STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY
Introduction: A word of thanks to all the parishioners who are actively involved in the various ministries in our parish which impact the lives of a lot of people, and who sacrificially and regularly make their financial contribution to our parish. Who is a steward? He is somebody's manager. We are all stewards of God because, as Psalm 24 reminds us, God is the sole owner of everything we have: "The earth is Lord's and all that is in it." St. Peter reminds us of our duty of stewardship: "As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God's varied grace" (1Peter 4:10). The New Testament refers to our stewardship to God 87 times. Paul claims that he is the steward of Christ's gospel. The good steward never forgets that God is the source of all he possesses and that all his possessions are given to him in trust, and he handles them accordingly. Time, Talents, Treasure: There are three areas of stewardship: time, talents and treasure. Accepting the Biblical model of returning 10% of the "first fruits" to the Lord, we attempt to utilize at least 10% of our time for prayer, reflection, and works of mercy and ministry. Our talents are to be used to glorify the Giver by using them wherever they are needed, in our parish or in our community. Our treasure or earning is offered as tithing for the maintenance of the parish church, worship, Sunday school, youth formation, bible study classes, outreach activities in the community and evangelization programs.

Our parish religious formation program for our children, among other areas, depends on the giving of all. You know the challenges you encounter at home with paying your bills and keeping your home running. The same applies to the parish. As you know, we are not aware of your status at home, if we can sit down with you and listen, this would be the first good step toward stewardship of time, talent and treasure. We need to take this first step, during this Year of Faith, so we can continue religious formation for our children. If you do receive parish envelopes, please use them, if you need envelopes let us know. Thank you for those parishioners and non-parishioners that already use the envelopes in some way. Thank you to those who also contribute to the work of the food pantry, ministries appeal, etc. As we enter into this stewardship month, let us prayerfully reflect upon how gracious God has been to us. God is goodAll THE TIME! Fr. Jarosz

Year of the Eucharist 2010-2011 FROM THE BISHOP CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
Page 5
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, For over 40 years, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has come to the aid of organizations nationwide in an effort to eradicate poverty in America. Just as the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us that the Churchs love for the poor . . . is a part of her constant tradition (no. 2444), it is also the tradition of CCHD to love the poor by helping to end the cycle of poverty. Last year, your generosity to CCHD allowed grants for 9 local organizations working to make a difference in our communities. Two of these organizations are Community Outreach, Shining Light NFP of West Chicago, and School on Wheels, sponsored by the Sisters of the Congregation of St. Joseph. Community Outreach, Shining Light NFP, West Chicago, was established in 2011 to serve the poor and vulnerable in the area of West Chicago and surrounding communities. This organization seeks to empower, educate, and provide life/job skills programs, emotional and spiritual support for unplanned pregnancy, tools for practical job skills to reach full potential, outreach to the community, family values, positive self-esteem, and partner with area schools to promote higher education and learning. The programs provide domestic violence counseling, support, and education. School on Wheels, Congregation of St. Joseph, LaGrange Park, was established in 1993 to provide ESL classes for the poor and vulnerable of western Chicago and the suburbs. The School on Wheels bus visits the communities of Woodridge, Hodgkins, Cicero, Summit, and Westmont weekly. The program and volunteer tutors are flexible enough to provide English tutoring that is specialized to the individual needs. More than just providing direct service, the volunteers and students make connections with each other and their communities; develop leadership, community awareness, and appreciation for cultural differences. Some students become volunteers and community leaders. Through CCHD the Catholic Church is working to continue its tradition of love for the poor. Please help the efforts of CCHD to break the cycle of poverty. Fight poverty in America. Defend human dignity. Support CCHD in the upcoming Collection. And remember, 25% of the Collections proceeds stay here in our diocese to fight poverty in our communities and defend the dignity of our neighbors. For more information about the Collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development and the groups it funds, please visit www.usccb.org/nationalcollections. God bless you, Most Reverend R. Daniel Conlon Bishop of Joliet

November 2012 Theme for the Year of Faith: Seek the One Truth:
Faith and Science, Creed Connection: God the Father Almighty During this Year of Faith, Pope Benedict calls on the faithful to renew their commitment to the Catholic Church by enlivening their faith. If you would like to research the Vatican II Constitution: Sacrosanctum Concilium (Sacred Liturgy), Ch. 3-5, Sacraments, Divine Office and Liturgical Year. The Catechism paragraph numbers 185421/Belief in God the Father. Pray Genesis 1-2, and Isaiah 56:1-8. As a family discuss faith and science.
Hence the whole Christian life is a communion with each of the divine persons, without in any way separating them. Everyone who glorifies the Father does so through the Son in the Holy Spirit; everyone who follows Christ does so because the Father draws him and the Spirit moves him. (CCC, n.259)
All families that will be receiving first Eucharist this year must attend the retreat. Please call Sherry at 630-396-6076

Council of Catholic Women Christ the King Parish Whats Happening November 2012
November is the month we celebrate the harvest and give thanks for the many blessings we have received. Since the beginning of our country, a day has been set aside for giving thanks to God. Some suggest that it would be better to celebrate giving thanks the other 364 days of the year instead of just one day - Thanksgiving Day. November 10 & 11 Operation Support our Troops is an opportunity to send a message from home to our men and women in the military serving overseas. Look for boxes in the Narthex to accept your contributions. Top Ten items needed are: Peanut Butter -28oz.or less, Jelly - 32 oz or less in plastic jars, Individual cold drink mix packets, Canned soup or Pasta, Individually wrapped snacks, Shaving cream (non-aerosol preferred), Body wash for men, Hand warmers, Lip balm like Chapstick, AA or AAA Batteries For more information visit: WWW.osotamerica.org. November 19 CCW Community Mass at 8:30 AM Join us as we pray for the intentions of the month: Pray for those who have died, for our country, for our men and women in the military, for each other and especially for Lynn Zelenkas aunt Geraldine and for our friends and family who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer. November 19 CCW Meeting - will be held in the Parish Life Center and will begin at 7:00 The program for the evening will focus on getting ready for the St. Nicholas Fair (December 1 & 2). Here is an opportunity to enjoy a fun time and become more creative. Join St. Nicks CCW Elves workshop as we put together some fun Christmas items to sell at the Fair. Bring your scissors, tacky glue and your crafty ideas. For more information please call Anna Weselak at 630-620-7797. Plan to come and bring a friend. November 22 Thanksgiving Day Take time this Thanksgiving to make it a real day of giving thanks. Ask family members to list the things for which they are most thankful. The one with the longest list wins! Happy Thanksgiving! ************************ ********************************** Coming up in December Have you ever wondered, like the Little Drummer Boy, what you would have brought to the newborn King on Christmas morning? Here is an opportunity for you. CCW will be collecting newborn baby clothes to give to the moms at Womans Choice, in Jesus name, at its December 17th meeting. Put Baby Jesus on your shopping list, pick out a baby outfit and join us on Monday morning. You may also drop off your gift in the Narthex on Saturday, December 15 or Sunday, December 16. Our December 17th meeting will be held at a different place and time! We will meet in the Meeting Room in the Academy after the 8:30 a.m. CCW Community Mass. Coffee, conversation and yummy goodies will be served.
REFLECTION:
Each one of us is a co-worker of Christ we must labour hard to carry Him to the hearts where He has not yet been known and loved. But, unless we have Jesus, we cannot give Him; that is why we need the Eucharist. Spend as much time as possible in front of the Blessed Sacrament and He will fill you with His strength and His power. Tell Him, 'Come to our hearts Lord and stay with us'. Then you will become the instruments of His love, peace and joy." Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta
