Abstract
To cast your horoscope all you need to know is your date, time and place of birth. These facts are enough to print out your horoscope or the Vedic Astrology Chart anywhere in the world. Numerous software for this purpose is freely available on the internet. Printing out your horoscope is one of the easiest things that you can do. Understanding the contents of a horoscope seems to be next to impossible. Only until you have read this knol. Here is a step by step guide designed to make the seemingly difficult task the easiest. It is fun too. After all it is your life.
S T E P 1 : P R AY E R

Let us begin the study of Astrology after considering the fact that other sciences are incapable of giving an explanation as to why certain things happen to us during certain times. Why we are unhappy and why are we at times joyful. Why do we get into certain situations at certain times. The study of happiness and unhappiness in human life using the position of planets at birth time is called Astrology. The study of Astrology helps us understand why we are not born equal. Some of us are born in rich family and some of us are born in such family that bring about great suffering to us. Either we are born with great advantages or we are handicapped from birth,

This science of Astrology is difficult to grasp because it deals with human beings who are the most complex and unpredictable beings on earth. So without the grace of God and grace of all Masters or Gurus (and all the Teachers who gave you knowledge) it is very difficult to understand the complex nature of life. In India most people pray to Lord Ganesha who is a particular form of GOD who represents the removal of all obstacles on the path of the seeker. If you belong to any other belief system you can pray to your favorite God or teacher. When an Astrologer prays and begins his work it does not mean that Astrology is connected to a religion. A doctor may also begin his work after a prayer to his God. We see many of the sportsmen praying to God. Does this mean that medicine, sports etc are connected to a religion? So Astrology is just like anyother science and you can understand many things from Astrology even if you are an atheist. If you believe in rebirth you have the potential to become an Astrologer, all you need to do is hone your skills because Astrology is based on the fact that human beings are reborn on the basis of past actions collectively called as Karma. In prayer what is important is the fact that you have recognized a superior power.
STEP 2: THE BASIC INPUTS (CICO = CORRECT INPUT, CORRECT OUTPUT)

Astrologer E K Dhilip Kumar Teaching Astrology All computer programmers know the term Garbage in, Garbage out. They use the acronym GIGO. Let us change it to CICO meaning correct input, correct output). Know the DTP of a person. To cast your horoscope you need to know only 3 facts about a person. Remember the 3 inputs by using this acronym DTP which means Date of Birth, Time of Birth and Place of Birth. This is all you need to cast the horoscope of any person born in this world. So every time someone says he wants his horoscope cast for the 1st time dont forget to ask him Do you know your DTP? Apart from this you need to know the name and gender of the person. The sex of the person should be known because pregnancy, menstruation, childbirth, menopause, uterus etc applies only to

women. In certain calculations like Beeja Sphuta (Sperm Point) or Kshetra Sphuta (Egg Point) we need to know the gender. In the late 1970s when Astrology software made a beginning, most people had less faith in computer horoscopes. People in India attach special sentiments to their horoscope called the Janma Patrika because it was done by their family Astrologer who resembled a yogi or a saint. Slowly all that has changed over these years. Today even the traditional Indian Astrologers use computer software to cast the horoscope. Moreover many of the modern Astrologers look like people working in the MNCs. 3 good reasons to use a computer horoscope is that 1. it is defintely more accurate. A computer horoscope may go wrong only if you have made some mistakes while entering the DTP i.e. the date, or time or place of birth. The 2nd reason is that an Astrologer need not waste precious time for doing something that a machine can. Reason 3 is that birth time rectification and research into the validity of the correct time of birth is so easy with a computer. If you do this by hand it may take many days to do it. Importance of the place of birth: Usually the date and time of birth is easy to enter in case you use a computer a generate a horoscope. However you need to be more attentive when it comes to place of birth because the computer operator may be using the wrong latitude and longitude of the place of birth. In outdated computer software you may be asked to manually enter the latitude and longitude of the place of birth. For example, there are 3 Patna in India there are many Madras and Salem in the world. You need to get the place right. Also you need to be aware of the various time zones of the world and get used to terms like daylight saving, war time correction etc. Today there are many websites that help you sort out these issues. Remember before you know all these things well enough do not rush to buy a computer software for casting horoscopes. The other reason why an Astrologer should use a computer for casting horoscope is that Astrologers need not waste precious time in doing things that a machine can easily do. The computer software obviously cannot think, listen and react like human beings. So casting a horoscope is best done by a computer and reading it is best done by an Astrologer. Do you qualify to study Astrology? The Astrologer should be intelligent, compassionate, know what is happening in the world, know a great deal of Indian philosophy especially that part which deals with rebirth, should be able to combine Astrological knowledge with practical wisdom. Above all he must be aware that he is dealing with the emotions of a human being the most fragile thing in the world. The problem of Ayanamsa The next thing you need to make sure is that they have used the right Ayanamsa. Most scientific Astrologers in the world use what is called Chitra Paksha Ayanamsa (Lahiri Ayanamsha) which is closest to the truth as far as Ayanamsas are concerned. I have used it and found it better than other Ayanamsha. Avoid getting into disputes on which is the correct Ayanamsa unless you have a great deal of time to be wasted away in useless discussions. Many Astrologers in the world waste time in argument about who is right instead of proving that he or she is right. So let us conclude on

this topic by saying that it is sufficient if you know that most Astrologers in the world use Chitra Paksha Ayanamsa also known as Lahiri Ayanamsa. You are the 1st case study Rarely does a doctor get to treat himself as the 1st patient. A civil engineer never would build his own home as his 1st project. Astrology is the only science that begins with you. You usually get into Astrology because you need to know about yourself because this job no one else can do better than you. Which is why I am trying to teach you Astrology. Get your horoscope spiral bound so that you can easily turn the pages around. Loose papers make it that much more difficult because they keep flying off and the pages get mixed up. Add extra papers before binding so that you can write down your observation and feedback about the horoscope later on. Once you have prepared your own horoscope you should cast the horoscopes of your family members so that you may start comparing them and such a study will convince you that Astrology explains why children born to the same father and mother are so different from each other. After spiral binding the horoscope book the first thing that needs to be written on any horoscope is the name of the person for whom you have cast the horoscope. You need to do this because sooner or later you are going to have a large collection of horoscopes with you. Thats because Astrology is very interesting and like all interesting things in life it is addictive. A healthy hobby that helps you know more about your current life on planet earth. Now everything is in place. What next? Look a the main chart in the horoscope. What are all the symbols in your horoscope trying to communicate to you? The more you look into it the more you see. Seeing is believing. You need to decipher what I love to call The Plan of the Planets.
STEP 3 LOOK AT YOUR OWN HOROSCOPE

To help you look at your own horoscope we have created a website: www.astrodrona.com on this website we allow you to create your horoscope, store it permanently for your later reference, find friends having similar horoscopes, share knowledge of Astrology, seek help from others who know astrology and much more. If you are living in India, you can even get daily personalized Astrology SMS on your Mobile phone 6 am in the morning. Check it out.

