Great empires and kingdoms rise and fall depending on how they are run by their leaders. Leadership is more than that; it is a process of social influence that gains the utmost support of the many to achieve a common goal. Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. Leaders carry out this process by applying their leadership knowledge and skills. Time was gone when leadership largely comprised barking orders to inferiors who then barked them on to their inferiors. There are many types of leadership. And there is no perfect type of leadership. It will always depend on the people you are handling. The latest trend now in leadership is more focus in the people not in the leader. The leader only executes what the people know what is good for them.

Christian Education has deep roots in the Philippines. It can be date back from our first colonizers, the Spaniards, who brought with them political system that was closely intertwined with their religion, an education that taught the Catholic doctrine, medical mission and social services. Christian Education teaches people of different age groups about Christian values and promotes Christian living, therefore encouraging a harmonious way of life with all of Gods creation. Every person who has had the exposure in a Christian institution believes in the unifying philosophy of education, which regards all truth as one with God. This philosophy is given flesh as the school begins to acquaint students with God and His truth in all aspects so as to effect in them a well-rounded growth fit for a useful life in the community and the nation. The school, therefore, shall stand for high moral principles, for service, and for the application of Christian teachings to all human affairs. The Christian educator plays a very important role in Christian Education. He/she is responsible for upholding the Christian values. This is not an easy job with all the temptations and evils that are present in our world today. This pose as a big challenge to them. But with God as their guide, nothing is impossible.

Good leaders are made not born. If a person has the desire and willpower, he/she can become an effective leader. Good leaders develop through a never ending process of self-study, education, training, and experience. They are continually working and studying to improve their leadership skills. Employees want to work in environments where the leaders are clear on their values, and their actions are predictable and consistent with those values. Inevitably among the top leadership traits that followers admire are the traits of honesty and integrity. Leaders must understand that to shift, to adjust, and to make needed organizational changes, employees have to have trust in the change agent. Leaders earn trust in four ways: consistency, congruency, reliability, and integrity. And being a leader is never about without trials. Along the way people from all walks of life with different backgrounds will test you, criticize you and will put you down. This will always be part of the job as they say. But these are just trials. These trials only make a good leader become GREAT!

Power and politics are very closely related and its present in all organizations. Politics relates to the ways people gain and use power. Power is the ability to influence people and events. With power comes great responsibility. The existence of politics in most organization is a reality and successful strategic leaders must be good politicians. The skills of using power and influence are important in achieving the change you want to accomplish as a leader. It is vital to identify that in almost every organization, there are clusters of interests, and that leaders need to understand what issues that concerns them. Leading with power takes ones time, energy and effort. The use of power goes beyond exercising formal authority. It requires building and maintaining a reputation for being effective and it necessitates the skill in getting things done. With the election just around the corner, we can expect more surge of power coming. Politics in the Philippines is a very dirty game. Anything could happen.

The Philippines has a history of corruption, and virtually all governments throughout the country's history have struggled with the problem. Corruption in the Philippines is characterized by a combination of societal factors, institutional factors and an incentives system that contributes to corruption. Nowadays foreigners and citizens alike say that the Philippines has the most corrupt leadership and economy. Corruption in the Philippines has become "a humanitarian crisis" and scandals increasingly seem to dominate the news. The worsening corruption has eaten up the right of every citizen to good governance, freedom, decent life, and more importantly his or her dignity. Corruption is a serious obstacle to the social and economic development of a country. The biggest losers are the Filipino people. In effect, the end-users are made to pay for overpriced goods or services or are made to deal with low-quality or substandard goods or services. Corruption scandals are only "closed" by the fact of other corruption scandals taking its place. New scandals take over and the old ones are left hanging and unresolved. Nobody ever seems to be punished: They are left to leave the country, get confined to their state-of-art hospitals, resign, get offered early retirement package - even get reassigned. Worse, executive orders are sometimes issued preventing them from talking during congressional or other independent hearings. Corruption is present everywhere, according to a book I once read. The moment you bribe a child to get what you want, its actually a form of corruption. Maybe before we address this big problem in our country lets all start the change within ourselves. Maybe only by then we can achieve

Environmental issues are the negative aspects of human activities on natural environment. Planet earth passed on its legacy of a four billion years development of sustainable environment to humans and they left no habitat, landscape and region untouched. The loss of biodiversity, habitat destruction, depletion of energy or mineral sources, deforestation, climate change, global warming, ground water contamination, species extinction, ozone layer depletion and environmental pollution are all part of environmental issues.

Humans have a greater negative impact on earth's environment than it can sustain and is outside of its carrying capacity. Studies and scientific research on environmental degradation reveals that we have only a few years left to change the way we live, to preserve our depleting ecosystems & natural habitats and to reduce our emission of greenhouse gases to prevent catastrophic changes in earth's climate which will result in mass extinction of species. Humans have altered the face of the earth more than any other species and the pace with which this change is progressing is threatening. Nearly 80% of the earth's surface is already marked by humans and the hunt is on to mark the rest. Our hunger for resources will soon become a challenge to sustain on planet earth. Sustainable Development is the only solution to combat environmental issues. Though there are several government and non-government organizations working for environment conservation, wide gap between the developed and developing economies remains the biggest obstacle in implementing policies.
