Unfortunately the weather has not co-operated for our school Athletics Day today and although the students did start the rotation of events at 9am it had to be called off due to the rain. Because we have a very full school calendar leading up to the Inter-Intermediate Athletics Competition scheduled for 27th November, students will compete in events with their own Team over the next week to confirm who qualifies.
Cultural Concert
Our end of year Cultural Concert is on Wednesday 21st November at 7.00pm in the school hall. All students involved in kapa haka, choir, band, ukulele band, rock bands plus the place-getters from X-Factor and lip sync competitions will perform at the concert. This is a great way for students to showcase their talents and the progress they have made during the year. A gold coin koha would be appreciated at the door on the night. See you there!
Thank you very much to our judges Keith Bunting, Angela Walters and Sally Oldfield.
Consultation Hui
Morrinsville Intermediate will be holding a consultation hui with our Whanau on Thursday 29th November at the Kai-a-te-mata marae from 5.30pm to 8.30pm. Kapa Haka will be performing at the conclusion of the hui.
NZ National Champion!
Steven Christie has recently won the 2012 National Tae Kwondo Tournament in his division! This event was held at North Shore Event Centre last month. Steven won the final 11-7 and also won gold two weeks later at the Pride Open Tournament held at Manurewa where he won his final 23-3. Congratulations Steven on your fantastic achievements!
Inter-Intermediate Volleyball
On 30th October two teams of MIS girls and boys travelled to Te Awamutu to compete in the annual Inter-Intermediate Volleyball Tournament. The boys team played five games, the competition was tough and, although we didn't win any of our games, we all learned a lot and enjoyed playing some skilled teams. The girls team did really well and finished 4th overall by winning four of their six games which was a great result for them.
Our thank you morning tea for all our wonderful parents who have helped out during the year; please accept this as an invitation to all volunteers who have helped during 2012 to come along for morning tea on Thursday 22nd November at 10.30am in our school hall.
We would like to thank the parents who provided transport and supported us and a big thank you to Miss Milliken for organizing our teams and providing coaching. Report by Ben Allison & Jack Devane