Turn to the page in which your basic horoscope is printed. Usually there are many charts but this is the main chart. It is the REAL horoscope. All other charts are only derived from this diagram. When there are many charts printed usually this chart is bigger than the other charts and is also printed first. That means you will find it within the 1st 3 pages. In this all important map of the heavens search for the word ASC or LAGNA (Ascendant). This is house no.1. In many horoscope you may see this house marked with a diagonal line like the one that you see on the diagram on the left side. The diagonal line tells you where the most important reference point is. The above horoscope belongs to Lord Sri Ram the 7th Avatar of Lord MahaVishnu. This is a standard horoscope. Many Astrologers who teach astrology begin the class by showing this chart for more than 1 reason. One it belongs to a great King, a great Avatar, a great human being and so on. 2 you can keep talking about it for days together and know everything about Lord Sri Rama without even reading Ramayana if you were to read the horoscope without knowing whose horoscope this is. The classical books of Astrology may teach you a lot but this one horoscope speaks volumes. For example having Mars in the 7th house when Mars is exalted makes a person a great and invincible warrior. Lord Rama destroyed Ravana who was a terror and undefeated until he met Lord Rama in the battle field. Mars in the 7th house is not good for marriage. He had many problems to solve with regard to Sita His wife. Saturn in the 4th house exalted shows mass attraction and kingly powers. 5 planets are in a state of exaltation (at its best place). Moon is in own house. Venus in the 9th house and that too exalted is a powerful Lakshmi Yoga (Goddess of Wealth). The Goddess was His wife. Ketu in the 12th house usually means Moksha (Salvation). Moon and Jupiter in Lagna forms a powerful Gaja Kesari Yoga a terror to enemies, intelligent, wise, good conduct, always behaving with great responsibility, setting an example for mankind. If you change the time of birth by just 2 hours less or 2 hours more the entire horoscope change. Every 2 hours the Lagna (Ascendant) moves to the next Zodiac sign: There are 12 zodiac signs (Rasi) in your horoscope. They are:

1. Mesha (Aries) 2. Vrishabha (Taurus) 3. Mithuna (Gemini) 4. Karkataka (Cancer) 5. Simha (Leo) 6. Kanya (Virgo) 7. Thula (Libra) 8. Vrischika (Scorpio) 9. Dhanus (Sagittarius) 10. Makara (Capcricorn) 11. Kumbha (Aquarius) 12. Meena (Pisces) The Ascendant in your horoscope may be in any of the above 12 signs. There are 24 hours in a day. So 1 sign is for 2 hours. Touch the square that contains the word ASC or LAGNA. Know that if you were born 2 hours earlier the lagna (Ascendant) will be in the sign that is previous to your Ascendant. Every 2 hours the Ascendant moves forward by 1 sign. If you were born 2 hours later you would have had your Lagna in the next sign. If you were born during the 1st 2 hours from sunrise, your Ascendant is most likely to have Sun in the Ascendant. After 2 hours the Ascendant will be in the next sign after the sign that contains the Sun so the Sun will be in the 12th house from the Ascendant. In Astrology the next sign or next house is always to known by moving in clockwise direction,

If your spouse has the Sun in the 1st house then he or she was born around Sunrise time. If anyone has the Sun in the 10th house that person was born close to the Noon plus or minus 1 hour from Noon. If you have the Sun in the 7th house you were born around Sunset time. If your friend has the Sun in the 4th house then he or she was born during midnight.

So by now you may have guessed that the angle between the Sun and the Lagna is directly related to the time of birth of a person. Another way of looking at this is consider Lagna as East. What is on the East at Sunrise? Of course the mighty SUN. So Sun and Lagna will be together at Sunrise. If you know which sign is occupied at Sunrise, you can tell the Lagna. 7th house is West. What is in the west at Sunset time. Of course the Sun. So Sun in the 7th house means the person is born at Sunset time.

What you see in the example horoscope is prepared in the South Indian format. Of the various formats available today this one is the easiest to understand. If you try with other formats you may perhaps give up Astrology as other formats are very confusing and difficult to grasp. Before proceeding note down the position of each planet in your horoscope. The Lagna or Ascendant is always house no.1. Count clockwise from 2 to 12. Fill out the following on a piece of paper: My Sun is in house No. .. My Moon is in house No ..

My Mars is in house No. My Mercury is in house No.. My Jupiter is in house No. My Venus is in house No My Saturn is in house No My Rahu is in house No. My Ketu is in house No Ask anyone if they too have all the about in the same house as yours. If you find one then it is your twin brother or sister. Otherwise you are never going to see one that is same as your horoscope. Compare this with Sun signs. How many people have you met with the same sun sign as yours. Compare this with Moon sign as well. So you will understand that the Sun Sign or Moon sign does not make you unique. What makes you unique is your complete horoscope with the Ascendant.

There are 9 grahas (wrongly referred as Planets by Astrologers)

Sun and Moon are not. Rahu and Ketu are mathematical points or shall we say shadow points in the sky. What is the proof that Rahu and Ketu are real? If Sun or Moon enters that shadow we get what is called the ECLIPSE. So in any horoscope if you see Rahu and Ketu on the same axis as that of Sun and Moon then the person was born during eclipse time or close to it. The 9 Grahas or heavenly bodies that you see in every horoscope: 1. Sun (Sunday) 2. Moon (Monday) 3. Mars (Tuesday) 4. Mercury (Wednesday) 5. Jupiter (Thursday) 6. Venus (Friday) 7. Saturn (Saturday) 8. Rahu 9. Ketu The gap between the 7 and 8 is intentional. The reason is that the 7 names pertain to the weekdays as well starting from Sunday and ending with Saturday. So everyone in the world knows the 1st 7 planets because they use the weekdays all through their life. There are 12 houses in your horoscope. Remember this as equal to 12 months of a year. So the chess game (battle) of all human beings will be played on the horoscope board with 9 pieces and 12 squares. The permutation and combination possible is 12 x 11 x 10 x 9 x 8 x 7 x 6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1 = a staggering number which means no 2 human beings will have exactly the same horoscope. So your own horoscope is as unique as your fingerprint.

First find out which house each of the 9 planets occupy. Memorize them. Because this is your life. Let me demonstrate the power of planets: If SUN occupies the house that also has the ASC or LAG it means SUN is the 1st house in your horoscope. If that be the case you will surely have the following experience:

Sun is a hot graha. Lagna is the rising sign. So Sun in Lagna give the person all the influence that you expect a hot graha to do. Sun in the 1st house: A hot body always warm and above normal temperature. Prone to eye problems severe retina problem mostly Always prone to anger Super Ego personality Sun is central to the solar system. A person who is central usually has more ego than others except if He is a spiritually evolved person. If you see the Sun directly you will have temporary blindness. So Sun in Lagna can lead to severe eye problems and mostly may cause a person to become blind or born blind etc. If you walk in the hot sun especially in places closer to the equator, you will surely not be a in good mood. You are most likely to do a lot of complaining. This is what you will do when Sun is in the 1st house. You need to know more about a planet if you have to say something about that planet. If you shake hands with a person and you feel that his hands are unusually warm then surely the SUN in his horoscope occupies the 1st house. So you can tell him were you born within the 1st 2 hours from Sunrise? and 99% of the times you will get an yes for an answer. Or Sun may be in the 7th house and looking strongly on the 1st house. Both these conditions will make a person warmer. There are 12 houses and 9 planets in Indian Astrology. Do not read or encourage any author in Astrology who says there is a 13th house or there is the 10th planet. Enough is enough.

Do not waste your time with other planets URANUS, NEPTUNE. In any case Pluto was expelled. They have no role to play in our Karma. Moreover there are enough grahas in the horoscope. The ancient Astrology books of India did not use the position of Uranus, Neptune or Pluto. That is because the Karma of all human beings is run only by the 9 grahas. Step 3 What each house means?

Coming back to the 12 houses, note that there are houses numbered from 1 to 12. The 1st one is where the word Lagna or Ascendant or Asc or Lag is. Mark the remaining houses as 2 to 12 in a clockwise direction. When you reach 12 the next house is obviously the 1st house or where the ASC is. Each house deals with a group of activities or aspects of your life. The list of matters that pertain to any house is indeed quite long as you will soon come to know. But thank GOD we are now going to discuss only the most important aspect of each house. Once you know the keywords that relate to each house the rest you will know automatically if you start applying your mind on it. Each house has a keyword with which you can understand the house. 1st - Your body and everything that is associated with it. 2nd - Your possessions or those that you are possessive about wealth, family, face.. 3rd - The help you receive your brothers, your arms, voice, ears, anything that helps you 4th - Your comforts vehicles, home, your mother (comfort zone) 5th - Your create virtues, children, poetry, romance, sports, entertainment 6th - Your opponentsdiseases, debts and enemies 7th - the other person, your spouse, your partner, the player on the other side 8th - Your battles of your life, longevity (trying to save your life) 9th - Your fortunes you have in this life, father, education, master, guidance, God, religion 10th purpose of your life 11th - Your desires 12th - Your loss Remember that though there are 12 houses it is actually 3 sets of 4 houses each. The 1st house, 5th house and the 9th house deal with almost the same thing. The 2nd house, the 6th house and the 10th house deals with almost the same thing. I hope you got the point. These are called Trinal houses.

