Seven years ago a group of special needs children took the eld for the very rst Sports Plus class. They pursued a dream of nding an instruc onal sports program with a highly qualied and trained sta armed with an innova ve curriculum to help awaken and realize the poten al of par cipants. They played sports, learned to swim and made friends but, more importantly, used these new found skills as tools to train for life. The success of Sports Plus par cipants is ourishing! In the last year alone, Sports Plus has: Provided over 3,600 hours of sports, swim, camp and workforce training programs All told, we provided children with mild to moderate au sm and other developmental disabili es and their neurotypical siblings 3,635 hours of sports, swim and camp programs. These programs served over 300 families from Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia. 96% of families returned to programs Ninety-six per cent of families that came to Sports Plus last year returned for addi onal programs. Our land based programs rou nely lled to capacity. Capacity had to be increased again to handle increased demand for our swim programs. Established a groundbreaking partnership with the chocola er SPAGnVOLA Under this collabora on, SPAGnVOLA manufactures and sells a signature Sports Plus premium chocolate product with all of the prots from these sales donated to Sports Plus. The partnership also features Sports Plus social tours of SPAGnVOLAs chocolate factory and chocolate making classes specially developed for those with special needs and their fami- lies. Sports Plus teens also served as interns at SPAGnVOLA, involved in the manufacture of the signature SPAGnVOLA Sports Plus premium chocolate products, in a unique workforce training program. Added innova ve new programs. The Germantown 5 Miler road race and Sports Plus 1K for children was established as an integral event to the Sports Plus Track & Field program. The race is the rst ever mainstream run that provides a complete spectrum of assistance enabling those with disabili es to fully par cipate in the event. Forensics, chocolate making and African drumming segments were added to of our summer camp pro- grams. Sports Plus also successfully produced and test marketed a chocolate chip cookie. The cookie will be produced by Sports Plus par cipants and sold at retail and non-prot outlets in 2013 in a How Work Works training program for teens Sports Plus athletes set new records! All of the prior years track and eld and swim records were again sha ered by our Sports Plus athletes. A record number of Sports Plus swimmers qualied for and par cipated with their neighborhood, summer swim teams. True inclusion was achieved with brothers and sisters compe ng on the same mainstream team for the rst me. Sports Plus mini swim teams were established. Trained more than 70 volunteers and developed more than 30 paid sta members A large part of the success of Sports Plus programs comes from providing the highest caliber of training and exper se to support the needs

of the children and families that we serve. This passionate group again proved that it will never be out- worked, out-prepared or out-innovated. Two- me former Olympian and medal winner Darrin Steele joined Sports Plus Mr. Steele is a former NCAA decathlon champion and an Olympic medalist in bobsled. He is the CEO of USA Bobsled and Skeleton, a branch of the United States Olympic Team. Mr. Steele is focused on expanding Sports Plus programs and reach both regionally and na onally. Impacted lives physically and beyond Many families reported large gains in physical tness, socializa on, self esteem and pride that carried far beyond our athle c elds, gyms and pools. Friends were made, important physical and social skills were learned, processes were mastered, individuals became teammates and fun to- gether. Here is what some of our families had to say:

Since joining Sports Plus, my son is, for the rst me in his life, open to social se ngs. Six years of occupa onal therapy three mes a week did not do what four weeks of Sports Plus Summer Camp has done. His life has changed and for the rst me, we have hope. Without Sports Plus, I cant imagine how her life would be. She was on a path of giving up and accep ng a life of isola on. Now, she has friends and high self-esteem and is eager to join in the worlds of sports and play. We are eternally grateful for the change, happiness and hope that Sports Plus has given us. Sports Plus is a model organiza on that gives kids the physical skills they can use in a social realm that they so desperately need. It gives kids who are o en le out of other tness ac vi es the experience and skills theyll need to enjoy tness throughout their lives. Sports Plus has given my son something that we never thought would be possible, the pride to tell his friends at school that he was doing the same thing they were doing on the weekends playing soccer!

All that Sports Plus has done in the last seven years could not have been achieved without the gracious nancial support of our sponsors, donors and families. In 2013, we will expand our sports programs and oer new sports/social, so- cial and workforce training programs for teens.
