Press release For immediate release: Citizens to raise concerns about metro access, transit safety and proposed

closure of Upper Lachine during MUHC Glen Site Public Info Session Montreal Nov. 12th, 2012 - The St-Raymond Residents Association des rsidents de Saint-Raymond will join citizens and organizations from NDG, Westmount and StHenri at the MUHC public information meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 13th, 2012 from 7-9pm at Glen Hall, 5100 de Maisonneuve West, main floor. The last meeting of this kind was held in January and the MUHC presentation is available online. Despite ample information being presented in January, limited time was left for residents to ask questions and present concerns and the format didnt encourage dialogue. As the construction phase is well underway, citizens still have questions and requests: 1) We want safe transit options for cyclists and pedestrians around the MUHC Glen Site. At the last meeting, we heard of the plans for a bicycle path circling the complex, linked to the City of Montreals bike path and Westmount via the Glen Road. When will the MUCH and Ville confirm an increased investment in pedestrian and bike paths and bridges, including residents using the South-West entrance (eg. proposed elevator)? 2) We want congestion and barrier-free metro, train and bus options at Vendome with increased services as required. It is our understanding that the buck has stopped with the MTQ which could allow for an adequate investment in a covered access point / tunnel directly to and from the Glen Site that is accessible to everyone. 3) We want proposed major road closures to be evaluated in a transparent, pro-active manner. We are very concerned about the proposed closure of Upper Lachine at Decarie, as this is a major access point, as well as for residents living west of St Raymonds such as in the Westhaven / Cavendish area, to Lachine and Ville St-Pierre. We have already had daily work and school commute times more than double, and businesses have suffered. What is being proposed for the re-routing of the 104, 90 and school bus routes and access to Vendome? Despite the MUHC commitment to 90 million in spending for the infrastructure around the super-hospital the regular Good Neighbourly Relations meetings and information sessions havent allow citizens adequate opportunities for dialogue with decisionmakers. For this site to truly be a world-class facility, lets act locally and think globally. -30-