House No.1 The 1st house represents your body and everything that is done by your body. Since this house deals with the most precious thing in the world your body it goes without saying that this is surely the most important house amongst the 12 houses. This house is directly related to your time of birth that makes your horoscope special (or unique). Obviously planets (graha) that occupy the 1st house has a great role to play because that planet is also rising with your Lagna. If Jupiter is in the 1st house it means the Jupiter in you is rising. That means you will be a natural teacher, guide, consultant and Guru. House No.2

The 2nd house represents what happens after taking birth (1st house). As soon as you are born your 1st intention and perhaps the last one is to possess everything. This possessiveness is very evident in children as they will rarely part with their toys. The habit continues for a life time. Villains in comics and movies always say I will rule this world. The 2nd house is the house of wealth and possession. I want to make everything mine. So the 2nd house is also the house of family and all that we are possessive about. Usually a man is very possessive about his wife and children more than anything else. Also he will not easily part with this money. We earn through our speech and hence speech is related to the 2nd house. If hot planets occupy the 2nd house hot and angry words flow out from the person quite often. The 2nd house is the house of vision (eyes). Good eyes and a good speech are essential for earning your livelihood. The politicians speak a lot and that is where the maximum money with least effort is often seen. Disclaimer: There are exceptions to this rule as there are good politicians who speak a lot. House No.3

We cannot do much with what we possess unless we have all the supports in place. We need help and assitance from various people. In the first part of our life we need to be helped by our siblings (brothers and sisters) in case there is a fight with your neighbors or other intruders. As you grow up you need servants, driver, maid, and a dog at home to assist you in safeguarding what you have

earned and possessed. The 3rd house is the house of assistance. No businessman can do well without the Employee Luck. Examine the horoscope of a rich businessman and you will surely see that his 3rd house is beneficial and strong. If the 3rd house lord is in the 6th house your brothers or sisters are likely to be of no use to you or may even give you lot of trouble and anxieties. The 6th house is the house of enemies. So your sibling may become your rival. The 3rd house is the house of communication. It rules your hands, your neck, ear, nose, throat. If the 3rd house lord is in the house of profession then you may be a great TV show performer or a journalist, or very good with electronics and communications. House No.4

This house deals with comforts. The 1st most important comfort zone for all that is born is the Mother the 1st home. Vehicles are important aspects of our life without which our life will be less comfortable. Other things that is related to this house is the home appliances that we use to enjoy more comforts like the air conditioner, air conditioner, washing machine. A person with a strong and beneficial 4th house will enjoy all the comforts. This is the house of resting. Actually there are only 4 houses. This 4 houses are repeated 3 times making it as 12 houses. So the 4th house is the last of the 1st set of 4 houses. Hence it the house of resting. House No.5

This house deals with what you create. The bestseller of all things that each one of us may create are our children. So the 5th house primarily means what you create. The inability to produce children is considered as a great karmic defect. This shows up as a fault in the horoscope referred as Putra Dosha. All faults can be rectified. If you become an Astrologer later on and if you identify a putradosha in a horoscope do not forget to tell them is wonder remedy: Spondor an orphan child. If your client does that surely the dosha will be removed and there is a great chance of birth of children in this birth itself (in some cases the effects will be felt only in the next birth though). Entertainment,

Cinema, Sports, Games, luck in gambling, Drinking, Romance, Music, Arts, Architecture are all coming under this house. House No.6

This house deals with all those that oppose you. Disease and ailments oppose your health and body. Loans oppose your wealth. Enemies give you trouble all the time. In fact nothing affects us as much as the the matters of the 6th house. Of all the negative houses this one is the most challenging one. Planets placed in this house give unfavourable results during their ruling periods except planets like Rahu and Saturn. So if you have more planets in the 6th house more trouble in life is indicated. Saturn in the 6th house indicate victory over enemy but you still have the enemies. Luckier are the people who do not have enemies and therefore do not have to win at all. This combination shows a natural instinct to fight. If the 10th house lord is in the 6th house then you will surely have greater income through a foreign land. House No.7

This house deals with the other person. The reason is that the 1st house is you and the 7th house is bang opposite. 1st house is 0 degrees and 7th house is 180 degrees on the 360 degrees zodiac belt. The 7th house is in the opposite place on the horsocope. So if you are a man the 7th house deals with the woman in your life and vice versa. If the 7th house is beneficially placed meaning good planets occupy the 7th house or if the 7th house lord is well placed and under the glance of good planets then you will have a happy marriage. If the 7th house lord is in the 6th house then the person is prone to troubled marriage and this combination is often seen in cases of divorce or loss of money through court cases pertaining to marriage. The reason is 6th house means enemies and the 7th house means spouse, so if the 7th house lord is in the 6th house it means the spouse is your enemy. Of couse it does not mean that such a person is destined to have a troubled marriage. Horoscope matching techniques will surely help the keep divorce away.

House No.8

This house deals with surprises. May be good or bad. So success in gambling and inheritance that happens so suddenly are matters of the 8th house. Surgery is related to this house. During the ruling periods of planest placed in the 8th house a person may most probably have to be under the surgeons lights. Today surgery is a usually a savior. So there is nothing to worry about this. Battle in life is related to the 8th house. You may win or lose but there is a battle that you have to undergo. So matters of longevity are always related to the 8th house. It is called the Ayush Sthana or the house that deals with life span. For example Jupiter in the 8th house is known to extend your life despite surgery, though several surgeries are needed to extend life. In ancient times before surgery came in the extension of life came about through other ways especially the grace of the divine. So prayers are a must during the period of planets in the 8th house. House No.9

This house deals with protection Your first protection was your father. So all abouts ones father is to be known from this house. Your father is your first teacher and Guru. This house deals with the divine grace of God, religion, philosophy and knowledge. If this house is strong and good planets occupy this house the person rarely commits a crime. Even if he does, he repents soon and is prepared to face the consequences and rarely repeats the same crime. Also such a person will find good teachers in school and college. They will respect and obey parents and teachers. If Rahu occupies this house all this will be on the wrong side. House No.10

This house deals with your profession. From the profession flows everything else. After the 1st house the most important house is the 10th house. The 1st house is you, your body, mind and soul put together. Without it there is no life. So the 1st house is important. But the 10th house is the purpose of this life. If Venus occupies the 10th house for example the purpose of life will be related to entertainment, design, graphic, cinema, and creativity. If Mars occupies the 10th house the person will be in something that requires guts, energy, force, physical, daring deeds. So such a person may be a policeman, sportsman, a car racer, martial arts expert, or a marketing person armed with an MBA degree.

House No.11

This house deals with fulfillment of your desires. Whatever you desire is, it does not matter. So the 11th house means gain, money, your wish and everything related to your ambitions in life. More the planets in this house the better it gets. If the 4th house lord (related to property) occupies the 11th house your desires related to land and property will be fulfilled either in the planetary period of the 4th house lord or the during the dasha of a planet that is well related to the 4th house or its lord. Similarly if the 7th house lord (marriage) occupies the 11t house your desires related to the opposite sex will also be fulfilled. You will have a happy life. However if you desire more than 1 spouse then multiple marriages or affairs are also indicated. That is because the 11th house is the house of fulfillment of desires and if you desire the 7th house matters then you will have more of it. In India where the formula 1 man 1 woman is adopted in family life, the combination of the 7th house lord in the 11t house is considered as a defect. However if the 1st marriage fails and if the person wants to know Is there a 2nd marriage then this combination means Yes. There is a 2nd marriage waiting for you.

