurant. May ka-date ako (not identified). I was short of money. The waiter came to my rescue; he helped me with the bill. I went back soon after to pay him back. The first toy I ever played with was Teks. That was the craze at that time among kids. Ang pamato ko noon si Phantom. As an adult, kami ni Susan used to play Pacman, the video game. We also solve crossword puzzles and play Monopoly or Scrabble. When he declared his candidacy in the 2004 Presidential elections. Best lesson I learned from my dad (Fernando Poe Sr.): Never be a quitter. My mom (Bessie Kelly Poe) was a peaceful woman, very gentle and very artistic. She love(s); yes, she love(s). She taught us how to love. She always reminded us siblings to be sincere. Susan and I are early risers. Were up at 4:30 or 5:30 a.m., earlier than the sun. After brushing my teeth and washing my face, I would linger in bed with Susan. We just talk and exchange stories. Kuwentokuwento lang kami ni Susan. Or we read the papers together in bed. And then we have coffee together. She tells me kung ano ang lakad niya for the day and I tell her kung ano ang lakad ko. The last thing I do before I go to sleep? I pray. Asked how he wanted to be remembered, Da King broke into a shy smile. I want to be remembered simply as a man who held no grudge against anybody and, hopefully, against whom nobody held any grudge.

EMPRESS Schuck is now tagged by some writers as Empress of Horror since shell be seen in two horror films that will be shown in quick succession. Regals Guni-Guni opens today in theatres while next week, its Amorosa: The Revenge from Skylight Films. How does she feel about being called Empress of Horror? Okay lang. Si Kris Aquino daw ang Queen of Horror, si Lovi Poe ang Princess, so Empress naman ako since its my real name, she laughs. But Im glad magkaiba ang roles ko in these two movies. In GuniGuni, Im a nursing student with a third eye at nakikita ko yung bad spirit who disturbs Lovi, na kanya palang dead twin sister. The film is also about abortion and theres a second ghost in the movie, that of an aborted child na binaon sa garden ng bahay where Lovi lives. In Amorosa naman, Im a rape and murder victim at ako yung nagmumulto sa pension house na tinitirhan nina Angel Aquino and her sons Martin del Rosario and Enrique Gil. So, sa first one, nakakakita ako ng multo, but sa second one, ako na yung multo.

They were called by Asian Academy of Television Arts Principal Wilma Galvante to her office to remind them of the need to connect with the audience. Even if Chris is out, his studies at the AATA will continue to train him in becoming a professional actor. The 16 students also got to meet TV5 boss Manny Pangilinan in person. Hes so pleased with them and promised all of them a free trip to Hong Kong next month.

MANILA, Philippines- Kapuso actor Alden Richards is so hot these days that some of his fans just cant help themselves from touching him when they see him---even in parts that are supposed to be off limits. In an exclusive interview with Bulletin Entertainment, Richards recounted a recent out of town trip in line with the promotions of top GMA-7 series One True Love. At one point, the security personnel who were escorting him towards a waiting vehicle got overwhelmed by the mob, some of whom, from overexcitement, ended up pinching and slapping the actor. When asked about her relationship with Mother after airing her complaint, Lovi said, Were good, actually, Okay naman. I will see her tonight. Years after their bitter separation in 2003, Melendez and Yllana have managed to become good friends, owing in part to their mature disposition. On Saturday, August 18th, 2012 at the Glendale Auditorium in Glendale, CA, the first-ever Queen Lola Pageant crown was awarded to Mrs. Maria Bernardita Bernie TargaGanon. After a long awaited 3 months by the many lolas who applied and participated in this unique event, Bernie, as she is called, won the hearts of the judges and the many in attendance. The night was hosted by Bernardo Bernardo, Fe De Los Reyes, and Jannelle So, and was highlighted by performances from acclaimed pop-operatic tenor Jonathan Badon, singing quartet Classic Harmony, and musical performances by hosts Bernardo and Fe. The evening also featured a highly-anticipated performance by veteran performer Eddie Mesa, dubbed the Elvis Presley of the Philippines.The 12 lovely candidates opened the night with a performance backed by the Lady Gaga tune Born This Way, wearing customized shrugs from acclaimed Hollywood designer and lead judge for the pageant, Alexis Monsanto. As the evening wore on, the audience was treated to another production number, featuring the lolas in neoncolored workout gear, dancing and moving to Olivia Newton Johns song, Lets Get Physical. Fe De Los Reyes treated the audience to her rendition of the classic, Whatever Lola Wants, Lola Gets, and comedic version of Lionel Richies Hello that had the audience laughing hysterically. There was musical entertainment throughout that kept the evening moving along up to the very end. Aside from the entertainment, the pageant itself was truly a spectacular and touching tribute to the important role of lolas in Filipino culture. Lolas promenaded in their beautiful cocktail gowns, then later on changed to their evening gowns for the evening gown competition. The candidates introduced themselves, gave a brief summary of their backgrounds and life stories, including an explanation of their definitions of a modern lola.
Special awards were also handed out, including Ms. Popularity (based on community support) and Ms. Sunshine (most photogenic candidate, as voted on by the press) being awarded to Miss Edith Knoch, Best in Talent to Ms. Jovita Alejandrina and Ms. Perseverance to Ms. Del Atillano (as voted by the organizers), and Miss Friendship being awarded to Miss Aleli Abrigo-Neal (as voted on by the candidates themselves). As the night came to a conclusion, the judges chose the candidate with the Best in Evening Wear , the four runners up, and the nights top prize, the Queen Lola. Ms. Rosalinda Nery was awarded Best in Evening Wear, 4thRunner Up was awarded to Ms. Daisy Alonzo., 3rd Runner Up was awarded to Miss Aleli Abrigo Neal, 2nd Runner Up was awarded to Ms. Edith Knoch and 1st Runner Up was awarded to Ms. Rosalinda Nery. Sure ako na as usual, mataas ang rating kahapon ng Eat Bulaga dahil tinutukan ng buong bansa ang kanilang non-stop show. Parang nanonood ng isang concert ang lahat dahil tuluy-tuloy at walang TV ads na ipinalabas ang Eat Bulaga. Special guest si Marian Rivera sa Eat Bulaga. Kahit anong busy ni Marian, isang phone call lang mula sa TAPE, Inc. ay sisipot siya dahil malaki ang utang na loob niya kay Mr. Tony Tuviera, ang big boss ng TAPE, Inc. MANILA, Philippines Actress Angelica Panganiban has promised that the public would soon see the return of her old, more forthcoming self. Panganiban, who is known for her candor and honesty with the media, has noticeably turned evasive recently, particularly on her love life following her recent breakup with longtime beau Derek Ramsay. Despite keeping mum about the cause of their split, Panganiban continued to hog the spotlight with rumors that shes purportedly getting cozy with Kapamilya leading man John Lloyd Cruz. In a recent media conference for Pantene, the actress subtly asked the press for some measure of privacy for now as to whator who, for that matterhas been making her happy lately. Eto na lang. Q: How do you keep yourself lookin fab on TV?
A: Physically, I run at least once a week, about 3 miles, usually Saturday mornings. And I do a mix of yoga, Barre and dance classes on weekdays. I try to hit the gym 2-3 times during the week. I know its not enough, but its so difficult to squeeze it in a busy schedule like my 12-more hour days. I dont diet but I limit what I eat. I used to crave sweets and my meal wasnt complete without desserts. But I gave it up for Lent last year and after 40 days of living without, I found that I didnt crave it anymore. Also, I only eat when Im hungry and only eat enough. I try to snack healthy, too. TV really does add a few pounds; so
A: I was a geek. I was the student who turned in a 20-page report when the teacher only asked for 15. I was the geek who would spend lunch periods in the library... but it was also because I was bullied in high school. I dont tell this story much. But I think people will pick up a thing or two. I was bullied in high school; starting my sophomore year until graduation. I never figured out if I was being bullied because I was a geek or I was a geek because I was being bullied. No prom for me. I did not go. The schoolmate that started it approached me on graduation day and tearfully apologized for what she did. I forgave right there and then... but it really scarred me. No child should ever go through something like that. But at the same time, parents should be responsible too. Related to this, it is a good thing to admit a wrongdoing and apologize. Its liberating. And its also good for our souls to accept an apology. Life is too short to hold grudges against people. And our journey here on Earth is already wearisome. Traveling light, without bitterness and other negative feelings toward others, enables us to walk happier, be more joyful. And the better we feel inside, the better we look outside :)
Q: any personal Q: What advice can struggle/inspiration you give to girls? that you overcame? A: Cultivate and nurture family
A: Life will never run out of trials. And as human beings, we only have 2 choices, really - resist or deal. There are lots of quotes about this, too - learning from mistakes, turning our wounds into wisdom, and so on. But in my experience, only GOD delivers. And when you are anchored in faith, all obstacles seem easier to overcome, knowing that we get help from above who knows all and sees all and plans all. It is much easier to surrender than fight. I went to Korea early this year for Korean Travel Organization and visited the small town of Naju where a certain Sister Julia Kim speaks of miracles and apparitions. I interviewed her and one of my biggest take aways from that conversation was her advice for spiritual cleansing as we do our normal daily routine: As we take off make up at night and/or take a shower, we pray to God to take away inner impurities in ourselves, especially from our hearts. As we put on make up in the morning, lipstick, we pray that God guides our speech so we may only speak that which is beautiful and positive. As we put make up on our eyes, we pray that He opens our eyes to the things we can do here to help build His kingdom, things we can do to help others.

This comes after Rama tried to hit Alcid using a cane during the wake of Comedy King Dolphy at the Heritage Park in Taguig last July 13. Alcid, along with lawyer Lorna Kapunan, charged Rama of grave coercion, slander and attempted murder.
