E-MAIL: dot@socalcross.org, tylerw@slonexus.org DIRECTIONS: El Chorro Regional Park, Hwy 1, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405 - See directions and map below. THE COURSE: The course is a mix of dirt, grass and some pavement. Fast start on hard packed dirt, mostly flat with 1 run up, 1 barrier section and a natural sand. Each lap is approximately 2.5.km in length. Races are timed circuits on the course based on category. Course will be run opposite direction of previous years to mix things up a bit. THE VENUE: Located between San Luis Obispo and Morro Bay, El Chorro Regional Park provides camping, BBQ facilities and a great place to spend the day. Camping space is available at the race venue. REGISTRATION: Save $$$, save time and pre-register on-line at: Online registration closes Thursday December 6 at 11:59PM (Pacific). Race Day registration is available opens at 7:30am and closes 20 minutes prior to each race category start. Go to: www.SoCalCross.org/register ENTRY FEES: Pre-Registration entry fee is $30.00. (add $5 for race day entry) for all CX categories except CX 4 Men/Women for $20.00 and Juniors (racing age 10-18 yrs) race Junior race for FREE with USA Cycling license, or purchase one-day license for $10. Juniors must pay regular entry fee for category races if NOT entering Junior race. Additional race entries are just $5.00/per race after higher entry fee is paid. A valid USA Cycling license is required for all race participants. Annual USAC licenses can be purchased online at: www.USACycling.org or at registration on race day. Cost for USAC annual license is $60 ($30 for Juniors) and expire on 12/31/2011. A 2012 license can be purchased starting 12/1/2011. A One Day license is available with pre-registration or on race day for $10. One Day licensed riders are eligible to race events open to CX Cat 4 racers. RULES: Event held under USA Cycling Permit. All 2011 USA Cycling and CX rules apply. Event will be held rain or shine, no refunds. Cyclocross and Mountain Bikes (no bar ends) are welcomed. Bike and wheel changes are allowed in the designated pit areas. Riders must wear helmets when on the bike at all times. Riders shall stay on the course or existing trails. Please respect the venue and local residents. No feeds are allowed on course except under discretion of the race officials. Sleeveless jersey/shirts are not allowed. Warming up on the Course Once the last rider has crossed the line in the current active wave, the officials will allow riders to pre-ride the course so they can become familiar with route. Once the next race has started, they need to withdraw from the course before the first rider passes them. There should be enough time for them to complete one lap. As in the past, these riders cannot cross the finish line. CATEGORIES & UPGRADES: Detailed information on categories and upgrades can be found at www.USACycling.org As a general rule, Road and MTB riders who race Cyclocross should be racing in categories as listed below. Cyclocross Cat 1: Road Pro or Cat 1; MTB Pro Cyclocross Cat 2: Road 2; MTB 1 Cyclocross Cat 3: Road 3; MTB 2 Cyclocross Cat 4: Road 4 or 5; MTB 3; One-day license The Prestige Series discourages sandbagging. Please upgrade when eligible. CYCLOCROSS RACING AGE: A riders racing age for the 2011-12 Cyclocross Season is the 'racing age' theyll be the year of the CX World Championships which take place in January 28-29, 2012 Your racing age for the entire cyclocross season running September 2011 through January 2012 is your age as of 12/31/2012. Youth born 2003 or later. Juniors 10-14 born 1998-2002. Juniors 15-18 born 1994-1997. Masters 35+ born 1977 or earlier; Masters 45+, 1967 or earlier; Masters 55+, 1957 or earlier. RESULTS: Race results will be posted near the awards area immediately following each race. Please make sure to check your results within the 15 minute posting/protest period or they will be final. DIRECTIONS: Exit Hwy 101 at Santa Rosa (Hwy 1) exit. From south turn right on Torro, right on Walnut and right again on Santa Rosa Hwy 1 and head out of town. From south turn left on Santa Rosa Hwy 1 and head out of town. Approximately 5 miles out of SLO turn right at Dairy Creek Road and follow signs to race parking.