House No.12

This house deals with going away. If your money goes away it means that you are losing money. So the 12th house is the house of loss. When you go away to another nation or city leaving behind your kith and kin even that is some form of losing your people. Hence the 12th house also deals with going away to foreign countries. This house deals with going to jail or hospital. If many natural malefics occupy this house the person will travel to many foreign places (almost wandering). In India this combination from ancient times was considered negative. Today foreign countries are economically richer than India, we cannot consider it as a negative combination. But such people will not be very happy in a foreign land and they run the risk of heavy loss, imprisonment, high stress in a foreign land even though there is more wealth in foreign countries. So the effects of the planets is in someway fulfilled at all times. The politicians having malefics in the 12th house especially Saturn should avoid bribes and corruption as such planetary positions indicate imprisonment and loss of wealth, name and fame. This does not mean that others may do such things because in the next life they will be born with malefics in the 12th house so that in the next life they will be punished.

The Trines
Following are 4 sets of Trinal houses (They are called trines). They have 4 houses lying between them. So the distance between them are equal. 1, 5 and 9 form the 1st group called the beginings group (Dharma) 2, 6 and 10 form the next group called the wealth group (Artha) 3, 7 and 11 form the next group called the desire group (Kama) 4, 8 and 12 form the last group called the endings group (Moksha or Salvation) Step 4 Every box you see in your horoscope has a name. Imagine that is a space in the sky and it has been assigned a name. Each sign is 1/12th of the sky and because the sky is 360 degrees, each sign is 30 degrees. the 1st 30 degrees is called Aries, the 2nd 30 degrees is called Taurus. Aries is the 1st zodiac sign. Sun enter this Sign every year during Mid-April marking the beginning of Spring. The nature springs back to action. English Names of the 12 Signs

Sanskrit Names of the 12 signs - standard names used in all other languages of India.

Now that you know the names of each sign in your horoscope, you should know which planet rules each of the 12 houses in your horoscope. Imagine the 12 signs to be 12 pieces of land arranged in a circular manner. Every piece of land on Earth has an owner i.e. is owned by someone. It does not matter whether the owner is occupying the land or not yet it belongs to that person. If a piece of land is empty it does not mean that it has no owner. Similarly each of the 12 signs is owned by a graha (also referred as planets). There are 9 grahas but 12 houses. Therefore surely at least 3 houses will be empty for all of us. If more planets occupy the same house there will be many houses that are empty.

The Lord of the Rings The real ones in your life:

The following diagram lets you know the lords of each sign. This is applicable to all the horoscopes you will ever get to see. What we are trying to say is that the right hand top corner

is ALWAYS called Gemini (Mithuna) and the Lord of that Sign is ALWAYS Mercury (Budha). This rule applies to all the horoscopes in the world.

From the above chart you can see that each of the graha or planets owns 2 signs except the Sun and the Moon. Sun owns just 1 sign and that is Leo. Moon owns Cancer. The 1st sign is Aries or Mesha Rasi which is ruled by Mars. The 2nd sign is ruled by Venus, the 3rd by Mercury, the 4th by Moon, the 5th by Sun, the 6th by Mercury and so on and you will note that Jupiter is the lord of the 12th sign that is called Pisces (Meena). In your horoscope the 1st house is where the Lagna or Ascendant is. Note that down and number it as 1 and then moving clockwise number from 2 to 12. Let us assume that your Ascendant is in Leo (Simha). So the 1st house lord in your case is Sun, the 2nd lord is Mercury and the 12th house lord is Moon. If you do not understand this do not go to the next step. This is the most important part of Indian Astrology. So stay here until you get this right. The following diagram reveals the lord of each of the houses in case the Lagna or the Ascendant is SIMHA or LEO. So the 1st house in that case is ruled by Sun (Ravi). The 2nd house is ruled by Mercury (Budha) and the 12th house is ruled by Moon (Chandra). Chart No: AB

The lords of each house in case you were born in the Simha Lagna (LEO Ascendant). House Lord 1 Sun 2 Mercury 3 Venus 4 Mars 5 Jupiter 6 Saturn 7 Saturn 8 Jupiter 9 Mars 10 Venus 11 Mercury 12 Moon In case your Lagna is Makara (Capricorn) then 1st house is ruled by Saturn 2nd house is ruled by Saturn 3rd house is ruled by Jupiter 4th house is ruled by Mars 5th house is ruled by Venus 6th house is ruled by Mercury 7th house is ruled by Moon 8th house is ruled by Sun 9th house is ruled by Mercury 10th house is ruled by Venus

11th house is ruled by Mars 12th house is ruled by Jupiter. If the Lagna is Makara (Capricron) the planet that owns the 5th house is Venus. Since Children is related to 5th house, Venus rules the matters pertaining to Children. So if we want to know the fate about children for a Makara Lagna person then by noting down the condition of Venus you can tell about his luck or bad luck with regard to Children. The 6th house is the house of debts, enemies and disease. If the lord of the 5th house is in the 6th Children may be the most important reason for worry. In India people having this combination have no sons (male issues). That is because in India people worry a lot if they do not have sons. For those who do not worry about not having a son, then the worry may be that the children disobey them or the children are born physically or mentally handicapped. Once you have done this you will know that all of you are different from each other by virtue of the fact that your 1st house is in different places. Even if you are born in the same Lagna as one of your family members, surely the same planets will not be in the same houses unless you have a twin brother or sister. So even if you were born in the same sun sign or moon sign you may be born in different Ascendants with planets in other houses. In the Chart AB, the Ascendant or the Lagna is Simha (Leo). This house is therefore numbered as house 1. Write out the other numbers from 2 to 12. The 7th house is ruled by Saturn. 7th house refers to marriage and partnership. So you can know about the prospects of marriage by checking out which house Saturn occupies in the horoscope. If Saturn occupies the 10th house, Astrologers will say the following: Your 7th house lord Saturn occupies the 10th house and therefore there will be frequent quarrels with your spouse. A smarter Astrologer will also say that the 10th house is the house of profession and so you are wedded to your profession more than to your spouse and you stay away from family due to work pressure. That leads to quarrel. Once the basic is known, you need to be smart to get more information from the horoscope. Though in the beginning we used English names we will now shift gradually to Sanskrit names because most Indian Astrology books use these names. Since most of the books in English published from India uses these names only we need to get used to them. English Names Indian Names of of Planets Planets (Grahas)

Sun Being the central body in the solar system everything central to human life is considered to be linked to sun (Ravi). The king of metals on the world that determines everything else is Gold. Hence Sun rules over Gold. In he family the head of the family is Father. So Sun signifies the Father. You can invent your own rules once you know the basic idea. Your boss is SUN. Government is SUN. Moon Moon rules water. So Moon rules over your seas, water, water business, wine (soma), emotions (because of tears), mother because of milk etc. Mars Mars is red. Red means heat and fire. So high energy. Violence is ruled by Mars. Machines are hot so Mars rules machines. Mars is strength. Warrior. Police, Boxer, Blood and Army. Mercury Mercury moves back and forth on the zodiac belt. So all things that keep continuously going back and forth is ruled by Mercury Budha. When you write on a paper watch the hand moving back and forth. Mercury denotes number and letters. Paper work, buying and selling. So he rules duplicating works like photocopy or simply making copies in any form. The unique thing about Mercury is that is always close to wherever the Sun is in the horoscope. The maximum Mercury gets to go away from Sun is just 28 degrees. When Sun and Mercury are together it makes a person extremely intelligent, however if they are very close to each other Mercury is afflicted by Sun (Ashtanga = Combust) and that make the person commit blunders when taking major decisions. Jupiter It the planet that guides you. The man on the street who shows you the way is a Jupiter. A teacher, consultant, Astrologer, Temple priest all are linked to Jupiter. Jupiter places are schools and college. Easy way to remember this is Jupiter is GURU. Know what all a good Guru does or likes doing then you will know what Jupiter means without reading more books on Astrology. Know what all a bad Guru does then you will also know the effects of an ill placed Jupiter in a horoscope. Venus Venus rules entertainment. The lady planet. Venus is feminine. Luxury, show off, vanity, expensive

things that normal people cannot afford are all ruled by Venus. Venus rules over cinema. That is why most movies get releases on Friday a day ruled by Venus. Saturn Is the last of the weekday. So anything last is ruled by Saturn. Saturn rules the lowest of low people. Saturn rules over black. Saturn takes the longest time to go around the zodiac when compared to the other grahas in our horoscope. So Saturn represents slow or losing speed. Saturn represents cold, darkness and ignorance. Opposite of Saturn is Sun who represents Light and heat. Death is cold. After death the body gets cold. Rahu Rahu is considered to be a snake or demon. However it simply represents our fears, shadow and doubt. For those who think Rahu is not real here is the shock every time the Sun and the Moon align on the signs that contain Rahu and Ketu you have an eclipse in the sky. If Sun is with Moon then it is Lunar eclipse. If Sun is opposite Moon there is a Solar eclipse. Is the shadow real? Yet it is. Ketu Ketu is considered the headless snake. Meaning the head or poison is not there. Also may mean a person who cannot think because the head is not there. Ketu sometimes indicate spiritual knowledge because the head is not there. The head is the culprit of our hallucinations and fears. H A V E Y O U H E A R D A S T R O L O G E R S S A Y I N G E X A L T AT I O N / U T C H A ? W H A T D O E S T H AT MEAN?

