Mr. BHARAT RAO (MANAGING TRUSTEE) gave a motivational speech to the students present in the workshop. The workshop begins with DEEP PRAGATYA. MR. CHANDRAKANTH TERULPALLY completed his BE in ELECTRICAL and ME in CONTROL SYSTEM. He has 10 years of experience on MATLAB. Firstly, he gave a brief summary on what is MATLAB all about. In that he covered introduction with MATLAB, SIMULINK and SIMULINK LIBRARY BROWSER. At 12:45 PM the students headed for lunch. The lunch was pretty delicious. The students enjoyed it a lot. After the lunch session at 1:30 PM, he gave an A to Z information on SIMULINK. The topics which he covered in this session are given below: 1. How to start with SIMULINK SOFTWARE? 2. SIMULINK LIBRARY BROWSER. 3. How to create a SIMULINK MODEL? Heres the detail about tropic covered

DAY 1
1. How to start with SIMULINK SOFTWARE?

Date: 01-11-2012

SIMULINK is a block diagram environment for multi-domain simulation and Model-Based Design. It supports system-level designs, simulation, automatic code generation and continuous test and verification of embedded systems. SIMULINK provides a graphical editor, customizable block libraries and solvers for modelling and simulating dynamic systems. It is integrated with MATLAB. 2. SIMULINK LIBRARY BROWSER. The SIMULINK LIBRARY BROWSER displays the block libraries installed on your computer. We start building models by coping blocks from libraries into SIMULINK editor model window. SIMULINK library consists of following sub-libraries: Commonly Used Blocks Continuous Discontinuities Discrete Logic and Bit Operations Lookup Tables Math Operations Model verification Model-Wide Utilities Ports and Subsystems Signal Attributes Signal Routing Sinks & Sources User-Defined Functions

DAY 1
From the above sub-libraries, he taught us Math Operations, Sinks and Sources. At 03:00 PM the students headed for tea break. After tea break, the session again begins.

Date: 01-11-2012

3. How to create a SIMULINK MODEL? Create a New Model o Start the SIMULINK SOFTWARE. In the MATLAB Command Window, enter simulink. The SIMULINK LIBRARY BROWSER opens. o From the SIMULINK LIBRARY BROWSER, select File > New > Model. A SIMULINK editor window opens with an empty canvas. o Select File > Save as. The save as dialog box opens. o In the File name box, enter a name for your model. Then click save. Add Blocks to a Model o In the SIMULINK LIBRARY BROWSER, select the Sources library. The SIMULINK LIBRARY BROWSER displays blocks from the Sources library in the right-hand panel. o Select the Sine Wave block. Drag the Sine wave block to the model window. A copy of the Sine Wave block appears in your model. o Add the following blocks to your model, using the same approach that you used to add the Sine Wave block. After adding the blocks to a model just connect each block with one another to form a circuit. Here the day ends. We learned a lot of things today regarding MATLAB. The students didnt felt it boring because the sir was making us laugh simultaneously. All the students who attended the workshop were so excited to attend the next day.

STUDENTS REPORT ON WORKSHOP DAY 2 Date: 02-11-2012

At 09:00 AM the breakfast begins. After breakfast sir continued with SIMULINK LIBRARY BROWSER. In that he covered following sub-libraries: Continuous Discontinuous Discrete Logic and Bit Operations Lookup Tables Ports and Subsystems Signal Routing

He gave detailed information regarding the sub-libraries. At 12:45 PM students headed for lunch. After the lunch session, he made us solve examples. The examples we solved were related with dc motor speed control by electrical and mechanical component, PID controller and numerical methods and so on. The blocks we used in solving examples were sine block, function generator, MUX & DEMUX etc. We also show the waveform of current, speed and torque during this session. Some examples were solved by students namely Vishwam Patel, Jayesh Mehta and Jaymin Patel. The sir encouraged them for solving the problems. At 03:30 PM the students headed for tea break. After the tea break, sir solved query of the students. Here the day ends. Students were eagerly waiting for the last day of the workshop.

STUDENTS REPORT ON WORKSHOP DAY 3 Date: 03-11-2012

At 09:30 AM the breakfast begins. After the breakfast sir started a new topic i.e. SIM POWER SYSTEMS. In that he covered introduction and regarding its libraries. 1. INTRODUCTION TO SIM POWER SYSTEMS: SIM POWER SYSTEMS software is a modern design tool that allows scientists and engineers to rapidly and easily build models that simulate power systems. It uses the SIMULINK environment, allowing you to build a model using simple click and drag procedures. Not only can you draw the circuit topology rapidly, but your analysis of the circuit can include its interactions with mechanical, thermal, control, and other disciplines. This is possible because all the electrical parts of the simulation interact with the extensive SIMULINK modelling library. 2. SIM POWER SYSTEM LIBRARIES: SIM POWER SYSTEMS libraries contain models of typical power equipment such as transformers, lines, machines, and power electronics. The library contains: Electrical Sources Elements Machines Measurements Power Electronics

He gave detailed information about all the blocks of SIM POWER SYSTEM libraries in this session.

DAY 3

Date: 03-11-2012

At 01:00 PM the students headed for lunch. But it was an awesome time for the co-coordinators Meet Patel, Ritesh Patel and Jay Patel as they had done the preparations for the CLOSING CEREMONY in the lunch break. During the preparations they did a lot of MASTI!!! It was the best part of the workshop. Around 01:45 PM the second session begins. In that he made us make models of different circuits like full wave bridge rectifier, full wave rectifier, half wave rectifier, dc motor, transmission line, etc. and after that did the simulation of those models. Then he solved our queries. Throughout the whole workshop he asked question to the students, and those student who would give the answer would get a chocolate. Here the workshop ends. So let us move towards the CLOSING CEREMONY!!!

Around 04:00 PM the CLOSING CEREMONY begins. The guests present were Mr. RASHMIKANT SHAH (Registrar), Mr. KETAN PRAJAPATI and faculties of all departments.
