Current Employer: Cornwall College Job Title: Learning Technologist Roles and Responsibilities: Manage and ensure the smooth running of the corporation's Virtual Learning Environment: Moodle. (and currently overseeing the corporation's move from Moodle version 1.9 - 2.3) Manage a team of ILT Advocates at each of the college's seven campuses Maintaining an empathic and mutually supportive relationship with the institution's IT Services team. Delivering ILT training to staff in a variety of ways: via electronic baseline briefings and face to face delivery Write and publish a half-termly electronic ILT newsletter to all staff Designed and implemented virtual couse files; encouraging staff to use the VLE as an electronic space for course documentation Championing and implementing other ILT strategies such as ePortfolios and virtual classrooms Co-developer and implementer of the corporate ILT and eLearning strategies, overseeing the roll-out of the development of ILT and /eLearning across the college. Achievements
Nominated for STAR Award for Outstanding HE Teaching in 2007. Authored and built the first Initial Teacher Training (ITT) and ITT in-service courses to be studied using blended learning methodology and the first (and only) ITT course to be studied entirely online, using Moodle, web 2.0 applications and Second Life. As a direct result of my own subject specialist status in English, I am the South West Regional Advocate for Research and Practice in Adult Literacy (RaPAL) and co-editor of the RaPAL Journal.