In In this chart we give you the details on where the 9 grahas get exalted. Exalted means that they are in the best place or the said planet is in an extremely joyful condition or at its best. This happens rarely. In the horoscope of Lord Sri Rama we found many planets are exalted. Not surprisingly because Lord Sri Rama is believed to be the 7th Avatar of Maha Vishnu.

Check out from the horoscope collection that you possess if any planet is exalted. If you find Venus in the left top corner of the horoscope watch out for high Venus energy coming out from the person either through his speech or action. If the Graha is alone in the sign consider it as TRULY EXALTED. When others join you does not your mood change? So when other planets are with an exalted planet the exaltation loses its strength to some extent. But when planets that support the planet that is in exaltation then the exaltation gets better.

Then what is the meaning of DEBILITATED? What is NEECHA? They are both the same. It is the opposite condition of being EXALTED. So if Venus is exalted in the top left corner, Venus is debilitated or Neecha in the bottom right corner. So Venus is NEECHA in the sign where Mercury is exalted. Mercury is Neecha where Venus is Exalted. Mercury is Logic, Maths and Reasoning. Venus is Entertainment, Creativity, Music and Art. They are opposites is it not? Neecha place or Debilitation sign may be considered a special place that the planet does not like. It is just not a place that the planet does not like because there are other signs that a planet does not like to be in. So if a planet is Utcha or Neecha it is trying to seek our attention as both the places are special. Exaltation sign are positively special and Debilitation sign is negatively special to the concerned planet. What is meant by ASPECTING? You may have heard a strange term Aspecting in Indian Astrology. A funny word. No one knows how it was chosen to mean glancing or looking. Spell checks always marks it with red underline because there is no such word in English Dictionary. Anyway. Aspecting means looking at. If Jupiter aspects the 5th house it means Jupiter is looking at the 5th house. If Jupiter is looking at Mars then it we say Jupiter is aspecting Mars. Ordinary Aspects:

All planets look at the 7th house from wherever they are. Count the house that the planet occupies as 1 and then move clockwise counting 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7. It looks at the 7th house and all the planets that are in the 7th house from the said planet. Special Aspects: Jupiter apart from looking at the 7th house also looks at the 5th and the 9th house. Saturn apart from looking at the 7th house looks at the 3rd and 10th house. Mars looks at the 4th and 8th house apart from looking at the 7th house.

By now you should have got the feeling that planets (Grahas) are similar to human beings. They look at houses They look at others They are with others They own certain houses. They are happy in certain houses They hate to be in certain houses. They are exalted They are debilitated. If you know them well you will know more about human beings. So always treat them as human beings. If you think they are aliens you will not understand Astrology.

Step 5 Look out for planets in the 6th house, 8th house and the 12th house.
If there are more planets in these houses it means the horoscope is that much weak. If there are 6 out of 9 planets in these houses then surely there is something negative about this horoscope and it is full of warnings and danger. There is a greater need for counseling so that the danger may be averted. In the horoscope of Bruce Lee http://knol.google.com/k/e-k-dhilip-kumar/bruce-lee-a-case-study-inastrology/6x7q12qyypma/24the best martial arts expert, 6 out of 9 planets occupy these houses. He died young and that too before his best movie Enter The Dragon that made him world famous was released. He learned the art of defending against men and enemies but had no clue that he had a short life indicated in his horoscope. Consider this People who do not know how to defend themselves have effortlessly lived a full life and some of them have lived 100 years. If defending and saving ones own life is the point, then Bruce Lee is a great disappointment. But if you look at Box office hits then of course Bruce Lee was a great man. There are other combination in his horoscope that indicate world fame too.

Step 6 Look out for planets in the 1st, 4th, 7th and 10th houses. These houses are like the stage in an auditorium. People on the stage enjoy the limelight. They speak and others listen. They will be heard and people will applaud them. Planets in these houses enjoy the status of a stage performer. During the time when you are ruled by such planets that are placed in these houses you will get the opportunity to rise to the stage and perform so that others may watch you and people will look to you during such times as a great leader or performer or someone who catches the attention. Look out for planets in the 5th and 9th houses. These are the VIP front rows. They simply enjoy life. Planets in these houses give lots of enjoyments and allow you to go through life without much effort. You are resting on your laurels. So during the planetary periods of planets in these houses you may drift without much effort. You may waste chance but enjoy life. Whereas when you are ruled by planets in the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th houses then you will work hard and that will give good results immediately or later on. You will find the going tough but you achieve many things in life during such a phase.

Step 7 You may have heard Astrologers saying that you are ruled by a certain planet. What is the meaning of the terms RULING, Dasha and Bhukti? Your country is ruled by someone. Similarly you will be ruled by a planet at any given time of your life. Sometimes there will be a main ruler and then there will be a sub rule. In India we have the central government and the state government. Central is like the Maha Dasha and State government is like the Bhukti (Sub period). These are 2 important terms in Indian Astrology. They are Dasha and Bhukti. You need to know which planet is currently ruling you.To know that you will have to refer to the page that shows you planets that are ruling you at any given point in time. Sun rules you for 6 years it is called Sun Dasa or Ravi Dasa or Surya Dasa Moon rules you for 10 years it is called Moon Dasa or Chandra Dasa Sun Moon Mars Rahu Jupiter Saturn Mercury 7 years 10 years 7 years 18 years 16 years 19 years 17 years

Ketu Venus -

7 years 20 years

The dasha changes in the same order. Suppose you are born in the dasha of Kuja then the next dasha is always Rahu, and then the next one is always Guru dasha. If you born in the dasha of Budha, then during your teenage you will be in Ketu dasha (the next dasha that comes always after Budha Dasha) and then you will spend your youth in Sukra Dasha for 20 years and then you will have Ravi dasha that is for 6 years. Is this not getting interesting? You may now understand why each one of us have different experiences though we are belonging to the same species. A Dasha is a Major Period because the minimum ruling time is 6 years and maximum is 20 years. Each major period is subdivided into 9 parts. Each is called a minor period or a Bhukti or Antar Dasha. For example in Moon Dasa the Sub period of Jupiter is for 16 months. If you ruled by say Saturn Dasa (Major) and Juptier Bhukti (Minor period) then you need to find out where Saturn is and where Jupiter is? The position of these 2 ruling periods will give you a different experience in life. If they are in 1, 4, 7, 10 then you will have great positive opportunities in life. if they are in 6, 8 or 12th houses then there will be a series of challenges and the outcome is based on how you can overcome the challenges. You may need a good Astrologer to help you out. Step 8 You need to know simple facts like what a particular planet means in a particular house.

If Chandra (Moon) is in the 6th house then serious danger in water is indicated. This includes the possibility of death by drowning. So children having such combination in their horoscope are prone to death in water especially before the age of 8. They should never step in the sea or river or swimming pool that is deeper than 1 feet to 3 feet depending on their height. But a smart Astrologer may tell the parents to teach swimming so that such a child may survive even if they accidentally fall into a lake or river. The risk is that the child may also misuse this knowledge because the child may get over confident that he knows how to swim and then jump into a river. The best thing is to repeatedly tell the child that there is lots of danger in water. So always follow all the safety rules before entering water. The first thing is to know what may happen. This is more important. The next thing is to know when that may happen so that the intelligent ones may avoid it. In Astrology it is easier to know what may or will happen more than finding out when that will happen. EXAMPLE: Whenever the person is under the rule of Moon (Chandra) that is placed in the 6th house he or she is susceptible to danger in water. So a good Astrologer should warn such people sufficiently well in advance. A person having this combination in their horoscope should avoid dangerous places likes waterfalls, rough rivers, water sports etc. Another way of using this information is that such people should learn to swim in the swimming pool in just 3 feet water. So once they learn to swim the danger is less. Step 9 1st House: Myself (Me or the I) My body, what others see as me. This House shows how you project your energy onto others. Primarily this is the house of health. 2nd House: What I possess or what I am possessive about. Therefore my family, my face, my earnings, my wealth etc. Primarily the house of wealth. 3rd House: All about the help you will receive. The house of help. To begin with in life you are helped by your brothers or sisters. They were the first help when you began this life. So this house deals with coborns. It also deals with communication because this ability helps you. Imagine the plight of a person who cannot speak or hear. For example if this house is afflicted you may have no brothers or sisters or you may have problems in communication. 4th House: Comfort Naturally deals with home, vehicles and anything that makes you more comfortable in life. The first person in life who made life more comfortable to you is your mother. So mother is related to 4th house. 5th house: Creativity Anything you are able to create and easiest and most natural for all is creating children. So children are known from this house. Creativity in form is related to this house. The primary house dealing with Children. 6th House: Our enemies The enemy of your body is disease. The enemy of your wealth is loan. The regular enemy. So this house deals with disease, debts and enemies. The planets in these houses usually cause disease,

debts and enemies. If more planets are occupying this houses then the person has lots of problems due to disease, loan or enemies. 7th House: The opposite (the other person) 99% of the people in the world marry the opposite sex. So this is the house of marriage. This house also deals with partnership. 8th House: Battle This house deals with life and death situation, inheritance because that comes through someones death, the sudden twists and turns. The house that deals with longevity issues. 9th House: Teacher (Guru) Your first teacher is your father. So this house deals primarily with father.Higher education (college education) The house of right kind of knowledge. (Having a Rahu in this house means the 9th house is destroyed because Rahu denotes ignorance) 10th House: The purpose of your life. The house of karma, deals with your profession and what you do most of the time. If this house is strong you have lots of important work allotted for you. If this house is afflicted by bad planets it means that the person is going to waste a lot of time or do things that produce bad results. 11th House: Fulfillment of your desires. The house of desires. The house of friendship. All that the person wants in life. If this house is afflicted it means that the person will be unhappy because of unfulfilled desires. 12th House: Loss This is the last house. In end we lose everything. So loss is the end of what we gained. Also deals with salvation or moksha because that is the last thing that we can do. So if you want to know about your children you need to focus on the 5th house in your horoscope. If you want to discuss about the marriage of a person then you need to look at the 7th house. If you want to know more about accidents then you need to look at the 6th house. If you want to know about your profession then you need to look at the 10th house of your horoscope. If you want to know about your children then you need to focus on the 5th house. Step 10: The house that is occupied by the lord (or owner) of the house makes that house positive. The good things of that house will be experienced by the person. If the lord of the 1st house (the planet owning the 1st house) is in its own house then you will have a strong body, good health, generally good immunity against disease and have a longer life. Imagine you are the owner of a particular house. If you are in that house, will you not protect the house. Is it not good for the house if you as the owner also occupy your own house. Points to remember: 1. There are 12 houses. 2. There are 9 planets. 3. Each house is ruled by a planet (Graha) 4. Each of the 9 planets (Grahas) will surely occupy 1 of the 12 houses.

5. The lord of the house need not occupy his own house. He may be elsewhere. 6. The occupant (tenant) has a stronger hold on the house more than the owner (Lord) of the house. 7. If the occupant is an enemy planet that house is destroyed. This means whatever the house represents that will be the area in which the person has more suffering. If bad planets occupy the house of marriage then marriage is likely to give much challenges and pressures. 8. The Dasha and Bhukti (major and minor periods) will decide what happens when. Step 11: Now understand what a planet (graha) represents. If that is known the general effects of that planet can be known. If the current dasha (major period) is that of Jupiter the effect that you will experience is mostly linked to the nature of Jupiter. Jupiter represents the Guru (teacher). So Jupiter rules consultants, advisors, ministers, schools and colleges, temples, priesthood etc. A Guru raises often his index finger showing the dos and donts symbol of the index finger. So Jupiter rules the law and religion of the land. So in the dasha of Jupiter the person who is already a consultant or advisor will have a better time than in any other dasha. This is called the gross effects of the planet. Sun Central and Power like the Sun of the Solar System Moon Mind and things associated with the mind (the word Lunatic is taken from the word Lunar) Mars Strength (energy) the fighter, the commander Mercury Intellect, the computer, mathematics, calculating, intelligence Jupiter The teacher, law, religion, education Venus Entertainment, enjoyment, women, sex and the obsessions Saturn The last of the 7, so what men hate most, the suffering, the social service, helping others Rahu Like Saturn (at least 50% like Saturn) Ketu Like Mars (at least 50% like Ketu) So if a person is under the dasha (major period) of Sun and has been in Politics for a long time, then during the dasha of Sun (Surya or Ravi) then the chances for becoming a successful politician is very high. If such a Sun occupies the 10th house then he or she will become a Chief Minister or a Prime Minister or reach the coveted post in politics. If a person is under the dasha of Venus and he or she has been an actor for a long time then during the dasha of Venus surely there will be great many opportunities to succeed and get many awards and recognition while acting.

Return of the Dragon

By E K Dhilip Kumar Almost everyone knows Bruce Lee the unforgettable martial art actor, philosopher, instructor, the founder of the Jeet Kune Do martial art system, and widely regarded as the best martial artist of the 20th century. However there are many interesting and sad facts about this great man that are unknown to many of us.

For example, did you know that Bruce Lee Entered the world during the Chinese year of the Dragon (1940 November) early morning in the hour of the Dragon? He was born in San Francisco Chinatown. He exited this world when he was just 33, and that happened just one month before his all time hit Enter the Dragon was released. Lee had frequently complained of blackouts and severe headaches a few months prior to his death. But do you know what finally killed the man who had effortlessly knocked out (KO) several opponents in real fights? Strangely he died a few hours after discussing with film producer Raymond Chow about their next movie Game of Death.

Bruce Lee is weak

Amongst the 12 houses in a horoscope the harmful are the 6th, 8th and 12th. If you want to quickly assess a horoscope you need to find out how many planets occupy these challenging houses. If no planets occupy these houses the person is considered very fortunate. Ironically the man who was famous for his great physical strength was born with 6 out of the 9 planets in these unhelpful houses making his horoscope weak.

Fortunately there were many strong points in his horoscope that also helped him become a legend in his lifetime. His Moon sign (Libra) is very strong and from here you find many powerful combination that take men to great heights. Moon opposite Saturn and Jupiter, Venus in Libra (own house status), 3 planets with Moon, Sun in the 2nd from Moon are some of the combination that took care of his name and fame. Leo is the 10th house. Leo is the King symbolized by the Lion. The 10th house is Leo ruled by the Sun. Sun is on the Ascendant showing a great purpose in life. Alone here, Sun indicates generally good health and robust body which Bruce had for most part of his life. Sun in the 1st house may also indicate a shorttempered person, agitated by Fire element in the body (pitta) and always wanting to be the No.1 which he was but at the cost of great stress. The Ascendant is ruled by Mars the warrior planet but in the sign of Scorpio(n) which stings only when pushed into a corner. If the lord of the 10th occupies the 1st the person may extensively use the physical body all through their life. Sun as the 10th house lord occupies the Navamsa of Libra that is ruled by Venus indicating income as an entertainer using his physical prowess. Many planets in the 6th and 12th house often got Bruce into problems for no good reason. For example when he appeared on the Hong Kong TV show with host Ho Sho Shin he was asked to display his skills. Bruce demonstrates a technique and Shin is hurled across the stage. However this show of power angered the press. There were several such incidences in life. But why go near a Lion? You ask for it and you get it!

Why was Bruce Lee such a good fighter?

Jupiter in the 6th house according to Bhrigu Sutra an ancient Astrology treatise says that such a person is a terror to his enemies. He had knocked out many of his opponents ranging from professional fighters, boxers to even street fighters. And if that was not enough Lee has Saturn in

the 6th house which adds to his invincibility. Venus as the 12th house lord in the 12th house gives rise to a powerful vipareetha raja yoga (like a double negative becomes positive) that eventually takes the person to great achievements but only after fighting against all odds in life. The 12th house also deals with spirituality. Many planets here gave Lee the philosophical touch. Lee majored in philosophy at the University of Washington. His own books on martial arts expose this philosopher in him both inside and outside of martial arts circle. Many planets in the 12th house may also mean giving away things and knowledge for free. Bruce instructed several World Karate Champions including Chuck Norris, Joe Lewis, and Mike Stone. Between all 3 of them, during their training with Bruce Lee they won every Karate Championship in the United States. The Putranaash Yoga (short lived children) which is caused by the 5th house lord Jupiter occupying 6th house caught in between Ketu and Saturn may be the cause of his son Brandon Lee a good actor passing away at the age of 28. Strangely Brandon Lee was acting in a movie The Crow a bird that is often associated with Saturn. Many planets in the 6th and 12th houses indicate short life. Saturn and Rahu are in his horoscope connected to death factors. Bruce Lee died on July 20, 1973 while in Hong Kong soon after taking a prescription pain killer tablet offered by film star Betty Ting Pei to reduce the headaches and muscular pains. He was under the inauspicious Saturn-Rahu-Saturn period.Saturn is in the 6th and Rahu is in the 6th from Saturn and Saturn rules the 64th Navamsa (a point in the horoscope indicating death). Saturn-Rahu period is usually dangerous to life according to Maharshi Parasara who said that unexpected danger to life is indicated if these planets are designated planets of death. The compassionate sage had in anticipation of threats to life suggested a remedy. (Mrityunjaya Japa Homa, Refer Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra 3200 BC). The Saturn-Rahu-Saturn period was from 15th July 1973. On 18th July just 2 days before his death a deflector of bad Feng Shui, placed on the roof of Bruces home in Hong Kong gets blown off the roof by heavy rain and winds. The deflector had been placed to protect Bruce and his family from bad Feng Shui and evil spirits as previous owners had all been plagued by financial disaster. Saturn the lord of the 4th house in the 6th strongly obstructs remedies to correct a Vasthu Sastra or Feng-Shui fault. Many people believe that Astrology is a negative approach to life in the sense that once something is known to a person, that person is affected by the words of the Astrologer if he had something negative to say. But if you believe in Astrology or not it works like gravity works. It is not dependent on whether one is aware of gravity or not. Bruce Lee had no knowledge of Astrology or had no knowledge that he was in a period that is called the death period the maraka period. Short life has however not belittled the greatness of this martial arts icon. Longevity is being discussed here only to prove that all of us are bound by our karma. None were suprised when Lee was named among TIME Magazines 100 Most Important People of the Century as one of the greatest heroes and icons. In Bruce Lees horoscope Venus in the 12th house as the lord of the 12th is an assurance for moving into heavenly region soon after death. Hence we are sure that he has taken rebirth in a

place where he can enjoy life as a reward of his hard work and philanthropic mind. The action hero was known for films in which he portrayed characters that defended the Chinese and the working class from oppressors. Even after death this great soul continues to help the Chinese.Bruce Lees former home in Hong Kong is being sold to raise money for earthquake relief efforts in China, news reports said recently (22nd May 2008).

One of the many statues of Bruce Lee Death is not to be feared. The following is what Lord Sri Krishna told the great Archer Sri Arjuna (as told in Bhagavad Gita). as a warrior you must boldly fight for justice, for you will die one day even if you do not fight. Be the great warrior you are and people will always talk of your greatness and you will thus attain heaven. On every July 20th let us remember this great hero.

n individuals horoscope is divided into 12 Bhavas or houses, based on the position of ones lagna in the chart. The nature and qualities of the rasis, planets and the nakshatras explained so far are their basic inherent qualities. Once a persons chart is analyzed from the lagna point of view, based on the way these planets and rasis are placed from lagna, gives them a personal touch and helps us to understand the various aspects and events of ones life. The sign in which your lagna or ascendant is placed becomes your 1st house. The sign next to that (clockwise in the south chart and anticlockwise in a north chart), becomes your 2nd house. The one next to that is your 3rd house and so on till the 12th house. The 1st, 5th, and 9th houses are called Trikonas or trine houses. They are the most powerful and auspicious houses. They are also called Lakshmi sthanas as the rule all kinds of prosperities. The 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th houses are called Kendras or quadrants. They are also auspicious and powerful houses next to the konas. The 3rd and the 11th houses are called Upachayas or houses of growth. The 6th, 8th, and 12 houses are called Dusthanas or bad houses.

1, 5, and 9 are Dharma houses. 2, 6, and 10 are Artha houses. 3, 7, and 11 are Kama houses. 4, 8, and 12 are Moksha houses. The 12 houses and what they signify and represent in your life. The First house or Lagna called Tanu sthana, represents your birth, body looks and soul, personality traits and inclinations, longevity, health, character and nature. It also rules your head the head, longevity, health, character and nature of the native. It is a kendra a trikona and Dharma bhava, and it is at the same time . It is one of the most important and auspicious house in the horoscope. If you dont know your Lagna click here to use onsite instant calculator. The Second house called Dhana sthana, represents your wealth, speech, family, face, right eye, mouth and the food you eat and charity and death. The Third house called Bhatru sthana represents your younger brothers and sisters, courage, servants and subordinates, communications, talents and skills, sports, business, short distance travels. The Fourth bhava called Matru sthana, represents mother, home, relatives, office or factory, emotions, domestic and house related happiness, landed property and conveyances, education mental peace and chest and lungs. The Fifth house called Putra sthana, represents children, education and intellect, creativity, mantra, tantra and pooja. The Sixth house called Shatru sthana, represents health, illness, injuries, loans, sports, maternal uncle, enemies and opposition. The Seventh house called Kalatra sthana, represents spouse, sex life, reproduction and genital organs, partners, enjoyments and Kundalini shakti and death. The Eight house called Ayu sthana, represents destruction, accidents, physical pains, inheritance, legacies, death and insurance. The Ninth house called bhagya sthana, represents luck, prosperity, guru, father, religious and spiritual progress and knowledge of the scriptures, sadhana, pilgrimages, foreign travel and foreign trade, grandchildren. The Tenth house represents your profession, business, authority and power and honours and achievements.

The Eleventh house represents gains and income, good news, money, elder brothers and sisters, friends, long distance travels, air lines and entertainment. The Twelfth house represents losses, waste, expenses, foreign countries, imprisonment, death, sadhana and Moksha or final liberation. Each of the 9 different planets, while placed in the 12 different houses, produce different, and at times totally opposite results. Again each of them produce some good results and some bad results. Remember this important fact. As there are 12 houses and only 9 planets, there will always be some vacant houses. In most horoscopes there are more than one planet in a house. The lords of the rasis as mentioned earlier in lesson 1, i.e., Mars for Aries, Venus for Taurus etc., become the lords of your houses falling in those rasis. Which house lord is placed in which house is a very important factor. Again each house lord placed in the other houses has some good results and some bad. Again because of the dual ownership rasis by planets, a planet placed in a particular house as lord of one house may be good, but bad as lord of the other house. This is the third important parameter to remember. Let us see the example horoscope to make things clear. Remember the house counting is done from the lagna, which is the 1st house.

South Indian Count clockwise North Indian Count anti-clockwise In this horoscope: The lagna or the 1st house falls in Vrischika rasi or Scorpio. Scorpio is owned by Mars. So the lagna lord is mars. He is placed in Gemini, the 8th house counted from lagna.( the counting starts from lagna) The 2nd house is Dhanu or Sagittarius, its owner is jupiter. So the 2nd lord is placed in Libra, the 12th house from lagna. The 3rd house is Makara or Capricorn, owned by saturn, who is placed in Aries, the sixth house. The 4th house is Kumbha or Aquarius, owned by saturn, who is placed in Aries, the sixth house. The 5th house is Meena or Pisces, owned by jupiter, who is placed in the 12th house.

The 6th house is Mesha or Aries, whose lord mars is in the 8th house. You may interested to note that mars as the important lagna lord placed in the 8th house is bad and inauspicious, but in the 2nd case as the owner of a bad 6th house placed in another bad 8th house, he very good and auspicious. The 7th house is Vrishabha or Taurus, whose lord venus is placed in the 8th house. The 8th house is Mithuna or Gemini, whose lord is placed in the 6th house. (This is good) The 9th house is Karka or Cancer, whose lord moon is in the 4th house. The 10th house is Simha or Leo and the lord sun is in the 7th house. The 11th house is Kanya or Virgo and the lord is in the 6th house. (This is bad) The 12th house lord Venus placed in the 8th house.( Again note venus as the bad 12th lord in the bad 8th house is good, but as the important 7th lord in the bad 8th he is bad) For every lagna some planets are benific, some are malefic and some are neutral. Again how they are placed in the chart is a very important point to be considered. however the following are the basic thumb rules: Lords of 1,5,9 houses are always benefics. Lords of 4, 7, 10 houses if placed in auspicious houses produce good results. Lords of 6, 8, 12 house if placed in 6, 8, or 12 houses produce good results but are bad if placed in the good houses. 2nd and 11th lords are better placed in the auspicious houses. When two or more planets are placed in a house, it is called the conjunction of planets. The results of these conjunctions of planets will depend on whether they are benefics or malefics from the lagna point of view. The conjunction of the Kendra lords or the Kona lords or the Kendra or Kona lords is highly auspicious. These are calledRaja yoga combinations. The Raja yoga combinations give rise to authority, power, position and wealth. However, if a dusthana lord. i.e., 6th, 8th or 12th lord joins them it spoils the rajayogas. When two planets exchange houses, i.e., let us say Mars is in Venus house and Venus in in Mars house, it is called Parivartana Yoga or Exchange Yoga. The Parivartana Yoga is a very powerful one. The Parivartana Yoga becomes auspicious if the exchange is between two auspicious houses, i.e., between the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th and 11th houses. Similarly if two dusthana lords, i.e., 6th, 8th and 12th, exchange houses then also it is auspicious. However, if a benefic house lord exchanges houses with a malefic house lord, like 9th lord with the 12th lord, then the exchange is inauspicious.

Similarly if exalted planets are placed in Kendras etc. it again causes Rajayogas. There are several hundred raja yoga combinations mentioned in the Shastras.

What should I do about my financial situation? When am I going to get more money? What does my chart say life? Such questions are among the most frequently asked of the astrologer.

In ancient times each family produced the commodities needed for their own consumption. If you wanted som yourself produce, there was barter. Somewhere along the line the 'medium of exchange' was invented, so that survival comes down to the struggle for money. Classical works on astrology are full of formulas and combin positions indicating the potential for riches as well as for poverty. Through astrology we seek guidance on wh attainment in this lifetime will be, and when, and how we can improve the outcome.

Where in the natal chart do we find clues regarding income? Each sector (house) of the astrology chart makes contribution to the overall scheme of prosperity. The 2nd house is the most specific regarding the resources th disposal for this particular journey on Earth. Thus we first evaluate the 'health' of the 2nd house to determine Conditions for a healthy 2nd house include having 'good' planets, especially Jupiter or Venus, either in or infl and having the lord of the house (the planet that rules the zodiacal sign located in the 2nd house) in a strong a placement, such as being placed in one of the power houses (the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th), in a favorable sign, and of the benefic planets.

The 11th house gets analyzed in a similar manner. The 11th house is distinguished from the 2nd house by bei and Gain, and thus more associated with 'chunks' of money rather than the regular income and stored up prosp connection between the 11th house and another house in the chart shows in what part of life you can seek pro lord of the 11th house is found in the 4th (Home), profits can come from real estate.

We live in a job-based society, so obviously the parts of the chart related to employment and career have a ma prosperity for most of us. The 6th house is the house of service, servitude, and therefore employment. An inv the 2nd houses indicates income from employment. Such would be the case if the lord of the 2nd house were house. This relationship, if it exists, has to be analyzed for favorable or unfavorable influences: if favorable c person gets good employment that contributes to their prosperity, if unfavorable, then the person works at a lo difficulty sustaining employment.

The 10th house of the chart is the sector called 'status and position' and 'action in society'. This comes down to in our modern world. The connections made by planetary placements in the 10th house, and the location of th in the chart, tell a lot about what sort of a career a person has. For instance, a favorable connection between th and the 11th house of profits indicates one who makes money through commissions, sales, deals, etc. Involve the house of 'Self' with the 10th house indicates a Self-employed person, an Entrepreneur. Involvement of the Partnership with the 10th house of Career shows success through Business Partnership. As with all analysis th makes, an assessment of the benefic or malefic influences on the 10th house and its lord must be made in orde degree of success.

But what if the chart doesn't indicate favorable placements and influences connected to the financial houses? potential sources of prosperity. One that I like to look at is the 8th house. Usually thought of as the House of O the 8th has another meaning: Unearned Wealth. This is because the 8th is the 2nd house (prosperity) from the indicates the partner's wealth, and by extension, any unearned wealth. Thus, a strong planet and favorable con indicates benefiting from another person's wealth; i.e., being supported by another, an inheritance, alimony or

etc.

There are two houses in the chart that generally indicate Good Fortune. The 9th house and its lord are primary in the chart, and if connected with the income houses, especially when strong and under benefic influence, giv for good financial karma in one's life. Likewise, the 5th house, indicating 'Good Past Life Karma Dividend', w 2nd or 11th house, will pay out as favorable finances in your life, due to the meritorious actions from the past

After examining the potentials shown by the birth chart, the next question is When does it happen? For the goes to the various techniques of prediction that give the timetable for activation of the latent potentials. The dasha system, the so-called planetary periods. During the years of the major period, or sub-period, of the plan or the 11th house, the karmas associated with money are 'turned on'. But the dashas cannot give more than the natal chart. So if the strength of the lord of the 2nd house is only medium, we can expect only medium results when the might be an inheritance, the astrologer looks for activation of the 8th house. But even if the promise there, the payoff can only be as large as the house and its lord's strength indicates.

Outside of the dasha system, the ongoing planetary transits to the natal chart help to determine times of increa notable of these is the transit of Jupiter, since it is the general indicator of prosperity and expansion. Thus, if J moves through or influences a money house in your chart, and if that house is strong and favorable and espec already 'turned on' through the dasha system, then you can anticipate an up-tick in income. For instance, when through your 6th house, there are increased opportunities for employment, usually accompanied by an increas Jupiter influences by its trinal (120 degree) aspect, the 2nd house (income) when it transits the 6th.

These are just some of the possibilities that the astrologer looks for when analyzing your chart for answers to There are more levels to investigate for more details, such as the divisional charts (called vargas) or the functi signs (the nakshatras), which, like the houses in the chart, each demonstrate potentials which have their oppor during the life. It is through a careful reading of the planetary patterns that the astrologer can point out what p making use of, as well as when activation within the chart creates the most favorable time to make your effor And, if you are so blessed, the astrology chart shows that there are times when circumstances arise having no conscious efforts, that are hidden in the workings of the lords of karma and grace, when your financial needs case.
